  1. It was a tough choice between the narcissist, the socialist, and the senility...
  2. I don't think they will make a big jump, rather he will do what he's done before and use some of the later picks to move up a few slots in R2 or R3 to get a guy they like, or move up from R4 into R3. They can pick up their big WR, RB, and either an OL or CB in the first three picks.
  3. You know you won't like it... Based on these three, if I want someone to go up against the Deep State or cut a deal, it's Trump. If I want someone to lead through this healthcare crisis, somone who would've been focused early on (instead of the stock market), and making sure protecting workers was a priority (which means their businesses as well), then it's Bernie. If I want someone stuck in a nursing home, it's Biden...
  4. You don't think this past Monday was it? Second largest drop in the Dow in history. I said last week, they will most likely close it, and probably should. Anyone who "wants their money" has had ample time. It's all about getting through the next 4-5 weeks.
  5. This guy has been way ahead of the curve on the virus. You guys will like this one, but he's an equal opportunity criticizer...
  6. We would not experience a GD that lasted years. We have the ability to reestablish the economy, just like China has. In a crisis, everyone is a socialist.... That said, the economy will never be the same after this.
  7. Yes, sorry, he should try to act like an expert on everything. Pompeo smartly refused to answer a question. It's not hard.
  8. So, how exactly would people suggest doing things different? I've seen the suggestion here that the old and vulnerable should quarantine and everyone else go about their lives. That would ensure a much large number of people infected, and even though the death rate for those under 40 is only 0.2%, that doesn't tell us how many require ICUs or respirators to recover? Then all of those active people would be endangering all of the healthcare workers on the front lines. It's not a simple solution. In times like this the federal government can do what China did--provide the backstop and guarantee all businesses and jobs. We temporarily provide trillions to ensure liquidity to the financial system, and we can do the same to the real economy over this relatively short period of time. In other news, I stopped buying the dip because I don't know where it will end...
  9. The problem is he has to stick his foot into areas he has no expertise. It was obviously a "gotcha trap" and I kept saying just step it back! Why keep on talking about the Hydroxichloriquine? He is his own worst enemy.
  10. What DR said.
  11. Yikes! https://amp.ft.com/content/2a70a02a-644a-11ea-a6cd-df28cc3c6a68?__twitter_impression=true
  12. I recall an expose about congress and insider trading on 60 minutes some years back, then they supposedly passed a law prohibiting....again, "supposedly"... Totally agree with DR, us against them...
  13. This belongs here in the cuckoo section. Escobar has written some interesting things in the past, but I'm not sure how to categorize this one? I do know that his comment about elimination of reserve requirements is off the mark. The derivatives market implosion may be correct, but the elimination of reserves and credit explosion is not. https://asiatimes.com/2020/03/china-locked-in-hybrid-war-with-us/ Btw, there's an interesting tidbit in there that mentions a Saint Corona, the patron saint of pandemics...
  14. Tucker has been very good throughout this crisis...
  15. It pays to have inside info... https://www.propublica.org/article/senator-dumped-up-to-1-6-million-of-stock-after-reassuring-public-about-coronavirus-preparedness
  16. So it looks like they were relying on evidence from China, not their own analysis? Regardless, according to the various articles posted, WHO was offering the German protocol for testing on Jan 17, which we opted not to adopt. Developing our own which became available Jan 28. Time and testing are critical to mitigation efforts. We failed at both, which puts us where we are...
  17. @3rdnlng I didn't want to copy all what was posted by quoting, so... First, posting a defense using Breitbart is like me using MSNBC or Krugman. The first response is always "consider the source." That said... As the Politifact article said, WHO adopted the German protocol on Jan 17, but the US decided to develop their own which became available Jan 28th. Certainly our choice, but one delay. Then, the issue you noted about the failure with its test. Regardless, for many different reasons, testing was too slow to be implemented which led to the inability to control the outbreak by mitigation. In fact, we still are not testing enough. Erie county said they no longer have the ability to test. Incredible. I'm not sure why..? My main issue throughout has been Trump not taking it seriously enough, and seeming to be more concerned about the economy and stock market. I posted that video of him at the CDC talking about bringing the cruise ship in to SF and his comments about higher numbers being bad. You guys responded that's just they way he talks or something to that effect. throughout this time, many in the administration were singing the same tune, saying it was being contained (Kudlow and others). Even Trump was saying it was under control. It was not until the stock market took its first huge drop that he started to focus more. He gave his address to the nation, which created more confusion than confidence. At Sunday night's presser, he came out all giddy talking about the Fed's rate cut to zero, and saying "Wall Street would be very happy." They weren't. Investors aren't stupid. They recognized the lack of focus. Finally, after Monday's near-record breaking drop, he was slapped in the face with reality. Starting at Monday's afternoon presser anyone not biased could see he changed his tone and focus. As I mentioned, I really liked what I saw from him at Tuesday's presser. Haven't seen much in the past two days because I've been a bit busy. I try, and have, given trump credit when it's due. I don't know that many of you can say that you've ever criticized him for anything. As I also said from the beginning, showing leadership on this from the start would compensate for any impact on the economy. I don't think he did, but I also think the Dem leadership has been so bad that he can overcome that poor start. The only person who can stop him, is himself....
  18. I assume others pointed out that the case against the key Russian connection, the Internet Research Agency, was dropped this week. The case was too weak. Sorry, I never believed this from the beginning...It was the 24-7-365 coverage promising week after week the new evidence that would take Trump down. My poor wife hanging on Rachel's words for 2.5 years... I think it's not to difficult to figure out who is essential at providing the essentials. You gave a very simple definition.
  19. Link?
  20. WHO offered the test to many countries, the CDC declined to use it and instead create their own. That is a fact. That decision also led to delays in mass testing which is what allowed S. Korea to get ahead of the curve on this. I also have said that trump has been more focused on the stock market and economy than the virus itself. You think he's done everything right, so we'll never agree. As I said above, it's clear to me the light bulb went on sometime Monday for him coinciding with the second largest drop in the Dow ever. I thought he was at his best on the crisis so far at Tuesday's presser. On the other side, Pelosi has been abysmal in the response. When this is is all over, the media will deserve much of the blame as well. On one side, Fox downplayed it for weeks, thus making conservatives downplay it. On the other, CNN/MSNBC were cheerleading russiagate for 3 years and lost any credibility with conservatives and many moderates. A failure on so many levels...
  21. It's too bad they declined to use WHO's test at this point in time, but you can't change what's happened. It's clear to some where his focus was at that time, and it's clear in the tweet. It's also clear to me that Monday's crash finally got him to change focus. He's been a different person on this since then, and I'm glad to see it. He's finally acting presidential, wrt virus.
  22. I essentially said this 3 days ago, but some saw it as a political post. People still aren't getting the gravity of the situation. To say shut it down, does not mean essentials. What is needed is to shut down as much as is feasible for the next 30 days. As I said, declare a payment freeze. Make sure people can get food and water and their meds. This isn't the end either. Hopefully it will dissipate as the weather warms too, but that does not mean it won't be back in the fall. I've been distracting myself following the Bills' moves, but unfortunately I don't think there's going to be a season. Btw, it's nice to see the change in Trump that started with his Monday presser. Can't focus on past decisions, and I'm glad to see the change.
  23. four guys who know the system too, so seemless.
  24. Was thinking about this last night, add Norman and Klein to that last point, "knows the system." The D won't skip a beat...
  25. You really are a douche. It has nothing to do with politics, rather how can society deal with a crisis of this magnitude? China brought in the military and shut Wuhan down. Maybe you'd rather see that? Btw, we do have a federal payments system dumbass. Of course, you still think it's all a hoax? Conspiracy? Yes, everyone is out to get your idol. Hahahahaha!
