  1. Look at the Bills lists of visits. They are late first rounders.

The Bills are looking at capitalize on players that fall lower than their projections and or trading back.

I think there is a solid chance Mettenberger falls to the 3rd.

If so the Bills will be there.

I think there is 0.0000001% chance the Bills take a QB at 41 or before.

Now if they trade back and get a second 2nd. Maybe.

I'm sure the odds of the Bills picking a QB at 41 or earlier are better than one in ten million. :nana:
  2. I would argue that RT is just as important as LT in today's game. The best defenses have 2 great pass rushers & you nneed to be able block both. I'm looking towards building a Superbowl contender.. Not just getting by.

Secondly, all 3 of those top OTs have the ability to play LT. What happens if Glenn goes down with an injury? I'd feel a lot better moving over Matthews or Lewan to play LT (your self proclaimed most important position on the line) then some 3rd round RT prospect who *might* just be good enough to play RT.

This team isn't just short a single RT for a great line. We need more depth. Another reason to take a guy like Matthews is the fact he can play every single spot on the line. Versatility is a major selling point of the big 3.

You suggest taking Ebron but I just don't think he makes that big of an impact. Especially after they grabbed Mike Williams. Optimistically, Ebron would catch 50 balls. I don't see this offense airing it out like NO or DEN. We already have a full house of pass catchers with Mike Williams on board. Yes, TE is a need but I'd prefer someone like Niklas out of ND who is a dominating blocker. He should be there for us in the 2nd.

Matthews or Lewan will make an impact on every single offensive snap. Matthews started 46 games in the SEC & dominated.

Give me Matthews @ 9 & then ASJ or Niklas in the 2nd instead of Ebron @ 9 and some significantly less talented OT in the 2nd or 3rd

I wanted Ebron earlier, but it seems he may have been a little overrated early on. Now I think we should go Matthews then Niklas. Though a little raw, I think Niklas is going to be a beast( he's a big boy ).
  3. I feel "The Change " has already occurred . And its seems tied to the Brandon promotion . Then Whaley put into his designated role and the bringing in Marrone . And then Pettine. Lotsa staffing changes with coaches , scouts , personnel and players .

What becomes of it should be better defined when the season starts . But the significant shift has occured .

I get a much better vibe now with Whaley than i have before .

Better or worse Russ has changed the dynamics .

    I think anyways

Nothing's changed? For starters, if Ralph had still been in charge I highly doubt the Toronto series gets put on hold. Looking at how we went after Marrone and Pettine, I don't recall the Bills being that organized and decisive about coaching decisions ever.

Just to clarify, Russ Brandon is not directly responsible for winning games. He is responsible for bringing in the proper people under him so that they will win us games. Right now it's Whaley and Marrone and you HAVE to allow your people to work for you. It's also unclear if Whaley was Brandon's preference, he may have been Buddy and Ralph's preference. I don't hold Brandon responsible except from 2013 forward. He is a corporate speak guy, but you should be if you're the face of the franchise. He also came back from Detroit and went to an informal tailgate tribute the next day, he said they were going to review the Toronto series shortly before it got put on hold. That says a lot about his underlying character. I have the sense that this franchise has an organized plan moving forward which is refreshing. As far as Byrd, we just don't know what the decision making process was on that, Whaley/Marrone could have been a significant factor. We just know the FO wasn't comfortable with $9 mil per year, we'll see how it works out.

Well said by both of you. I too believe it's changed, and for me it feels for the good, but we'll find out in 1-2 years.3rd and 12 mentioned a different vibe, and that's what I've been thinking for about a year. I'll go on record and say this year will be the first winning season since 04.
  4. That's OK - Yeah, I guess I really don't have a stance on him either way. I like a lot of things about Thad as a backup but can't say I have a ton of confidence in him to play a lot more than a backup. And even then I hope that is as little as possible. The whole QB situation has me hoping and praying.

I feel pretty similar about Thad. I know when he drops back to pass it could either be really good or really bad. If he can learn to hang on to the ball and get the ball out of his hands quicker he actually could be a pretty darn good QB. I love his deep ball.
  5. I'm really not saying anything other than I don't see the point in judging his status as a backup, based on hypothetical stats stretched over a 16 game season, since he would not be started 16 games as a backup. The thread has a link that points out he was likely our best option based on what was available. I am not arguing anything.

Didn't say you were trying to argue anything. Didn't grasp initially what you were saying.I also didn't notice you started the thread and initial statement. Reread, my bad.
  6. Thad and EJ have started nearly the same number of games I believe. I felt more comfortable with Thad in. It's obvious that EJ has more physical talent, and has a greater team investment; but if that's what were banking on.......

EJ started twice as many games as Thad 10/5, but Thad fumbled more times in half the starts. I never felt comfortable with Thad playing, seemed like a turnover was right around the corner.

I don't think you can take stats and extrapolate them throughout the season as each game has different circumstances. I admit Thad fumbled more than we would like last season, but IMO unfair to say he would have had 20+ fumbles if he played a full season.

No you can't, but there was a good chance had Thad started 16 games he would have easily led the league.
