  1. I really like DE Scott Crichton and CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste...but they will go higher than we can afford to take them.

Does anybody know how many of our visitors we have actually drafted in the last couple years?

I'd like to see how that relates.

I'm not familiar with the CB, but would love the Bills to get Crichton in the 2nd. With the way his stock is going up he may gone by the time the Bills pick.
  2. Bills recent history. NOT EJ. In particular, I was riffing on the board's oft posted comment that Fitzgibbons would play well for 3 quarters and throw the game-killing interception in crunch time. I believe that was posted here 15297 times. (OK, I made up that stat. Tip o' the hat to someone I know that loves to do that. ;) )

Thanks for proving my point. Ratings ranging from 48 to 121 are not "consistent".

    http://dictionary.re...owse/consistent

You can spin the numbers anyway you want, but the stats showed just what I said. C Kaepernick - 20 - 134(holy cow better bench this clown), D Brees 67 -146, T Brady 52 - 151, A Dalton 52 - 136, J Flacco 46 & 49 - 112(makes 20 mil a year), Super Bowl winning QB R Wilson 49(twice) - 151, A Smith 56 - 158, N Foles 46 - 158, A Rodgers 64 - 146, C Newton 47 - 143 M Ryan 47 - 148. That's ten playoff QBs, plus Ryan who missed this year but is usually in, all ratings are in the same range or worse. Just proves they had one really good game and one pretty bad game, but has very little to do with consistency and more importantly success for both the QB and the team.
  3. I don't want this thread to derail, but, I don't remember those threads unless you're talking about CJ. The angst I remember (by some, myself included) was that we didn't need a RB when he was drafted at #9. It is though interesting to note that no RB has been taken in the first round since 2010 (I believe that is correct). That doesn't mean that none will be taken this year, but, it is interesting to note. The passing game has far outpaced the running game in terms of importance with most teams.

If someone has some time...it might be interesting to note how many 1st round RBs there have been in the past 5 years compared to WRs and TEs. (WR is obviously influenced by the # on the field on any given play)

    As long as I didn't miss anyone, from 2009 - 2013 10 RBs, 18 WRs, 3 TEs

    2009 2010 2011 2012 2013

    #7- D. Heyward-Bay WR #9- C.J. Spiller RB #4- A.J. Green WR #3- T. Richardson RB #8- T. Austin WR

  4. Consistency is the key. Hopefully, the consistency comes at a high level of play as well -- we've seen consistently mediocre and consistently choking in recent Bills history. Still, consistently inconsistent is going to lead to another regime change,

Whether you look at it as "only 10 games" or "3 knee injuries", the lump of clay was simply inconsistent in his limited time.

Actually EJ was consistent last year, he played well at home except for one game, he played poorly on the road except one game. QB rating at home - 105.5, 89.3, 48.9, 121.9, 86.7 on the road - 71.8, 74.8, 63.5, 31.2, 105.0. It's very common for rookie QBs to play well at home and struggle on the road.
  5. My opinion will probably be dismissed as me being a Manuel hater, however:

I think Bortles does everything better than Manuel coming out. By everything I mean better arm, better accuracy, better mobility, instincts and pocket presence. I would probably take Bortles if I was Houston. He isn't a perfect thrower yet but he is so much more natural thrower than Manuel.

Their stats for their last year in college are eerily similar. If he is better in almost every area, how come their stats are nearly identical ? Not trying to be a jerk, just curious.
  6. Is there anyway to close this thread? This horse has long been dead. If all these fans are pining there hopes on EJ somehow panning out then they are in for a very sad football season. Please close this thread and lets talk about long snappers

Pining there hopes on EJ or pinning their hopes on EJ.... Enough said.
  7. Your kinda all over the place in your opinion on this (which is fine...its your opinion)

    - You recognize that he was a rookie......but wanted to see more

    - You recognize that he was injured......but are dissapointed that you didnt see more

    - You recoginze that Rookies struggle....and you recognize that he did make good plays at times.....but are dissapointed

PATIENCE is what is required here.....its like nobody remembers what was said of this QB when we drafted him last year and they want a finished product that first year.

    TON of talent.......needed work......

Very well put. When he was drafted they acknowledged he was rough around the edges with a ton of upside. How quickly everyone forgot.
  8. SJ13 a TOP TIER TALENT??? So much love for an average player. If you compare SJ to FJ you deserve to be banned from this site.

Yea yea yea I know I don't have a lot of post but I frequented this place a lot, I well aware of how you feel about Stevie, I just don't agree. While, I don't deny he has some shortcomings, the facts are he's one year removed from 3 straight 1,000 yard seasons. During that span, only 4 other WRs accomplished that feat (C. Johnson, R. White, M. Colston, B. Marshall). He also averaged 16th in yards and just shy of 8 TDs a year during that time. Sounds pretty damn good to me. To top it off he only has 3 fumbles in his career. But, you're dying to get rid of him and I can't figure out why. If it's drops, in 2012 Stevie's last full year, - Welker, Johnson, Marshall, Cruz, and Decker all had more. There's some mighty big names on that list. Just saying :nana:
  9. Show me a team that has a ton of both, you can't. Denver, Seattle, SF etal have players with 'issues'. Hell we made it to 4 superbowls with several so did Dallas etc.

Lets try this again, Stevie isn't a #1 WR and getting paid like he is. He is a feel good story for the fans. From a pure football perspective I dump him, his attitude, and his salary. CJ is a feel good story too, Fans love the occasional long run, wonderful, but he isn't a 25 rush per game starter and that is what this team needs. He is in a contract year, I trade him now. You say put payton manning with these two feel good stories and they are better? I disagree. Denvers WR's had talent hell they made Tim Tebow look good! How could they not look good with a good QB? CJ? He has to stay on the field more than 3 plays at a time for payton to do anything with him. But I am not going to argue the point, Both Stevie and CJ should be traded now while they have value and lets upgrade RB so we can start making a run

Tebow looked good? Really... In his 14 career starts he averaged less than 12 completions a game, that's not good, how someone could mistake that for looking good is beyond me. As far as Stevie and CJ, swing and a miss again, they'd be playing on any team in the NFL period. This board has got to get it through it's collective head, you want to trade or release the bottom tier talent, not the top tier. As far as a back rushing 25 times a game, only Doug Martin averaged over 20 a game (21.17) and he lasted all of 6 games.AP(19.93) and McCoy(19.63) were the only other two to average over 19 att. a game. Beast Mode would have needed 6+ carries more carries a game to hit 25. CJ will probably get somewhere around 4-5 mil. per year, that's easily doable IMO.
  10. In your opinion, which again, no one's listening. There's a Heisman Trophy winner among this group and every year QB play at the college level improves as ex-NFL coaches take more reins there. I don't think Manuel will be good, unlike you who KNOWS everything. You're shtick is old and boring. News flash: you don't know crap about the future -just like all the rest of humankind.
I'm listening and K-9 sounds like he's on the money. Just cause you don't agree doesn't mean no ones listening. I don't see anything that resembles an elite QB in this years draft. Once again Heisman Trophy winning QBs don't equate to NFL success. As far as QBs improving, I don't know about that, since 2006 93 QBs have been drafted only 8 have a QB rating of 80 or better for their careers, and an 80 QB rating is no where near elite.
