  1. has the physical traits NFL scouts look for. However, according to an AFC scout, concerns about his offensive transition are so great, "it's like he's playing a different sport." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000768825/article/texas-techs-patrick-mahomes-intends-to-enter-2017-nfl-draft Again, not saying he can't be successful but he's going to have to learn how to play QB in the NFL. The Air Raid offense is the most simple offense to run. He will have to sit and learn...he's not a day 1 starter. You can't ignore the history of Air Raid QB's, it's never had success in the NFL. Maybe Mahomes breaks that. Where have I ever mentioned Mahomes stats? No, here is what I like: Lightning Release (Great Plus Trait for Modern NFL) Accuracy Cannon Arm (Great Plus Trait in Cold Weather) Pocket Presence Accuracy Under Duress from Interior and Edge Pressure Accuracy On The Move and on the run Good NFL size Maturity and Leadership Field General Mentality He checks all the boxes that I value You really need to read up on Air Raid more. There is a lot more going on than you realize. Mahomes does go through progressions if his first read is not open, does manipulate safeties with his eyes, and does read defenses and makes checks at the line.
  2. Yeah, I also thought it was way more realistic.
  3. Well, bandit we lost our #1 Corner. We replaced one starting safety with a backup in Poyer. Hyde is an add since Aaron was barely on the field last year. Wild cards are Shaq, Ragland, and any draft additions.
  4. Is this thing on? Because it's about to be on...
  5. Buffalo finished 19th in defense last year and Carolina finished 20th. But Bills defensive line has Kyle Williams who is in rapid decline.
  6. And the Bills have one player. Dareus who we hope is not smoking and fooling around or injured.
  7. No, I embrace Air Raid. It's just a type of spread offense. Mahomes is acknowledging what he hears. Look, your viewpoint is perfectly valid. The scouting reports you showed me came from guys that talk to real NFL people. But here's where we differ. I look for opportunity. You are giving the viewpoint of the old boys network. These are scouts that watch a lot of prospects and come up with criteria that has worked for them in the past. Pro-Style offense, stay away from spread QB's was great advice back in the day. But it's 2017. Very few college teams run pro-style offenses. Very few NFL teams do either! NFL teams now throw the ball in shotgun more than under center. They get rid of the ball quickly to a group of receivers after looking for mismatches. The college spread and the NFL offenses are converging. They are not the same yet but far closer than when Tim Couch was drafted. NFL teams make the same mistakes over and over. Don't draft a short guy, don't draft a spread QB, don't draft a system QB. The Air Raid issue you brought up will drop Mahomes from being what he should be, a top 5 pick. That's because NFL GM's come from a staid, conservative culture. No one wants to lose their job by innovating. It's why the Patriots are dominating. They think for themselves. Time for the Bills to do the same.
  8. I think McDermott has proven with elite talent he can do well. Bills don't have that on defense at the moment.
  9. Air Raid is a type of spread offense. I don't get why that is so hard to comprehend. It has a lot of West Coast principles. Did you know that NFL offenses are becoming more like college and throwing from shotgun and using pre-determined reads? That is not just Air Raid. It's all college spread and NFL teams now. The Air Raid in the beginning was used as an underdog attack for schools who couldn't recruit the elite. That's why not a lot of the best prospects played in it. Mahomes beat out Webb and Mayfield for the job. He is an elite talent playing in a college spread offense.
  10. McDermott's defense was worse than Rex's last year in yards and points per game. Bills have lack of safeties, corners, and linebackers. I don't see it.
  11. This draft is deep enough that players in the 3rd or 4th this year would have gone in the second last year. No need to panic.
  12. Then by that definition Tyrod is not good enough to go on a playoff run. Maybe if the Bills were in a weak division Bills could sneak in. Only way Tyrod could get to playoffs is by being carried by a top 5 defense. Bills would get smoked as under Tyrod Bills always lose to teams with .500 or better records.
  13. The Air Raid is just a type of spread offense. The reason there are no NFL stars is few teams run it. If you understand it is a type of spread offense than there are plenty of success examples because more teams run it. There is nothing about the Air Raid system that will prevent the right QB from playing in the NFL.
  14. The same thing that prevented Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Dak Prescott, and Derek Carr from being top ten picks. Poor scouting or old boy methods.
  15. You need to read better scouting reports. Sounds like you are talking about someone else. Dak Prescott, Can Newton, Mariota, RG3 all came from spread offenses and had early success. It takes a good offensive coordinator to get early success with a spread college QB.
  16. I wish the Bills thought like this.
  17. Where was there a successful Tedford system QB before Aaron Rodgers? The air raid is just another spread offense. It doesn't make a QB get a disease.
  18. Most teams change management when they fail after 3 years. Bills seem to have continuity even when they fire coaches. So I expect this draft to go down the way last years did. A head coach empowered over a weak GM, throwing away picks, and patching holes. There is no vision at One Bills Drive. We see a team chasing its own tail over and over.
  19. Peterman is nothing but a future backup.
  20. The Air Raid offense is just another form of a spread offense. QB's can transition quickly if they have a good OC who takes concepts they are comfortable with and creates plays for them based on that. That's really what helped Dak last year. Sure, the great line and running game helped but Dallas really did stuff to get Dak going. Mahomes could have the same success if he goes to the right team. In fact, Mahomes is a better passer than Dak was last year.
  21. Mahomes goes through progressions. But as to learning an NFL offense, he only has to play in a offense that shelters the QB more than any in the NFL. Hit some deep balls now and then. Hand off to Shady. And unlike Tyrod, Mahomes can make every throw and the Bills can add the slant pattern to their offense.
  22. If it's Mahomes Tyrod will be holding the clipboard.
  23. I have an open mind. I am willing to be convinced Lord Tyrod is the 26th starting QB instead of the 28th where I currently have him slotted.
