  1. The Kool-Aid must have been flowing freely this weekend...

The only coach they hired that looks like an obvious win is Waufle, the Defensive Line coach.

The offensive coordinator wasn't calling the plays in Denver and was acquired after McCoy and Childress turned us down.

The defensive coordinator was a defensive backs coach last year that was no longer in high demand after his recent failures at head coach and defensive coordinator.

Quarterbacks coach has no history coaching the position in the NFL. I think QB coach is an important position. Bills always see it as an afterthought.

Offensive line coach has a solid resume but how is he better than Aaron Kromer?

Crossman is the special teams coach for a unit that has not been special.

  2. Same QB so this new staff will be on display, can they do better then Rex with the exact same QB Rex had to dumb down the system for? Remember teams called out how to stop Tyrod, make him be a QB.

If Sean McDermott wins less than 8 games next year with a better roster than what Rex had (according to people here) will they call for him to be shown the door?

  3. ...so then it is safe to assume Sheriff Andy hires Doug as his new QB Coach......your gems are woefully wondrous yet amusing......next up: your expose' on how Whaley's adamant and unwavering support for Mahomes led to his termination.......popcorn time.....

No, Whaley was done once McDermott was hired. Sean demanded full control to take the job. When Sean says the Pegulas fired Whaley and the scouts after the draft and they decided that morning he is lying.

  4.

    What?

Are you denying that Lynn and especially Roman didn't have much playcalling with those short timing routes designed to get the ball out quickly for that YAC you so desperately crave?

I thought that was pretty obvious.

Or if you're questioning whether Dennison will do it more, apparently he said he would on WGR today

    http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/194093-rick-dennison-interview-on-wgr/

Anthony Lynn's preferred offense is a West Coast offense. The QB has to hit guys when they are open and not hold on to the ball too long. Stop blaming everyone but the QB for the QB's play.

  5. In order to throw from the pocket and have success doing so, there has to be one to throw from. The Bills in the last several seasons have not done all that well protecting their QBs. They seem to have gotten run blocking mastered, but pass plays remain adventurous undertakings for our QBs because of the OL's inconsistency.

When the QB throws the ball on time it makes the pass protectors' jobs easier.

  6. He had 3,000 passing yards last year without Sammy and with arguably the worst receiving corps in the league. During the second half of the 2015 season, they were near the top of the league in QB/WR pairs.

I mean... Either you don't bother to actually inform yourself before making these inane comments, or you know the facts and just willfully ignore them.

How many yards did Tyrod have with a healthy Sammy in 2015?

  7.

Yeah, it's not being dismissed. It's just perceived as a less difficult throw than those 30+ yard throws and, therefore, given less value.

According to Dennison, we should be seeing a lot more of those short timing patters with YAC built into the offense for Taylor, anyway. I don't think Taylor has a problem running that kind offense and making those throws, our offenses under Roman and Lynn didn't call them much, though Lynn definitely called them more than Roman once he took over.

The QB matters. I love how people just say Roman/Lynn sucked and Dennison is better. Based on what?

  8.

Winning a Super Bowl with a poor defense is also an outlier. And I'd argue that your point would be more accurate if you said winning with a one-dimensional offense is an outlier.

Where did I say I want a poor defense? You want complimentary football. New England is driven by their QB and the ability to score points at will. Their defense plays off that and there you go. That's what I want. Elite offense with a defense that can stop the other team enough times for the win.

  9. They weren't outliers. They were 1 & 2 in Defensive DVOA that year, which is also a pretty good indicator for team success.

Winning a Superbowl with a poor passing attack is an outlier. It's like the people who say why can't we win with "insert crap QB" who can be our Trent Dilfer? Carolina I was speaking to their offense just rolling people as an outlier.

Maybe a perfectly thrown 30 yard pass is more difficult than a perfectly thrown 3 yard pass. It's not about taking credit away from the 3 yard pass itself, it's more about all the work the WR does after that gets added in and factored into normal passer rating 0:)

Throwing a perfect slant pass to hit a receiver in stride is a skill that should not be dismissed. It really helps the offense when a QB can hit those passes as well as deep go patterns as the slants and YAC stuff moves the chains.

  10. No I get it, only the stats you like matter, and the ones Tyrod is good in don't. Or there's some excuse. Even though the Super Bowl teams are #1 in the stat I chose (and playoff teams have a significant trend towards less turnovers) it doesn't matter.

What matters is YAC. Because it looks bad. Just like how every decision the Bills have made this offseason is bad because we didn't take Pat Mahomes. You have a one track mind. I haven't been getting as involved in the Tyrod discussions lately. I think all that could be said has been said. Join me in waiting and seeing jeff. The season is almost here.

I laid out what I wanted to happen BEFORE we hired the coach and GM. A real GM search for the best candidate to get players for the Buffalo Bills. Then the GM picks a top coach who can run a 21st century offense and develop a QB. If we had done a real GM search and landed the next John Schneider and then the GM chose Jim Bob Cooter I would be accused of excessive Kool-Aid posts. But instead the Pegulas got a list from the NFL and a name "jumped out at them" and then they invited Sean on their yacht before asking any football questions as he "had them at hello".

So no, passing on Mahomes was terrible but they set themselves up for that by the prior moves.

  11. Patriots and Falcons were also tied for 1st in interceptions + fumbles. Bills were 2nd.

Not saying low interception numbers are necessary to have a good year. It's just better than the alternative.

I believe in assessing risk properly. If my QB throws a pick on 3rd and 10 on the 50 yard line with 35 seconds left and it it intercepted deep it is the same as a punt. You will get more picks when you challenge a defense to make plays. Playing not to lose might feel right for a Jauron or a Rex Ryan but I prefer a bolder approach.

  12. And the year before that Denver was 20th and Carolina was 25th in the same stat. Somehow they overcame it and met in the Super Bowl though.

That Denver team was an outlier. As was Carolina's run in 2015. But keep in mind I did not argue it was necessary to have a good yards per catch per attempt. It just is better than the alternative.

  13. How many yards passing and rushing does TT get if he and Watkins play 16 games together?

I'll say 4000 passing and 600 rushing? You?

Yeah for sure. They have amazed me with how fortunate they have been in recent years. I keep thinking it is going to catch up to them and it doesn't. Maybe it really is Great Coaching.

You know alot because many NFL people have said he is a good football player. I'd just like to see what he does with a healthy Watkins this year. :D

200 yards passing a game. So 3,200 passing yards if healthy.

  14.

So you believe YAC/R is a crucial stat that determines quality teams?

No, it's a passer stat. But having a good passing game is better than not having a good passing game. 4 of the 5 teams with the highest YPC per attempt made the playoffs and 4 out of the 5 teams at the bottom, such as Buffalo, missed the playoffs. The only team that made the playoffs with a bottom of the barrel passing game was the Houston Texans and they are in a weak division.

  15.

Yeah the team with the 7th rated rushing attack beat the team with the 5th rated rushing attack in the super bowl.

Just pass all the time! It works! Ask Kyle Shanahan and Matt Ryan...

Also - wasn't he the OC of the team that won the super bowl in 2015?

Dennison is a Curtis Modkins. Kubiak called the plays. We shall see if he is better than A Lynn.

  16. "Back in 2015, Tyrod targeted Watkins 91 times overall." Have to have your best receivers on the field. TT did not have that in 2016 most of the time. NE and Atlanta's WR corp is much better overall than Buffalos. And they have a HOF and an elite QB on their rosters. TT was never expected to be that. Why don't you go out and get us one?

Tyrod doesn't throw with anticipation which is why he is bottom of the barrel in the NFL in that key stat.
