  1. Although we are just a couple plays away from winning this game, man....it just feels like this is one of those games we lose because we aren't prepared, sloppy, and beat ourselves.
  2. The sloppiest half of football in recent memory. Not blocking well. Can't hold onto the ball. Every time something even remotely positive happens there's a penalty to take it away. Just an awful half of football. That said, as bad as we played, we are only down 3 and have a chance to take the league out of the half if we clean things up. But that's a big if. The thing is, we have to start scoring because with the way the Pats* are playing, we aren't going to have a ton more possessions. So, we have to make the ones we do get count and it has to start now on this first drive.
  3. This offense needs to settle the frick down. I don't know what their problem is, but this is the most unprepared I have seen them in a long time. I mean it's just sloppy. Yeah, some of this is on Brady, especially the play calls in the redzone, but it's been tough to get a gauge on how his gameplan is overall because we are just running into each other, dropping the ball, missing blocks, etc. Just terrible. For the first time really all year the defense is holding us in the game waiting for the offense to get going. SO GET GOING!!!
  4. Brady in the redzone leaves a lot to be desired.
  5. The middle of this offensive line is going to have to step up. The Pats* are tough inside and they are getting pressure up front on almost every play so far.
  6. Stay healthy. Play hard. Play smart. WIN! GO BILLS!!!!
  7. Oh.....make no mistake about it. I'm not saying they need to change their identity at all on offense. What they are doing is working, and honestly, they are hard to stop. But what I am saying is that there are times during games where they will go 3-4 possessions and get nothing out of them because defenses adjust to what they are doing earlier in games. What I am saying is that at these times, change it up and get defenses back on their heels a bit and become less predictable. Like I said....run a little tempo. Maybe throw a bit more for a couple of drives. Right now we are virtually 50-50. I'm just saying if things are starting to stall, let Allen take control a bit and maybe go 65-35 for a bit and let Allen either air it out or take off if nothing's there. Because you are passing more, doesn't necessarily mean you have to put the ball in danger. I trust Alle to make the right decisions. If he sees it, rip it. If not, take off. I just want those few drives a game that we have where we struggle to get a 1st down to start looking a little different. As many of you know that follow my comments here, I have been virtually insufferable about asking Brady to run more play action over the years. He has increased that usage a bit this year which is great, but I still want more. Alen is just so god at it. It works 90%+ of the time it seems. No reason not to use it even more than we are so far. But I do appreciate Brady finally using it more this year.
  8. They don't realize the stats are only as close as they are because, outside of the Ravens game, Allen hasn't had to be Superman. The run game has been dominant in these games and the Bills are loving this balanced offense. I guess when you score 30+ a game and win by 2 scores (although the games have been closer than they should have been late) you can live with it. But make no mistake about it...... the difference is that when Allen needs to put the cape on, he will and go for 375+ and 4TDs. He has the extra gear that separates him from pretty much everyone else. Now, I would make the argument that the Bills should let Allen be Allen more often than they do, especially in the middle of games where we have been stalling out with this balanced offense we are trying to run, push the issue and maybe go up 3 scores instead of letting these teams hang around, but that is a different discussion. So many times I want them to go tempo to change things up when they get into an offensive funk and let Allen cook, but they have been reluctant to do that for whatever reason. I'd make the argument we could be putting up 35+ per game if we let Allen loose every once in a while during the games, but that doesn't seem to be what they want to do for whatever reason. Anyway, Pats* fans seem to have forgotten since Brady left that there are levels to this and that when he needs to be great, Allen is on a tier all by himself.
  9. All that talent at QB, WR, and pass catching backs and that's the play you choose to run in that situation. Right call to go for it, but man.....terrible play call.
  10. Yeah..... It's because of the lack of finish. Everyone is high on Walker, and hopefully rightfully so, because he makes splash plays. He's finished in both the pass and run game at times. But if you watch Sanders, he does get pressure up the middle more than you think, but because there is no finish, you don't think about him as much. But he has forced some good plays himself. The problem with both of these DTs is that they are struggling with gap integrity and are getting washed out in the run game way too much. Walker will make a couple of eye popping plays per game, but many of those come off of him cheating his gap. He'll backside a play where he's supposed to be 1 gap over and make a play in the backfield sometimes. But there are times he cheats and takes himself completely out of the play and that's why there are big runs against us sometimes. I don't think Sanders cheats as much and that's why you don't see the splash plays in the run game. The problem is, though, even with him being in the right gap, he is still getting washed out way more than you want to see. Look....it's not easy playing DT. There is a lot more than you think that goes into it. What you hope is that these guys learn to stay home, be in the right gap which probably keeps a LB free to fill in the hole. Do your 1/11th. But these guys have 13 more games to figure this all out before we need them to be at the next level for the Playoffs. Hopefully they both improve each week.
  11. I am obviously no doctor and not in the building, but when I watch these videos, I get the sense the brace is more there as a precaution rather than a mandatory necessity. I look at his body language while moving around and it just looks like he believes he's feeling good and things and getting stronger. I am not saying he is close or anything like that, but I think he's getting more confident on it. I still believe he is a ways away, but I think it might be more of a convenience thing with the Bye week coming up. No need to open up his 21 day window when the last week would occur during the Bye week with no practice. It's just more beneficial to wait until the week after the Bye and open it up then. He gets 3 more weeks of healing and training and the team doesn't waste a week of the window. That's just my thoughts on it. Regardless, I think he is looking a bit better every week.
  12. Big fan of Alontae Taylor. I'd make that trade now if it could be done. They are not trading Knox. This TE room has the perfect blend happening right now. What they have them doing in the run game, coupled with what Hawes and Knox are doing opening up things for Kincaid is working great. They are more likely to restructure or even extend Knox next year than trade him this year. I think they have the perfect TE mix right now and there is no way I am messing with it. I would love to get a dominant run stuffing DT in here. But Beane hasn't really shown the same interest in a run stuffer that I have. A better backup RB would be nice, but I don't think they do anything there either. The next few weeks might tell us a lot about what we need going into the trade deadline. Gotta get some injured and suspended guys back and put it all on the field to see what it looks like. But if the Saints want to trade Alontae Taylor, I'll do that right now. In fact, what would it cost to steal one of their WRs? Olave or Shaheed would be PERFECT additions to our WR room.
  13. It's definitely encouraging to see the injured guys starting to come back. They would be welcome additions against a tough division matchup. That said, hopefully they will be healthy enough to make an impact. Oliver still looks like he has a bit of a limp. Not terrible, but noticeable. If he can't create the same explosion off the ball that he normally does, that's not great for a player that relies on that quickness and explosion. As for Milano, who knows where he's at. He's never been the best tackler out there and if he has to wear a harness, that isn't going to help matters. And of course that's just this injury. Do we really expect him to be able to get through the rest of the season healthy? I don't have much hope for that. As for the more serious injuries, I said it a couple weeks ago and I will say it again now. I don't think they open Hairston's 21 Day window until after the Bye at the earliest. It only makes sense. If they did it now, the last week would be the week of the Bye and they wouldn't be practicing as a team anyway. So, give him 3 more weeks and see where he's at then. If he's close, open up the window and maybe we see him by Week 11-13. As for Bass, I am in no hurry to see him kick over Prater. Prater has been more than fine and I have not been nervous once when he's kicking realistic FG distances where any kick with Bass has me chewing my fingernails. No hurry to get him back either. We have some roster decisions to make as it is with the suspended guys coming back. No need to rush the guys on IR on top[ of it.
  14. As I said above, while I get why they do ties, I just think it is really anticlimactic for a game, especially like this one, to end in a tie. We just watched a 4 hour football game and we didn't get a winner. What makes it worse it that it was a really entertaining game that, had their been a winner, would have been in contention for game of the year. But no tie can be considered in that conversation if you ask me. I just think that as good of a game as this was, it will largely be forgotten sooner rather than later because there was no winner. I get people wanting to go to the college rules. But those rules do seem to have inherent flaws in terms of strategy and wanting to go second to know exactly what you need to do. I think a better solution is to do what the NFL does, but just repeat it until you get a winner. Coin toss. Possession by both teams. Repeat until you get a winner. Maybe make going for 2 mandatory. Or, if you don't want to do that, just keep the rules the way they are, but just don't have a time limit. Have a clock to keep track of all important timing issues, but make it so there isn't an end of game after a certain time. Make it so if what happens tonight happens, that the next score wins no matter what. The game just ends when the next team scores whether it happens in 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 23 minutes.....whatever it is. Just play until you have a winner. But these teams laid it on the line all week leading up to the game and then 4 hours during the game. There really should be a winner for the work they put in.
  15. Wow.....that was terrible clock management. They got extremely lucky to get out of there with a tie. That ball pops up in the air or something, that last second ticks off. A tie is fine, but man, I would love to move on to another OT. Feels kind of anti climactic after that game for it to end in a tie. Really wanted a winner.
  16. Just a few thoughts on this game. 1. You want to beat the Ravens? Score a couple of TDs on them early while getting 2 or 3 stops on defense. This gets Henry off the field and all of a sudden the 2x MVP has to do it by himself and he just can't. Their offense literally runs through Henry and he is the key to their success on offense. If they are one dimensional and you have no fear of a freight train running over you on every play, they are much easier to defend. And, while they have a ton of talent on defense, for whatever reason, it is not coming together for them yet. 2. The Chiefs are far from dead. In fact, when Rice comes back and they can put him out there with Worthy, Brown, and Thorton, I am not sure there will be a better overall WR corps in the league. 3. Mahomes is good. Really good. Not sure he is as good as the glazing he gets week in and week out, but he's good, especially when he has a full compliment of weapons. He may not be Allen that can make it work with a bunch of nobodies, but with the talent and speed they will be able to put out there when Rice comes back is going to be tough to handle. 4. Probably the most frustrating part of all of this is that they have Spags calling that defense. And with Jones in the middle of it, their defense is the reason that team has been as successful as they have. It doesn't matter how good their offense is a lot of the time because their defense is always dominant when they need it the most. Can we offer him like $20 mill this week to come run our defense? Anyway, it is what it is. It's a long season and so much can happen injury-wise to change things drastically. But I would suspect these are still the 2 teams we will have to get through to have a chance to win a Super Bowl.
  17. It's good to win. Of course it is and it's all that ultimately matters. But I am hoping one of these weeks we put it together on both sides of the ball from start to finish. Anyway....time to go watch the Chiefs and Ravens hopefully beat the crap out of each other for 60+ minutes....
  18. Honestly, the players came through overall. There were ups and downs for all of them, but in the end, they made the plays that mattered. Allen, Shakir, Cook, all did their jobs. While the run defense was pitiful, they finally got the pass rush going the last 2 drives. We need to get Ed healthy ASAP. Bosa had an OK game overall, but man.....he showed he can be the difference maker we need in crunch time with the pass rushes he had down the stretch. I will have to watch the tape to see how he played most of the game, but Bishop made a game changing play at the end of the half. And, here's my weekly shout out to Hawes. What a difference maker he is for this offense. Does all the dirty things well and is serviceable enough in the pass game to make a big play every week. Love watching that kid block, though. The down? Easy.... the coaching staff. McDermott and both coordinators had a tough day I think. Yes, we scored 30 again. I get that. But man, some of the play calls on offense in the middle of that game were head-scratching. And the defense was shredded all day except for the last drive and a half. And finally, the offensive line I thought had their worst game of the season so far. Allen was constantly pressured. They opened up a couple nice holes for Cook, but Cook made them look better than they were today. We missed Brown badly.
  19. Bosa with the strip sack with a nice clean up by AJ to end it. Took all game to get a pass rush, but man, they got it going the last couple drives. Not the game we expected, but still won by double digits. Crazy. Just wish they could put it all together from start to finish for once. Not sure this performance beats NE. Going to have to be much better.
  20. Finally some good pressure the last couple drives.....
  21. Johnston is one tough dude....I'll give him that. If he can kick next week, I will let him stick around just to reward the toughness. As for the FG..... Think I may have tried to end it right there, but I understand why they kicked.
  22. Josh rollout..... He tosses or keeps it... Let him make the choice.
  23. Just call Zach Davidson...... He can fill in at punter for a while.
