Some people value education for reasons beyond the ability to earn more money.
I believe Leinert's was to get laid, right?

2.) When was the last time a "knee" ended a QBs career? Luck would have to break his neck or get his throwing arm amputated to drop in draft position.
It didn't end it, but it seemed that Carson Palmer was 3rd only to Brady and Manning in 2005 (I think that was the year) and hasn't been the same since.

Why is there always just one picture of hot chicks in the news. I want to make a more informed judgement.
But, to those who say maybe on her, you've got to be kidding. Even the article talks about the kids talking about how pretty she is. Is the question that everybody is answering - would you make her your girlfriend or would you do her? Because for the 2nd one, when I was boozing, chasing like crazy, etc., the bar was very high on the first question and VERY low on the 2nd!
-
Is that serious? If so how did you miss the 40 yard option run on 3rd and 17 against us just 4 days ago?
I didn't watch the game very close. I was too busy and it was ridiculous. I did see that guy then, but I just didn't even care enough to note his name.

Oregon State...where I went.
Yup, if my alma mater had a football team, I'm pretty sure I'd have to go with that.....And, like I said, as crazy as it sounds, I'm probably about equal with my college basketball team vs. the Bills. We have a VERY tight alumni base - even after 25 years, we still are in constant contact and get together all the time.......I would think a place like Corvallis would breed the same type of bonds.

There are SO many reasons why gambling on Newton makes sense for The Bills...Even if you're 100% against Newton you would have to admit The Bills are in desperate need of sparking this Franchise with a big name talent...And lets be honest...Luck might be the better Prospect, but there is no bigger name in College Football this year than Cam Newton...He's bigger than life and he's plenty talented...He would bring HUGE attention to this Bills Team off the field, and I have to believe Gailey is going to think he can Coach him up plenty...In 2011 he would be the Bills version of Brad Smith...Then move into the Starting role in 2012 or 2013...Just my guess...I'm not saying that's what I want The Bills to do...I'm just saying I would totally understand if they did it...
Brad Smith? I had to google him just to find out who he is.

A rematch of their "classic" USFL game!
Oh, yeah - I never even thought about that. If that was the greatest game nobody saw, this may have been the greatest game we all saw!......I really loved watching Steve Young.
-
Yes, do you remember the no-punt game? Kelly finally outscored Montana in the end.
It was actually Steve Young and not Montana. Not disagreeing with what you guys are saying, though.

I find all of this retrospective blaming of the Bills for partying to be misplaced at best. When the Raiders won Super Bowl XV over Philly, everyone talked about how great it was that Matuszak and company partied like crazy while the Iggles under Vermeil were too tight. It all comes down to how the game was played. I also think that the complaint that Kelly did not hand off enough is only partially true. Sure, TT could have run more, but that was also a function of how few plays the Bills ran. The tackling problems we all know about. If Andre Reed holds onto a third down pass after the safety, the Bills would have had more TOP, more plays, and probably more carries. In the end, it came down to one point and two feet. That's the way it goes....
I couldn't have said it better myself. In fact, I tried to about three posts before yours:
Of course, I remember when the Raiders beat the Eagles in '80, they said it was because Vermeil had the Eagles too tight, while the Raiders were out partying! I guess it depends who wins whether it's good or bad to party!

Funny...it seems that the Broncos are paying attention to the Bills...Studesville (ex-Bills running backs coach) was their interim manager, and now, they are intereted in interviewing Mike Mularkey, Gregg Williams and Perry Fewell for their permanent HC job...
If you ask me, this means they have not been paying attention to the Bills!

Looks like I'm the only one that voted for the college side.
What college is it?

Actually, Kelly did not sat that at all. He isn't the smoothest speaker (though he is much better than he used to be), but the whole interview turns, one point, to talking about being hung-over for a game, after Patrick makes the comment that people used to accuse he and some of his old ESPN partners of being drunk on the air.
Patrick asks Kelly if he ever drank the night before a game...he emphatically says "no, it was hard enough having to call my own plays, with six concussions...etc etc.." Then he back-tracks a little and says the only drinking he did the night before a game was 1 glass of wine with an Italian dinner...Patrick then asks Kelly if he knew other guys who played hung-over or drunk, to which Kelly says, laughing, "yes, definitely...not naming names"....
Kelly then explains his well known game day tradition of vomiting before a game, so people might have thought he was hung-over...but he insists he did that even in high school...then they ask him about some other QB's, and Patrick says "You couldn't imagine Joe Montana, Joe Cool, vomiting before a game?" Kelly laughs and says something like "knowing Joe like I do, I can imagine it...he was so good he could probably play hung-over"....after much laughter, Kelly gets a little tounge-tied (this is where I think you came in) and says "Maybe I wish I would have (not "wouldn't have") played hung-over"...inferring that it might have changed his luck in one of those big games...but, no, he never admits to playing hungover, or drunk.
My own opinion, living in Buffalo during those early Kelly years, it wasn't uncommon for him to be seen at places like Mr Goodbar, with guys like Talley and Bennett, during the week...there was always the rumor that Kelly was seen loaded, the night before a big game toward the end of the 1987 season, where the Bills had to beat the Pats at home, to keep their playoff hopes alive. Kelly had one of his worst games...and the rumors about him being drunk never seemed to leave him. Personally, I don't believe he was out getting drunk the night before a Super Bowl...but once you get a rep, it is hard to live down.
It always seems to me, people who hold this notion that the Bills partied too hard before Super Bowls might just want to be finding some reason, beyond that the Bills were the second best team on the field those Super Bowl nights...its' easier to have a culprit, find someone/something to blame...but the Bills weren't really as good as the Redskins or the Cowboys. I would still give them the edge over the NY Giants, but I think that was as much a case of luck, and Parcells/Bellichek outclassing our coaching staff. That Giants victory become the blueprint for any game where a defensive squad faces a potent offense...(sigh) I need a drink...
I just listened to the whole thing for this Jimbo mea culpa, and I shouldn't have bothered since what you said is exactly how the interview went.
Biscuit actually said the Bills partied too much during Super Bowl weeks, though, so I think there is some merit to it....Of course, I remember when the Raiders beat the Eagles in '80, they said it was because Vermeil had the Eagles too tight, while the Raiders were out partying! I guess it depends who wins whether it's good or bad to party!

LOL!! There isn't one word that is true there, including the one about Donahoe being there.

And yet strangely forgiving of convicted female teacher sex offenders.
LOL!!

You've never heard of Lomas Brown? Sad really that a great O-lineman doesn't get his due. Click here to learn more
What are you talking about? Lomas Brown was picked 6th. We were comparing 2-4 vs. 7-9, which was what was being discussed Saturday night/Sunday morning here.

As a whole, this community is not a fan of anybody or anything.

I think the big question is whether Carolina takes Mallett after Luck announces he's staying at Stanford for his senior year (it almost makes me hope Luck does enter the draft, just to make sure we get Mallett).
You would root for something in the Bills best interests and be wrong in the process?
-
I thought this was going to be one of those Hitler videos again.

If only the birds in Arkansas knew how to take pictures..

You're absolutely right. Cherrypicking the 1985 draft tells us everything about how the 2011 draft will shake out. You should definitely share your careful statistical analysis with OBD and make sure they do not trade into the 7-9 picks. You should also remind them to trade for pick #86, because that is where they secured Andre Reed in 1985.
I didn't cherry pick it. Somebody put a link to it in this thread, and I noticed how good those top 4 picks were. Then, I looked lower and never heard of those guys.
Sorry you didn't get your win you would be feeling so good about today.

A simple yes would suffice. I just asked the question.
-
The majority of the top QBs are in the Manning/Brady mold and Newton is not that. Newton is a risk but the upside is collosal.
There are two people int he Manning/Brady mold - their names are Manning and Brady.
-
Didnt Aaron Rodgers fall, being a product of Jeff Tedfords system and history of failed QBs such as Dilfer, Akili Smith, Harrington, David Carr and Kyle Boller? See where Im going with this.
Did Tedford coach all those guys?

I can tell you this -- "hanged" in regards to suicides, lynchings, etc., has been around for many, many years. A search on the New York Times website will show results back to mid-1800s of men "hanged."
Yeah, but I went to school before the mid-1800s.
Luck will not declare for the draft. Breaking news...

I really like what this front office is doing. That would have been the move to make!
I thought the same thing. I am sooooooo glad we didn't end up with the first pick. Not only would we be disappointed beyond belief, but we'd think it because he didn't want to come to Buffalo.
