I think most would agree we can't waste more of JA's prime.

    Wrong

McClappy has some seriously ardent fans here. He could miss the playoffs this year ( which he very well might) and you still hear,” Remember the drought.” And “ He’s a good coach who’s had bad luck.”  Or my fav , “ Pegs likes him too much.”

I however completely agree with your sentiment.

The ESPN article I read said that Belichick was interested in the Cowboys, Eagles, and the Giants positions.  It said nothing about Buffalo.  Also I would argue that all 3 HC’s for those teams are in a “make or break” year.  There’s a good chance at least one is out of a job next year.

It’s going to take a lot to get McDermott fired.  Even if Buffalo finishes somewhere in the 6 or 7 win range( which I don’t think they will) there’s a built-in excuse this season with all the change and cap resetting.

    But….but….. It’s not a rebuild….. Shakir blah blah blah , mark my word……..We can win the SB……..

    Built in excuse my arse!

As long as McD is presiding over its coaching , you are 100% correct….

    but, oh, I forgot, it’s not a rebuild 😔

    Von miller contract

    Stephen diggs contract

Defense line draft picks that never pan out

Defense tackle signings that are not good enough

    No reliable pass rusher

    Wyatt Teller give away

    Edmunds

Just curious why he is so highly regarded when these issues have come to roost fully

        Careful about criticizing their leaders!!

    That doesn’t go well here😂

I think Beane has done an above average job and is a solid GM. I don’t think he’s stellar though.

My biggest complaint is having allowed McD to dictate so many D pickups . Some will jump on this and ask “ Where’s the proof?” But it seems too obvious the onus that has been put on building out the D from the get go. Von Miller was a semi trash signing at the time and in hindsight a disaster.

A multi generational talent at QB and he has been given sub par o lines and sub par rushing help. The Diggs signing was brilliant but that opportunity/window was squandered.
Beane needs to use all his picks and hit of a few Receivers and a safety this draft. He doesn’t need to give away multiple firsts and more for a single receiver, not in a draft this deep at the position with all the needs we have.

No one is arguing the Bills are going to make a deeper playoff run now.

You are free to argue with yourself on that one.

    You didn’t read:

A: The premise of this thread

B: Plenty of posters who have made the very point that we can still make a deep run AND win the SuperBowl .

    But, yeah , it’s me🤷‍♂️

There's nothing that they have done that I really feel will effect much. They were all aging players that were the downsides of their careers and too expensive to keep. A rebuild to me means you're tearing it all up. It also means to me that they feel what they are doing isn't working. I personally feel those guys were all let go because of their cap numbers and age and injury history. Not because they felt the need to just start over

I agree. But, what is being brought in behind them is an unknown and represents a re tooling, not just physically but also chemistry-wise( leadership-wise). Ergo, that window closed and we are back in a building mode, maybe not square one but we are squarely out of the Favorites category. The only reason we are near the top… Josh. The same reason this regime has gotten anywhere. The ultimate cover for mediocre coaching.

My point is, the ultimate leader keeps trying to place blame on others when the buck should ultimately fall at his feet. I’ve seen enough to realize the only way we win it all is to fluke our way into it. Should that suck? NOPE!!!! But, that Isn’t a plan. That’s hope and wishful thinking.

I think Beane and McD are good enough to give us a 10% chance to win the SB in any given year.  I'm just hoping it happens sooner rather than later.  And/or I underestimate them.

Taking Josh or Mahomes out of the equation, if they had any other QB , what would your percentage be?

We aren’t talking about the playoffs, try to keep up.

    My LAMP, my direction.
I went through 17 years of not talking about the playoffs. Getting there is not good enough unless you like always being the bridesmaid.

Remember that QB for the Denver Broncos…, a whole lot of window is still open…,

Remember Marino, Fouts, Moon, Esiason……The time to strike is when the opportunity presents itself.

2021 was an epic fail and this opportunity has closed. McD will keep it permanent closed. Giving him a second shot, a start over with essentially a whole new rebuilt squad is ludicrous.

Nothing in football is guaranteed. Josh could break an ankle and we could win 2 games.

ultimately, outside of health, here’s what I believe.

Sean McD can coach defense in the regular season. Despite probably being an older team with some new faces on the backend at safety, imo it’s practically a guarantee we are a top tenish d at least.

Josh Allen is still far and away the best QB in the division and the second best in the conference/NFL.

Combine a top 2 QB and a top 10 defense and that’s a playoff team just about every year. That’s as close to a guarantee as you can get.

Unless your D consistently fails in dramatic fashion almost every playoff.

I feel he should get credit for the Baltimore game but then I think I should consider : It was Lamar AND a single game preserving/changing play by a DB that was amazing and somewhat improbable at the same time.

Josh played PERFECT ball two years ago, historically perfect and what did it get us?

Last game, he played out of his mind and a bunch on here were trying to blame the loss on him. WTAF?

  9.    Sammy Watkins was a great, can’t miss two # 1s WR….

        Let’s try it again?

You keep your picks, and through shrewd drafting we can be in the catbird seat Next year with multiple starters on rookie contracts.
This year is a rebuilding year. Accept that for the fact it is and stop pissing away capital, both monetary and draft, on quick fix gambles.

Not to mention this is the best and deepest WR draft maybe in draft history.

Kelce is a shadow of himself, honestly. He's still good but not the dominant force he used to be. And the Bills have a good defense too.

There's really nothing to be panicking about, especially before the roster is even set.

A couple TDs and back breaking uncontested catches? Old Kelce made a mockery of our piss poor D in the last game.

Nope!!! I’ve been assured by multiple reputable posters on this here Wall, people in the Know, that we are fine.
Nothing to see or question! The Bills got this😉

O'Cyrus Torrence says hi. Tre White too. Zay Jones was in for 79% of snaps. Terrel Bernard played 93% of snaps in game he wasn't injured in, 999 snaps.

If you're good enough right off, he'll put you in. And it'll be easier still in years when the roster has some real holes, which this group does right now.

Other than QB and Tackle, what is the hardest position to learn?

And N. Peterman says high back😁

So let me get this straight...

We got a 2nd round pick(the Vikings) and traded Diggs, a 4th rounder this year and a 5th rounder next year? AND just took a $31 million cap hit this year too?

Are you fvcking kidding me?? Where is the money coming from to do this?

Now we are like $25 million over the cap again.

there were multiple rookies better than diggs last yr

Yeah, but were they playing for McD….. the guy who put rookie Cooke in the dog house? Cooke who was averaging 5.7?!?! A guy who only had to have the ball handed to him, not run routes.

The idea that a rookie ( or rookies) are going to come in and BE ALLOWED to contribute goes against what we know about this HC.

With two 2nd's next year, a high pick from next year is being used this year... I believe that to be the calculus.

We currently have Shakir and Samuel... We're getting two WR's in the Top 100 picks this year.

Because this staff has shown a propensity to stock the O side?

I know they did last year but two years in a row?

Couple that with the fact with our S and LB situation and if I’m a betting person ( which I’m not) my money is on a S or LB in the first two picks this year.
Also, I know scared money don’t make money but after Sammy I’m reticent of trading a first to move up for a “ Sure fire, can’t miss” rookie WR.

  16. 1 hour ago, Cash said:

We'd better not sell off next year's #1 to move up for a WR.  This could be a down year (so could any year, if Allen gets hurt) and our 2025 #1 could be in the teens instead of the twenties.

Excellent and reasonable point….. but half this board wants to trade the farm away for a single rookie WR 😒
