  1. I watched 3 games each of the top 6 prospects. See chart below for my rankings. My scoring system is weighted... for example... decision making has a weighting of 3x... under center experience has a 1.5x weighting My 3 general takeaways are this - Mayfield and Rosen are on their own elite level - Darnold is not worth a top 10 pick - Rudolph could be a serviceable starter.. not a high ceiling.. but could be Tannehill Flame away:) Click on the image below to bring up the chart in viewable size.
  2. according to Spotrac Eli's cap hit is ~$13 mil in 2018 and 2019 has an out clause. that is certainly affordable...i'd be up to trade Tyrod in for Eli as the place holder vet for next couple years. question is... what will NYG ask in trade for him? would they release him? I would not give up more than a 2nd for Eli personally and playing Geno first over Davis Webb is a dumb move. Davis Webb was my favorite qb prospect the year he was drafted.. I think he has solid potential.. way more than Geno
  3. yep.. that is sort of our scheme.. keep the guy in front of you and make the tackle. Hopefully that'll eliminate guys like Ginn getting behind the D for big plays. I think it all boils down to our run game getting going early. If we can establish the threat of the run a backup safety would likely be very vulnerable to biting on the play action. I really hope Clay is back to playing shape this game. I think he'll be the key this week.
  4. Hi .. thanks. My view is that Thursday night games are abborations and not useful indicatiors of a team's true identity. In that light.. I think the O lIne was beat up against the Jets (especially Glenn and Incognito) and the short week really contributed to their poor play. Hopefully the extra few days rest allows the O Line to put their best foot forward. I'm also hoping for bad weather (that certainly helped in the Raiders game) to be our friend. The forecast keeps changing.. yesterday it called for 70% chance of rain.. and now today I see it's calling for mostly cloudy 20% chance of rain.
  5. I've taken a few minutes to look at Pro Football Focus and see where the mismatches may be. Below are a few matchups to watch with PFF grades sprinkled in. ( yes I realize PFF ratings are not perfect but they are directionally useful) SAINTS OFFENSE VS. BILLS D Ted Ginn (79.8 PFF grade) vs. S. Wright (56.6) or EJ Gaines (fully healthy) or Micah Hyde / Poyer Ginn is still very fast and Brees will look to go deep to him at any time. Shareece Wright is susceptible to double moves and is not really that fast Gaines will likely not be 100% if he does play PLAY NOTES: NO is backed up 3 and 8 at their own 13. Do they play it safe ... no they are going for it all even though they are inside their own 20 Looks like TB shows Cover 4 but is actually Cover 3 here.. which should theoretically prevent the deep ball the CB plays way too wide and the Safety inexplicably gets caught peeking in the backfield Ginn is wide open for what should have been an easy 87 yd TD but fortunately for TB Brees overthrows him. PLAY NOTES TB appears to be in Cover 4 here below.. which again.. should theoretically prevent the deep ball S Play Action makes S #21 peek in backfield for extra second Ted Ginn makes nice feint move to outside faking flag route turning #21 hips and then goes back inside on the go route Result wide open Ted Ginn easy 36 yd TD SUMMARY - Our CBs and Safeties need to forget about INTs and getting too caught up in making big plays. Instead they should focus on keeping the play in front of them and focusing solely on their man. If they get caught peeking in the backfield or trying to be too aggressive thinking that they've sniffed out a play they will most certainly get burned by Ginn/Brees and company. Fortunately our defense is built on zone play, keeping guy in front of you and making the tackle.. so if the Bills secondary can stay disciplined and avoid the big play they should be able to keep NO in the 20's. Brees is going to get his completions.. there is really no stopping that.. just need to eliminate the big plays. Kyle Williams vs. LG Peat (44.7) or C Unger (38.4) Brees may be short.. but he truly is a classic pocket passer. Our best chance to rattle him is to bring pressure up the middle in his face Both Unger and Peat are rated very poorly. Meatball is still very quick off the snap and in this D he is full steam ahead on getting penetration If KW can get pressure on his own.. or if the Bills can have some successful A B gap or zero blitzes up the gut we should be able to rattle Brees BILLS OFFENSE VS. SAINTS D TE O'Leary / Clay vs. S K. Vaccaro / LB AJ Klein Per PFF .. the weak links are S K. Vaccaro ( 41.1 rating) and LB A. J. Klein ( 36.5) The Saints CBs are both very highly rated as is their D Line. The soft spot appears to be the short/middle spot where Klein and Vaccaro spend a lot of time. If the Bills can implement a game plan similar to Denver and the Jets where the run is established and play action can be used.. these TEs should be able to move the chains and make plays vs. these poorly rated second level players. OT Jordan Mills vs. DE Cam Jordan ( 90.7) Cam Jordan has 7 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. Jordan Mills has had ups and downs this year in pass protect. He was solid against Khalil Mack but in other games he has been embarrased by the pass rusher in front of him. The Bills will likely need to give Mills some help in the form of FB or TE chipping his man.. or maybe running at him early and then using play action to put him on his heels If the Bills get into a situation where they are down by a few scores and are in obvious passing downs then Cam Jordan could end up having a big day
  6. The unforced error bailing the pocket in the end zone was borderline. The potential throw to Clay had a high degree of difficulty. You could argue that not throwing there was good situational football. My point on that play is that there was no need to drift out of the pocket. It looked a lot like other times when he drifted out early and there were legitimate open guys he missed on
  7. Yes.. i think of them as 1 person McBeane... so Yes .. good job Mickey D I agree there would be growing pains switchting to RT but I think it would be worth it in the long run (assuming Cordy can get healthy)
  8. If TT takes a hair off that K Clay throw and Zay catches his deep ball TT's stat line would have looked much different. I feel so relieved that bombs away is back. Bengals will be watching that film and will have to respect that deep ball. I expect Shady to see lighter boxes and have a big day
  9. Muchos gracias. Every week I waffle on whether or not to make this post as it is time consuming.. but once I get started I get suxked in
  10. Unforced errors.. bad throws/ How did the O Line do?/ What mistakes are on the O-Line.. what ones are not? I watched the NFL rewind all 22 and here is my unofficial count of how the O-Line did / How the QB did on every pass play (I may have missed a snap or two here or there. There also may be a few extra pass attempts that were cancelled due to penalties but this should be 95% accurate) Sufficient protection means that TT had time to hit his drop and had at least a second to scan the field. DISCLAIMER (I am not a coach, I don't know the hot reads or route combinations called.. this is just my educated perception of what happened on each pass play) _______ ______________________ TOTAL PASS PLAYS: 27 - (Last week was 33) LINE BREAKDOWNS: 5/27 or 19% ( last week was 8/33 or 24% ). In other words TT didn't really have a chance on 19% of his drop backs. Based on historical data the threshold for average O Line performance has been around a 20% breakdown rate.. so lets say the O Line (including TEs.. more on that later) was average against the Falcons SUFFICIENT PROTECTION: 22/27 or 81% (last week was 25/33 or 76%). In other words TT had a relatively clean pocket 81% of the time. UNFORCED QB ERRORS: 6/27 or 22% ( last week was 1/33 or 3%) Based on my 2015/16 studies if the Bills' QBs commit 5 unforced QB errors or less during a game their odds of winning are solid. TT had 6 unforced errors by my count. This is slightly above the danger zone. As we will see later.. the good thing is his poor throws were mostly "safe" overthrows on deep balls. O LINE PERFORMANCE DION DAWKINS - had a really solid day. By my observation there were no obvious pressures given up by DD. RICHIE INCOGNITO – Richie was solid for most of the day in pass protect. His man drove him into the pocket once but even then he was stout enough. ERIC WOOD – Wood had a bit of a tough day handling #97. q1 6:40 - SACK - Wood is beaten one on one by #97 creating pressure in TT's face. Mills doubles down on the LG instead of helping TE O'Leary who is left alone to block the DE... which is not a fair fight. q2 15 :00 - Wood beaten by #97 again JOHN MILLER – Much better performance today from #76. He had a false start in Q4 but other than that was solid in pass protect JORDAN MILLS – Better than the previous weeks.. however.. Mills did have 2 bad plays by my count. q1: 6:40 - SACK The first was the above mentioned play where Wood was beaten by #97. For some reason Mills doubles the DT and leaves O'Leary one on one with the DE. Not a fair fight q4 - 15:00- SACK - Mills beaten badly on inside move by #50. He nearly falls on his face here. He has a really bad habit of waist bending and lunging. O LINE PASS BLOCK GRADES DION DAWKINS – B+ RICHIE INCOGNITO – B ERIC WOOD - C JOHN MILLER – B JORDAN MILLS – C O'LEARY HIT AND MISS - q4 6:54 - O'Leary does just enough to chip #90 to buy enough time for TT to unload a beauty deep throw to Clay (while taking a hit) TYROD UNFORCED ERRORS – By my count TT had 6 unforced errors. There were several instances where he sensed "phantom pressure" and bailed out of the pocket early resulting in lost opportunities. There were also several off target deep throws. OVERTHROWS Q2 14:53 - TT has #97 in his face.. however.. he rushes the throw a hair and miss Jones deep TT BAILING EARLY - PHANTOM PRESSURE Q3- 13:48 - It's subtle here.. but TT has a clean pocket and for some reason drifts to the left. If he shuffle steps up and throws he has Clay down the seam.. however.. he tucks his head down and throws a checkdown to Shady short of the chains resulting in a punt. TT PHANTOM PRESSURE AGAIN Q2 14:49 - TT has clean pocket.. feels phantom pressure.. drifts right unnecessarily resulting in scramble for short gain. Also.. Dion Dawkins dominates his man here. DD is gonna be good. Nice job Brandon Beane. - TT GOOD DEEP THROW Q2 - 3:47 - Here's a good example where TT gets max protect ( TE stays in.. Shady does nice job picking up blitzer) and throws a very catchable ball to Zay Jones who drops it GAME SUMMARY The O Line played fairly well today.. there were several instances where TT had a nice clean pocket and had time to go through several reads (which doesn't happen very often). Dion Dawkins is a budding star.. it will be really interesting to see what happens when Cordy Glenn comes back. From what I saw the Falcons rarely stunted or blitzed.. usually keeping a Safety as a shadow on TT. TT had another good week of running the naked bootleg play and making a few tough throws on the run with unblocked defenders in his face (the one to Clay comes to mind). There were some nice timing routes earlier in the game where the ball came out quick giving the receivers time for YAC. There were several plays where the receivers really didn't get any separation. The team really needs several upgrades to help out whoever the QB is going to be in 2018 as this group of WRs has a tough time running good routes to get open. I'm still a little frustrated that TT is feeling that "phantom pressure" .. if he can just relax a little and get rid of that tendency to drift right or left unnecessarily I think he will start seeing some of those deep seam routes open up. Several of his unforced errors were overthrows on deep balls.. and while I had to categorize them as unforced I am happy that they were taking shots down the field finally. He missed Kaelin Clay a few times and overthrew Zay Jones once. However.. he and Clay definitely have their timing down. Hopefully with a few more weeks of practice and reps he'll be able to get timing down with Kaelin Clay and Zay. If that happens.. and Dennison keeps dialing long distance then the Bills will always have a puncher's chance in whatever game they play. By my count they attempted at least 7 deep balls. __ _____ SIGNIFICANT PLAYS q1 6:40 - SACK - O'Leary left to block a DE by himself as Mills chooses to help John Miller instead of his TE. Wood is beaten as well. q1 5:18 - UNFORCED ERROR - TT has time but overthrows K. Clay deep Q2 15:00 - Wood beaten by #97 q2 14:53 - UNFORCED ERROR - TT has 97 closing in.. however.. he throws a hair to early and overthrows Zay Jones q214:49 - UNFORCED ERROR - TT feels phantom pressure . bails out of clean pocket to the right resulting in a short gain. q2 : 10:25 - UNFORCED ERROR - TT naked bootleg left.. has time.. overthrows an open Zay Jones q2 7:22 - Incredible Houdini play where naked bootleg is not there.. TT reverses the field and throws a strike to a double covered Clay 30 yards downfield. q2 4:23 - Corner bats away a well thrown slant to Zay Jones q2 3:47 - Max protect.. TT has time.. Zay Jones drops catchable deep ball q2 :18 - UNFORCED ERROR - TT has time.. overthrows K. Clay deep q3 15:00 - SACK - Jordan Mills beaten to the inside by #50 q3 13:48- UNFORCED ERROR - TT senses "phantom pressure" ..bails out of clean pocket early and misses out of open Clay down the deep seam. Checks down to Shady instead resulting in 4th down q4 13:00 John Miller False Start q4 6:54 - TT bootleg.. takes hit and hits deep throw to Clay. O'Leary gets just enough of a chip block on the backside to give TT time to throw.
  11. He is a rookie so figuring in a learning curve is reasonable. My worry is that TT will stop throwing his way if he has a few more drops like that.
  12. It's really too bad that Glenn has been injured most of preseason/first 3 weeks. Because of that Dawkins probably will play LT for the foreseeable future.. and I have confidence he will fill in just fine... but still it is a damn shame. Dawkins has had to play most of his practice reps at LT and hasn't been able to work on the right side much due too that. Earlier in the preseason they had Henderson at LT and Dawkins rotating with Mills at RT so I'm pretty sure the team drafted him to learn and eventually take over at RT. I really don't want him to end up being a "swing tackle" . I really hope Glenn gets his ankles healed up soon so Dawkins can start getting valuable RT reps.
  13. Thank you. Henderson needs to attend some meetings alright.. 12 step meetings and learn how to play OT meetings:) All joking aside.. I have very low expectations that Henderson will unseat or be better than Mills.
  14. The O Line itself was about the same as Carolina but the poor blocking from tight ends dragged down everyone
  15. I didn't notice it as much in the live broadcast ..but wow.. it was bad in rewatch When TT rolls out .. especially on a naked bootleg.. he probably knows he is going to have an unblocked end or LB to contend with. Technically it is his responsibility to work around that guy..pump fake.. whatever.. but it is tough to expect him to win those one on one situations every time. There were a few times where the unblocked guy ( usually Von Miller) won.. and a few where TT won. I think the baseball error description made earlier is a great way to look at it. Thanks. 2 tough D's for sure. Very different Ds I would say Carolina did a lot of stunting .. camouflage to get to the QB. Denver did a lot more straight up speed rushing. Either way it could have been a lot worse pass protect wise all things considered. Our line is quite solid.. except for Jordan Mills. I'm for giving Groy a shot. Although I don't grade the run blocking.. it's pretty obvious that Miller has struggled doing that and his pass protect is average at best. Henderson was horrific in the preseason and I doubt he will be any better than Mills once he comes back. I'd really like to see Dawkins get some reps at RT. It may take him a few games to adjust over there as he is a natural RT but these real game reps would be invaluable. If we have healthy Glenn / steady Dawkins manning the tackles by the end of the year.. we have a chance to have a top 10 O Line
  16. Yes.. good point. He is way too conservative to every be able to even approach what Rodgers does. Rodgers makes 3 or 4 of those O'Leary throws per game. Perhaps I missed a play.. Like I say in my disclaimer.. I may have missed a snap or two.
  17. Does seem counterintuitive.. but the good QB's do it all the time. I've been watching Aaron Rodgers closely the last few weeks (I have football ticket and he is my fantasy QB). He has a horrendous O line..much worse than Bills ..but through his mobility and also by getting the ball out quickly he is able to counter the pressure he sees. I think TT's real issue is fearing the "phantom pressure" more than fearing the real thing as crazy as that sounds. Good news is the phantom pressure only got him once this game... whereas most games it gets him 3 or 4 times. Again.. a lot of this stems from the effective running game and play action which opens up windows for TT to throw into. I'm still not sure how he will do if defenses play the pass straight up and don't bite on Play Action.
  18. DISCLAIMER (I am not a coach, I don't know the hot reads or route combinations called.. this is just my educated perception of what happened on each pass play) _______ ______________________ TOTAL PASS PLAYS: 33 - (Last week was 35) LINE BREAKDOWNS: 8/33 or 24% ( last week was 7/35 or 20% ). In other words TT didn't really have a chance on 24% of his drop backs. Based on historical data the threshold for average O Line performance has been around a 20% breakdown rate.. so lets say the O Line (including TEs.. more on that later) was below average against the Broncos SUFFICIENT PROTECTION: 25/33 or 76% (last week was28/35 or 80%). In other words TT had a relatively clean pocket 76% of the time. UNFORCED QB ERRORS: 1/33 or 3% ( last week was 7/35 or 20%) Based on my 2015/16 studies if the Bills' QBs commit 5 unforced QB errors or less during a game their odds of winning are solid. TT had 1 unforced error by my count which historically ties his lowest number. The only other time he had one unforced error was 2015 against the Titans in the comeback game where he got hurt. BOTTOM LINE DION DAWKINS - Von Miller blew by Dion Dawkins for a sack on the first play of the game .. and I must admit that scared the hell out of me. To Dawkins credit.. he rallied back and played quite well in pass protect the rest of the game. Q1 12:19 – Von Miller undresses a timid Dion Dawkins q2 :19 - Dawkins rallies and uses excellent technique, anchors and holds back 48. TT has time and delivers pass for first down q2 15:00 - PLAY ACTION PERFECTION - this is what a real NFL offense should look like - Play action to Shady sucks in Safety 31 - Great protection. Dawkins pancakes 91, Wood, Incognito solid, Mills and Miller seal of right side edge rush - TT throws strike to Matthews on crossing route to area vacated by safety who was biting on play action RICHIE INCOGNITO – Richie was solid for most of the day in pass protect. His one obviously bad play was when he was bull rushed into TTs lap causing a sack ( q4 4:05) ERIC WOOD – Wood was generally very solid against Broncs. He had one play where he was late picking up stunt. This was the play in Q4 where Miller came up the middle on a stunt and hit Taylor (and was called for unsportsmanlike conduct JOHN MILLER – Much better performance today from #76. He had a holding penalty in Q3 .. however.. he was trying to chip in and help out Jordan Mills who was beaten to the inside by Von Miller on a spin move. In other words.. if Mills can hold his own there then Miller would not have needed to hold to help him. JORDAN MILLS – Turnstile. Mills was beaten in several ways. Of course it was a tough matchup with Von Miller over him some of the time still.. this is embarrasing Lunging too far forward .. losing his balance and giving up the outside And .. falling on his face as Miller beats him on Outside to Inside move O LINE PASS BLOCK GRADES DION DAWKINS – B RICHIE INCOGNITO – B ERIC WOOD - B JOHN MILLER – B JORDAN MILLS – D – TIGHT ENDS STRUGGLE IN PASS PROTECT – Given.. a TE left alone with a DE or Edge Rusher is typically a mismatch and some of this is on Dennison for putting the TE’s in these situations. However.. you would at least like to see the TE put up some kind of resistance. Both Clay and O’Leary were very shaky in pass protect this game and they gave up several pressures. They may be decent run game blockers but the more I watch both TE’s are below avg pass blockers. Q4 10:44 – O’Leary is beaten to the outside.. gives up pressure.. forcing TT to check down Another O’Leary poor effort ( he's lined up next to LT) TYROD UNFORCED ERRORS – I watched.. and re-watched to make sure I wasn’t missing anything and yes.. TT had 1 unforced error by my count in the Denver game. His footwork was solid (several examples of him hitting 5 step drop, climbing the pocket and letting it go on time) and he generally chose to throw to the open deeper guy over checking down (O’Leary sideline catch for example). Last week TT had 7 unforced errors – several of which were related to not pulling the trigger on intermediate and deep routes that were there. He didn’t really leave anything on the table against the Broncos. The slant throws to Zay Jones that were both dropped were good throws.. they had zip on them .. but a starting NFL receiver needs to pull those down. His one unforced error was q3 4:10 where he sensed phantom pressure, tucked his head down and threw well behind an open Kaelin Clay in the middle of the field. TT GOOD FOOTWORK, TAKES HIT, GOOD THROW TO KAELIN CLAY - Q2 14:07 - There are many, many things happening here - Charles Clay (bottom left) gives a poor effort and 48 beats him to the outside.. hitting TT as he throws - Play action sucks LB 54 in.. creating a seam for Kaelin Clay to get open in the deep right seam - TT hits 5 step drop, climbs pocket, delivers throw on time and takes a hit GAME SUMMARY This is one of those games where the O Line was shaky. However, via scheme (play action, bootlegs) and by the QB getting the ball out on time and sticking in the pocket.. the Bills offense was still able to move the ball through the air despite Von Miller AND #48 Shaq Barret giving the Bills’ tackles and Tight Ends trouble most of the day. Denver did not really do much stunting or blitzing.. .relying more on their speedy ends to beat the Bills tackles or TE’s 1 on 1. Von Miller also did an excellent job keeping contain on the naked bootlegs. It was up to TT to account for him and beat him on these plays. Sometimes Von won.. sometimes TT won. On one such play (q2 6:54) – Miller did a great job staying home on the backside, getting in TT’s face and forcing an incompletion. However.. the O’Leary sideline catch was an example where Tyrod rolled out.. had Miller in his face.. but was able to throw around him for a huge 1st down to O’Leary. These naked bootlegs really come down to the QB being able to maneuver his way around whoever is shadowing him.. and Taylor is athletic enough to have a chance to win his share of these situations. I don’t know if TT can sustain this momentum or not. There were a few glimpses last year where he had games like this.. and it looked like the light bulb was coming on but he would go on to regress the next few weeks. At any rate, as long as the defense is queuing on Shady and biting on play action TT should continue to have open windows to receivers manufactured for him to throw into.. and if he identifies them and pulls the trigger like he did last week going forward this offense could be relatively effective enough to make this a competitive team this year. The jury is still out on TT being a traditional pocket passer who can throw into tight windows.. but if this play action thing continues to work he has a chance to make some plays. I am also very ..very encouraged by Dion Dawkins. Hopefully Glenn gets healthy again and Dawkins can move over to the right side to replace Mills. Or... god forbid.. Glenn gets flipped over to RT and Dawkins stays at LT? At any rate.. the sooner Mills sees the bench the better... however that happens. __ _____ SIGNIFICANT PLAYS Q1 – 12:19 – SACK – Dawkins bull rushed and beaten to the inside by Von Miller Q1 – 6:22 – SACK – TT rolls out, good coverage ..coverage sack Q2 15:00 - - Play action to Shady sucks in Safety 31 - Great protection. Dawkins pancakes 91, Wood, Incognito solid, Mills and Miller seal of right side edge rush - TT throws strike to Matthews on crossing route to area vacated by safety who was biting on play action Q2 14:37 – TT rolls right on bootleg, ..Von Miller does good job of staying home on backside, TT avoids sack but no throw - Q2 14:07 – Charles Clay (bottom left) gives a poor effort and 48 beats him to the outside.. hitting TT as he throws - Play action sucks LB 54 in.. creating a seam for Kaelin Clay to get open in the deep right seam - TT hits 5 step drop, climbs pocket, delivers throw on time and takes a hit Q2 6:54 – Von Miller stays home on backside of bootleg again… blows up the play and TT throws incompletion. Q2 4:46 – Mills beaten by Miller – forces TT to scramble Q2 3:40 - Zay Jones drops a well thrown slant Q2 :19 – Dion Dawkins does excellent job anchoring and blocking Shaq Barrett allowing for TT completion Q3 15:00 - SACK – O’Leary poor effort leads to sack Q3 13:57 –HOLDING – Mills gets beaten by spin move to inside, Miller tries to help out but is called for holding Q3 7:40 – O’LEARY AMAZING CATCH - TT has Von Miller in his face on a rollout and is able to throw around him .. on the run.. across his body for an incredible completion to O’Leary Q3 – 6:54- Mills beaten again by outside speed rush.. TT still makes a nice throw to Matthews as he takes a hit. Q3 4:10 - UNFORCED ERROR – TT sees phantom pressure, tucks his head down and when he pops back up .. makes off target throw in direction of open Kaelin Clay Q4 : 7:43- Wood is late picking up Von Miller on a stunt.. Miller hits TT and causes incompletion ( and then flagged for Unsportsmanlike Penalty)
  19. good idea on the trap.. punch em in the mouth with an o lineman when they stick that head in the gap
  20. I'm worried too.. I doubt we can win this one. That being said.. I would like to see the offense at least have a decent showing .. something they can build on to get some momentum for the rest of the season Dennison showing that he's flexible and that he is willing to adjust on the fly.
  21. good call on all fronts Have two legit RBs on the field. And run both inside and outside runs. line up under center.. fake to Tolbert and pitch outside to Shady or vice versaAnother is the Zone Read TT is built for this. Why put a round peg in a square hole. Not saying they need to go zone read all the time but Dennison needs to strategically use it early and often. Another is swing and screens yep
  22. Zone Read seems pretty obvious to me we already Zone Block we have arguably the fastest QB in the league .. who has experience running these plays If the end crashes down inside, then you pull it and pick up what you can out in the wide open space between where the end used to be, and the corner or safety. If you're an athletic quarterback, that's a lot of green to swim in and make people miss. if the end doesn't crash inside then hand of to Shady or Tolbert up the gut All it will take is for Taylor to make the right read and burn them once and I'll bet they'd move to a more conventional scheme.
  23. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-week-2-surprise-takeaway-the-broncos-run-defense This was a great article from Pro Football Focus breaking down the unconventional way Denver attacked the Dallas run game. Convention tells you that the defensive guys on the outside need to "set the edge" and funnel everything inside. This writeup shows that the Broncos pretty much abandoned setting the edge and rather had their outside guys immediately shoot the gap to disrupt the RB in the backfield. They also stacked the box a lot as they felt their corners could handled Dallas' deep game. I would expect much of the same against the Bills this Sunday. The question is .. How do we counter this? I have some ideas.. but I'd like to hear other's first. What do you all think.. how do we counter this kind of Run D strategy?
