  1. Went with "With First Pick" board as it was updated 3/26. Only quirk I see on that board is Darron Lee is ranked #70 overall .. other than that the rankings seemed updated and reasonable. This mock is what I think the Bills would be likely to do.. not necessarily what I myself would do. (I myself would rank O Line higher priority and D Line lower priority but I don't think the Bills will see things that way) 19: R1P19 - ILB-REGGIE RAGLAND - ALABAMA - Pre-Draft visit, Preston Brown has struggled as QB of Defense and Ragland seems to be a respected tough leader who would take over that role. ( I would not be unhappy if this was the pick.. however.. if I had to choose between Ragland and Leonard Floyd I'd probably go with Floyd due to Floyd's speed and positional versatility. However.. as stated earlier this is what I "think" the Bills will do) 49: R2P18 - DT VERNON BUTLER - LOUISIANA TECH - Another Pre Draft visit, I think Rex will fall in love with his raw athletic ability and overlook lack of technique. Adding another versatile big man to the rotation should help free up Dareus and Meatball to go hunting. (Personally I think there will be many good versatile DTs available in later rounds and spending a pick on a DT in the first 2 rounds is a mistake ... unless Buckner falls to us of course) 80: R3P17 - S DARIAN THOMPSON - BOISE STATE - Corey Graham is getting older, Rambo is most likely not coming back, Duke Williams was a disaster...this is a position of need.. especially with al lthe responsibilities the FS has in this defense. Thompson appears to have the smarts, size and athleticism to fit Rex's scheme. You can bet that Rex will want to get Ed Reed a project to work with and Thompson could be that guy (I think this is good value in RD 3 and would not have a problem if this was the pick here) 118: R4P19 - DT WILLIE HENRY - MICHIGAN - Another versatile big strong D Lineman who can play NT or on the outside as 3-4 DE. Even though they've already drafted Butler in this mock..Henry is too good of a value to pass up here. (RD 4 is where I would start looking at DTs if it was up to me.. guys like Willie Henry, DJ Reader should be still available around this stage) 140: R4P41- C NICK MARTIN - NOTRE DAME - Probably not going to start but he has a good chance to fill the Kraig Urbik swing C, G role. 157: R5P17 - K ROBERTO AGUAYO - FLORIDA STATE - The Bills are up against the cap and can't really afford a FA kicker. This hopefully allows them to cut Carpenter and Gay freeing up a roster spot 193: R6P17 - WR TAJAE SHARPE - MASSACHUSETTS - Rob Quinn at Building The Herd has a nice profile on this guy - http://buildingtheherd.com/scout-team/nfl-draft/scouting-umass-wr-tajae-sharpe-potential-buffalo-bills-2016-nfl-draft-target/ . 219: R6P43 - QB KEVIN HOGAN - STANFORD - position of need, went to his pro day, knowledge of Roman offense, hopefully could develop into decent backup
  2. I will have to look into Martin a little more... with Urbik gone we really do need a good backup center...
  3. I used the new "Composite Board" in which there weren't any weird quirks (ie.. Wentz dropping to 19) I made a few trades but I won't go into details on all of them 19: R1P19 - OLB LEONARD FLOYD - GEORGIA - I have been gravitating more an more towards Floyd lately. He seems like the most versatile LB available who can play inside and is big enough to play Edge in 3-4 39: R2P8 - WR JOSH DOCTSON - TCU - I traded up here to get Doctson. I have him ranked as my #1 WR so I doubt he'll fall to RD2 but if he does and we don't draft him in RD 1 I would love to see us trade up to snatch him up 84: R3P21 - OLB JORDAN JENKINS - GEORGIA - Jenkins is similar size to Floyd but from what I read he isn't quite as athletic. However.. I did read that he is great at setting the edge so I think he'd be the perfect understudy to Manny Lawson 118: R4P19 - DT WILLIE HENRY - MICHIGAN - From what I've read this guy would normally be a 1st or 2nd round DT in most drafts but he gets lost in the shuffle. I've also read that he can either play NT or DE equally well so 140: R4P41 - OT SPENCER DRANGO - BAYLOR - Probably not starting material.. could fill the Kraig Urbik swing backup guard role... also has experience at OT 157: R5P17 - DT D.J. READER - CLEMSON - Similar to Willie Henry.. I think most years in the past Reader would be Day 1 or Day 2 but not this year. Seems like he is limited to playing a NT role due to his massive size.. but that is exactly what this D needs. Imagine him at NT plugging up the middle.. with Dareus and Meatball on the edge set free to raid the backfield. Then you have Bryant and Willie Henry to rotate in and out. 177: R6P1 - QB KEVIN HOGAN - STANFORD - With all the talk and hype and us visiting his pro day I would think that where there is smoke there is fire in this case. Why would we be fake posturing for a guy who is consistently ranked in the lower tier of QBs by most analysts? 219: R6P43 - OLB ERIC STRIKER - OKLAHOMA - special teams contributor.. best case scenario can fill in Nigel Bradham role
  4. I don't think I'd take either in the 1st round. if we had Schwartz's scheme still I would definitely consider both but in Rex' D I don't see a good fit for either. Of the 2 Rankins has the size to play 3-4 DE.. but I think it would be a waste of his talent.. he's better off in a 4-3. I don't think Lawson is a good fit for a 3-4. He is a little too big to be dropping back in coverage and handling all the responsibilities of 3-4 OLB/EDGE and too small to be a stout 3-4 DE.
  5. Yeah... for some reason in a lot of Mocks I've seen Correa is going in 3rd or 4th round... I'll bet that changes as we get closer to the real day Reader is a perfect fit for our scheme. No reason to draft a DT or DE in first few rounds... lotta good choices in later rounds.
  6. I know it's not Friday.. but .. here it is. Keep in mind I have the premium version and I accepted a few trades to move back and accumulate more picks ( in each case I still got the guy I was targeting in that round). I also traded one of those extra picks to trade up to get D.J. Reader in Rd 5. I used Fanspeak's updated 3/8 board which seemed to be very reasonable. 19: R1P19 - ILB REGGIE RAGLAND - ALABAMA - ( I struggled with this pick, my heart tells me to go with one of the good OT's left Conklin or Decker if either of them are available.. but Rex really needs a stud MLB to run the show ( Preston Brown struggled last year). Ragland appears to stand apart from all the other ILB candidates.. and apparently he's lost some weight and showed in Senior Bowl that he can move around to other LB positions. Accordingly .. due to his potential versatility and the glaring need at LB I went with Ragland. ) 49: R2P18 -WR BRAXTON MILLER - OHIO STATE - ( At this point there were a few good edge guys available like Fackrell and Cravens.. however.. based on what the Bills did last year in getting Percy Harvin.. and based on the fact they have close to zero dollars to spend in FA on a WR.. I went with Miller here.. who ideally can be a jack of all trades ( hitches, screens, reverses, deep ball) like Harvin was last year for the first few games) 88: R3P25 - CB XAVIEN HOWARD - BAYLOR - ( Another tough pick.. Dak Prescott was available here.. but Whaley has consistently said that anyone drafted in the first 3 rounds should be a starter or at least get on the field in his rookie year. Due to losing McKelvin and Brooks to FA.. I think Howard will fill a big depth need at CB and from what I read he is a good physical press corner which Rex looks for) 118: R4P19 - G CHRISTIAN WESTERMAN - ARIZONA STATE - ( nothing exciting here... with Urbik leaving in FA we need a swing backup guard. Hopefully Westerman can develop into that guy. From what I've read he is somewhat physically limited but is very smart and has good FBI) 126: R4P27 - OLB KAMALEI CORREA - BOISE STATE - ( Big LB who could potentially play on the edge. From what I've read he has been very solid and seems to be underrated and overlooked. Seems to me like a good value for RD 4) 145: R5P6 - DT D.J. READER - CLEMSON - ( I think this will be a steal if he falls this far. He is a mammoth run stuffing NT which is exactly what Rex needs in the middle. I think you could plug him in right away to clog up the middle, take on double teams to free up the LBs and put Dareus and KW on the edges to wreak havoc. Think Tony Siragusa back in the Ravens hey day
  7. 19: R1P19 - OLB DARRON LEE - ( need linebacker help..will probably be better fit as ILB in Rex system ..best available versatile all around LB) - OHIO STATE 49: R2P18 WR BRAXTON MILLER - (most likely candidate to play Percy Harvin swiss army knife role) OHIO STATE 80: R3P17 G SEBASTIAN TRETOLA - ( probably needs a little work in pass protect but should be a good mauler in power run game. I would have loved to have drafted a Tackle somewhere in first 3 rounds but after Conklin there is really no one I think that is better than Kouandjio) ARKANSAS 118: R4P19 OLB YANNICK NGAKOUE - (raw but seems to be a great athlete, development project but hopefully can develop into solid Joker 3/4 OLB) MARYLAND 156: R5P17 DT D.J. READER - (http://buildingtheherd.com/ turned me on to this guy. 6'3" - 340 lbs...seems like he would be a great one technique NT allowing Kyle and Marcell to kick outside and cause havoc. Also hopefully eats up blocks to let LBs run free a la Siragusa) CLEMSON 195: R6P17 QB KEVIN HOGAN - (being a Stanford QB he would most likely be familiar with Roman's system. Has decent size ... worth taking a flyer on) STANFORD
  8. +1 I remember when Carucci reported that there was a strong possibility that Cordy Glenn would be moved to guard, Henderson would move to LT and Kouandjio would be at RT.. just because Glenn took a few snaps at guard during training camp or OTAs. That was absurd... I think Vic is spread a little too thin these days ( he does a lot of work on Sirius NFL channel.. ( poorly I may add)) and I think most of his "inside source" stories have been off base. Sully has always been knee jerk so I don't really read any of his stuff. I think Carucci used to have a good reputation but he pretty much sunk it this year being back at BN. I know Tim Graham is hated by many for his Twitter banter.. but at least he is a good writer and for the most part his "inside source" stories tend to hold weight and he did a great job with inside reporting on the sale of the team and also with the Darryl Talley story. I doubt he'll go back to the beat job though as he probably likes what he's doing now writing longer pieces.
  9. Agree with keeping Kyle and Manny. Run D has suffered with Kyle out, Manny has been a great role player.. relatively inexpensive. I am fine with getting rid of Mario and Bradham and drafting linebackers that are a better/cheaper fit for Rex' system.
  10. Great job by Mills considering circumstances. Urbik is a serviceable vet backup at this stage but I have no expectation for development out of him
  11. Yeah..not a fair fight..Clowney did some damage Sunday
  12. I don't get it either. I agree with your assessment about him being lazy... it's frustrating because he has shown good athleticism and strength at times.
  13. I didn't see.. but Mulligan has been getting destroyed.. whiffing.. holding guys all year. Not surprised to see him get cut.
  14. Unforced errors.. bad throws/ How did the O Line do?/ What mistakes are on the O-Line.. what ones are not? I watched the NFL rewind all 22 and here is my unofficial count of how the O-Line did / How the QB did on every pass play ( I may have missed a snap or two here.. there also may be a few extra pass attempts that were cancelled due to penalites..but this should be 95% accurate) DISCLAIMER ( I am not a coach, I don't know the hot reads or route combinations called.. this is just my educated perception of what happened on each pass play) I also apologize for not posting this analysis for the Patriots game Thanksgiving week.. I was traveling.. _______ ______________________ TOTAL PASS PLAYS: 25 snaps – ( last week’s loss was 41 snaps … again.. Buffalo keeps passing attempts under 30 and wins the game. I think we have enough sample size to determine that this is the winning offensive formula) LINE BREAKDOWNS: 7/25 snaps ( 28% ) - Worse than last week’s 6/41 snaps ( 15%). While the line held Watt in check for most of the day.. contrary to popular opinion Clowney, Cushing and others did actually get through to TT several times. SUFFICIENT PROTECTION: 18/25 snaps UNFORCED QB ERRORS: - 5/25 snaps – 20% ( same percentage as last week 8/41 snaps ( 20%) .. however.. 2 of the unforced errors this week were almost pick sixes) Bottom Line: PASS PROTECT UP AND DOWN – The o line gave TT time for the most part today.. evidenced by the amount of deep balls thrown and limited sacks. TT escaped a few unblocked guys and bailed the line out a few times. However..there were some rough patches .. and while TT was only sacked twice.. a QB with less agility would have gone down a few more times. URBIK TOUGH TIME PICKING UP BLITZ – Urbik generally held his own against Watt and the D Linemen.. however.. he missed a couple of LB blitz pickups causing pressure on TT up the middle and forcing him to scramble several times. Even with these mistakes.. he is still playing at a much higher level than he did any time last year. MILLS STEPS UP BIG – Other than one holding call late in the game, Jordan Mills did an excellent job in pass protect. From my seat in section 108 I focused on him most of the game and came away very happy with what I saw from him most of the day. This was only confirmed in watching the all 22. I don’t know how he did in run blocking.. however.. judging by the results it couldn’t have been that bad. Assuming he is an adequate run blocker he should definitely be starting next week at RT and Henderson should be sitting even if he is healthy. MULLIGAN’S LAST STRAW - TE Matthew Mulligan has consistently looked awful in pass protect in each game he’s played.. and last Sunday was apparently the last straw as he was released earlier this week. His main contribution was a holding call in q3. Why have a one dimensional TE like Mulligan?? Wouldn’t it make sense for Roman to just put in another LT in obvious running situations? We’ll see how O’Leary does going forward here. TYROD JEKYLL / TRYOD HYDE - TT made very few throws in the first half.. and the ones he made in the 1st half were generally solid. TT made a higher number of throws in the second half with much more mixed results. TT would miss a back shoulder throw.. and then come right back and hit the next one. Of his 5 unforced errors.. 2 were situations where Tyrod (Mr,Hyde) bailed from a clean pocket too early resulting in missed chances and incompletions. But then at other times Tyrod Jekyll shows up and does a fantastic job of stepping up in the pocket to avoid pressure.. buying time.. finding space to maneuver and making great throws. The bomb to Sammy in Q3 was a thing of beauty. Eric Wood gets beaten by a stunt and TT has pressure right in his face.. he calmly slides steps left.. takes a few steps forward into the pocket towards the LOS ( earlier in the year he may have bailed instead of stepping up) and delivers a great deep strike to Sammy down the right sideline. Next..Tyrod Hyde shows up in Q4 and almost throws 2 pick sixes… and neither of them were due to pressure. The first was a case where he no one was open and he tried to force a ball in where he shouldn’t have. The second near INT was a case of him not looking of the safety and the safety following his eyes. At the end of the day.. TT’s plus escapability and his plus deep ball accuracy are traits that consistently help him overcome his other weaknesses. Hopefully the carelessness with the ball towards the end of the game goes away.. I’ve seen that several times this year and it is not a trend I want to continue to see. PLAYS OF NOTE Q1-9:41 – TD to Sammy – well placed/ decisive throw Q1-2:02- UNFORCED ERROR - Fake reverse – TT forces throw to Sammy who is double covered.. ball is overthrown. Had open receiver in the flat Q2-10:54- HOLDING on Glenn on screen play Q2-9:51- Urbik doesn’t pick up blitz in time and Cushing beats him .. hits TT forcing incompletion Q2-3:51- Bomb to Sammy – TT steps up into pocket – perfect timing on the throw Q2-2:31- UNFORCED ERROR - TT overthrows back shoulder throw to Clay Q2-:34 – TD to Clay – nice back shoulder throw Q3-13:41- Urbik beaten by #58- forces TT to scramble Q3-9:00- Holding on Mulligan- cancels out deep completion Q3-8:37- UNFORCED ERROR – TT bails from pocket too early and misses an open Woods Q3-2:47- Bomb to Sammy – Wood beaten on a stunt – TT sidesteps left to avoid.. steps up into the pocket and delivers a deep strike to Sammy down the sideline Q4-12:47- TE #89 blown up by Clowney – TT has no chance and is sacked Q4-12:19- Clay has a bad drop on well thrown in route.. alligator arms Q4-7:16- Holding on Mills – beaten to the inside by #59 – TT is also sacked Q4-6:56- UNFORCED ERROR – TT almost throws pick 6. No one open.. tries to force a ball to the sideline receiver.. DB drops pick Q4-3:50- UNFORCED ERROR – TT almost throws another pick 6. Safety reads his eyes and makes a play on the ball.. drops pick Q4- TD TO CLAY – Clay wide open.. perfect throw SUMMARY – Upon further review.. the game plan to neutralize JJ Watt was effective and no catastrophic strip sacks/ints occurred ( like last year’s nightmare game in Houston). However.. it would be incorrect to say that the other Texans defenders who were freed up did not make an impact. Clowney had a sack.. drew a holding penalty and Cushing came through on several blitzes causing some incompletions. At the end of the day we picked the right poison and got away with a win. My biggest takeaway was the solid play of Mills at RT.. let’s hope he stays in the lineup and turns into a late season steal. O Line Pass block grades GLENN B- INCOGNITO - A WOOD –B- URBIK - C MILLS- B
  15. Your input and criticism is well taken and appreciated as it is generally on point and not personal
  16. My basic threshold is that the QB is able to hit his drop and have time to hit his first.. Maybe second read. Your point is well taken. I was still emotional about that call and it carried over to my analysis. Nevertheless.. I wasn't omitting that play to protect Tyrod. Just trying to make a point about that call.
  17. Need to lean on Shady this game.. Maybe a lot of read option right at him if he's playing DE..and TT will need to actually tuck and run a few times.. Keep him guessing
  18. Kujo hasn't been great by any means.. It's just that Henderson has set the bar so low that Kujo looked fairly competent in comparison when he filled in. It seems pretty obvious the coaches see some serious flaws in his game and it seems like they are pulling the plug on him as a development project
  19. Based on what I've seen the 2015 o line is much improved over 2014 line as far as pass protection goes. Glenn is playing slightly better than he did last year. Incognito is light years better than Chris Williams/ Cyril Richardson/ Urbik were in 2014 at LG. Wood has rallied in 2015 and put his ugly 2014 play behind him.At RG John Miller has been a disappointment after playing so well in preseason.. But Urbik has actually filled in admirably for the injured rookie. Henderson wasn't that great in 2014 and has been worse in 2015. Kouandjio did ok filling in but something weird is going on with him as he is apparently 3rd string now. Definitely need a new RT. I have noticed that the line has been doing a much better job of picking up stunts since Kromer has come back. Based on what I've seen Glenn has been consistently solid in pass protection and in my opinion he's a top 15 LT and we would be foolish to not resign him
  20. I think we've seen enough of a sample size to conclude that Henderson is well below average in pass protect and I agree we need to draft his replacement
  21. Appreciate the positivity.. Thank you. As long as there are a handful of people who find my weekly post interesting I will continue to post it.. And going forward I will try and do a better job of not clogging things up by biting on the Troll bait
  22. Are you asking me or Asshat?
  23. I have no agenda. I am a fan who watches the all 22 focusing on o line play and qb play so i can post my informed 'opinions'rather than shooting from the hip as many posters do. My main goal is to figure out how much the o line is affecting qb play.. And qb analysis is secondary. I listed 8 plays that in my opinion were unforced errors on TT. I criticized the 2 plays that were almost ints and made sure to mention his disapointing habit of committing delay of game penalties. I also gave you a specific reason why I didn't mention the last play of the game. Anyone who watched the game can make a judgment on that one play.. I chose not to and gave you my reason why. If you have specific examples of unforced errors that i missed please share them with us. That is the point of this post. I very well may have missed some obvious ones. If your goal is to be the 'smartest guy in the room' and pick minor issues to fully discredit my posts I would venture to say that most of the people who read my weekly post would prefer you to skip over and troll someone else.
  24. Yes.. I don't think they'll pay Bradham so need to replace him and also get rush OLB
