Sounds like you don't like the new way writers create the art, and that would explain why you reacted to my reference to how minorities where written out of history in the old shows--which I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that was when you liked movies? You did like them, now you don't. Right? Have not seen either. Didn't go to the Barbie movie?

So you took my specific example of me saying Matt Dillion killing a thousand people to be "unreal" and applied it to the whole genre? If you are going to copy me, at least do it correctly. So you don't think the "theory"--it's not a theory--that Seinfeld can just be funny but it does not have to be realistic? Huh? Can you expand on that? So what? Art, especially commercial art, is to an extent pandering. You have never watched a movie, tv show or documentary and enjoyed it because it suit your tastes, ideas or beliefs? If you say no, you are lying. Do you complain about how they pandered to your tastes?

It's just common sense, which those blinded by bias lack, that if an enemy just over a border want to kill you, you prepare for it. Especially when they are posting on social media preparations for an attack. Pretty simple -
Sandra Day O'Connor https://www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2023/12/01/sandra-day-oconnor-supreme-court-justice-dead/ Sandra Day O’Connor, the first female U.S. Supreme Court justice, whose independence on a court that was often ideologically divided made her the pivotal vote in numerous closely contested cases and one of the most powerful women of her era, died Dec. 1 in Phoenix. She was 93. The cause was complications from advanced dementia, probably Alzheimer’s disease, and a respiratory illness, according to an announcement by the court. Justice O’Connor had said in October 2018 that she had dementia and was exiting public life. In her nearly quarter-century as a justice, sworn in on Sept. 25, 1981, after being appointed by President Ronald Reagan, to her retirement on Jan. 31, 2006, to care for her husband, who had Alzheimer’s, she tried to avoid what she called “giant steps you’ll live to regret.” She rejected the idea of eliminating the right to abortion, for example, in part because “an entire generation has come of age” relying on it, she wrote. Instead, she co-wrote the principal opinion in Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey (1992), setting a new standard for judging abortion cases but reaffirming the core holding of Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in 1973.

Wow, treating them almost like terrorists https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/11/30/israel-hamas-war-news-gaza-hostages-update-palestine/ U.S. plans visa ban on Israeli settlers involved in West Bank violence Return to menu By Michael Birnbaum DUBAI — The Biden administration has concrete plans to impose visa bans within weeks on Israeli settlers in the West Bank who U.S. authorities believe are connected to extremist violence against Palestinians, Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a Jerusalem meeting, a senior State Department official said Friday. Blinken told Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders that the Biden administration wants them to take stronger action against settler violence, and that the United States will take action of its own, the official said, implementing a warning that President Biden made in a Washington Post op-ed last month. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak frankly about the closed-door talks. “I have been emphatic with Israel’s leaders that extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank must stop and that those committing the violence must be held accountable,” Biden wrote. “The United States is prepared to take our own steps, including issuing visa bans against extremists attacking civilians in the West Bank.” The decision would restrict those Israelis from travel to the United States. Many settlers involved in the violence are also U.S. citizens, and the United States government has no power to restrict their movement, the official said, but Blinken encouraged the Israelis to take court action against everyone involved in lawbreaking, including U.S. citizens, the official said. Settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank has surged in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, according to rights groups, which warn that the settler movement is seeking to further entrench its presence across the occupied territory. -

This is even crazier, Hamas posted on line their preparation for the attack https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-67480680 Prior to 2018, Hamas had formally coordinated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Gaza's second largest armed faction and - like Hamas - a proscribed terrorist organisation in the UK and other countries. Hamas had also fought alongside other groups in previous conflicts, but the 2020 drill was billed in propaganda as evidence a wider array of groups were being unified. Hamas's leader said the first drill reflected the "permanent readiness" of the armed factions. The 2020 exercise was the first of four joint drills held over three years, each of which was documented in polished videos posted on public social media channels. Telling the world The second Strong Pillar drill was held almost exactly one year later. Ayman Nofal, a commander in the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades - the official name for Hamas's armed wing - said the aim of the exercise on 26 December 2021 was to "affirm the unity of the resistance factions". He said the drills would "tell the enemy that the walls and engineering measures on the borders of Gaza will not protect them". Another Hamas statement said the "joint military manoeuvres" were designed to "simulate the liberation of settlements near Gaza" - which is how the group refers to Israeli communities. -

And once they got there? Why was there no force in place to fight? It's unbelievable. The people who were attacked were the victims, not the clowns that failed to protect them. Gonna be some fall out from this. Public hearings, documents uncovered. What a mess! -

So they just ignore that border? It's not like it would of taken a huge force to watch it. Pretty sure the settlers had to call the police when the attack began. The police! The door was left, if not wide open, secured with a weak lock. -

How do you not guard a border that shelters you from an organization who's whole purpose is your destruction? Suspicious, to say the least -
I think you meant to say they are/were "unrealistic." I assure you they are "real," as they exist as artistic expression of the writers, actors and producers. Did Laurel and Hardy or Seinfeld represent "real life"? No, but so what, they are funny. Did the movie "Casablanca" represent a real war time situation? Not at all, but it was good drama with great acting, a good story with plot twists, and when Elsa Young calls Sam the black piano player a "boy" you really see how race relations played out in Hollywood. The movie Midway, one of my favs, was from the 1970's, and while it is telling the basic story of how the battle unfolded, it adds sympathetic section on a Navy fighter pilot who fell in love with a Japanese girl. Compare that to how the Japanese were depicted during the war, and it is interesting to many people.

Then, in July, just three months before the attacks, a veteran analyst with Unit 8200, Israel’s signals intelligence agency, warned that Hamas had conducted an intense, daylong training exercise that appeared similar to what was outlined in the blueprint. But a colonel in the Gaza division brushed off her concerns, according to encrypted emails viewed by The Times. “I utterly refute that the scenario is imaginary,” the analyst wrote in the email exchanges. The Hamas training exercise, she said, fully matched “the content of Jericho Wall.” “It is a plan designed to start a war,” she added. “It’s not just a raid on a village.” Officials privately concede that, had the military taken these warnings seriously and redirected significant reinforcements to the south, where Hamas attacked, Israel could have blunted the attacks or possibly even prevented them. -

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/30/world/middleeast/israel-hamas-attack-intelligence.html Israeli officials obtained Hamas’s battle plan for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack more than a year before it happened, documents, emails and interviews show. But Israeli military and intelligence officials dismissed the plan as aspirational, considering it too difficult for Hamas to carry out. The approximately 40-page document, which the Israeli authorities code-named “Jericho Wall,” outlined, point by point, exactly the kind of devastating invasion that led to the deaths of about 1,200 people. The translated document, which was reviewed by The New York Times, did not set a date for the attack, but described a methodical assault designed to overwhelm the fortifications around the Gaza Strip, take over Israeli cities and storm key military bases, including a division headquarters. Hamas followed the blueprint with shocking precision. The document called for a barrage of rockets at the outset of the attack, drones to knock out the security cameras and automated machine guns along the border, and gunmen to pour into Israel en masse in paragliders, on motorcycles and on foot — all of which happened on Oct. 7. -

Trump and Putin https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/11/30/biden-foreign-disinformation-social-media-election-interference/ The U.S. federal government has stopped warning some social networks about foreign disinformation campaigns on their platforms, reversing a years-long approach to preventing Russia and other actors from interfering in American politics less than a year before the U.S. presidential elections, according to company officials. Tech is not your friend. We are. Sign up for The Tech Friend newsletter. Meta no longer receives notifications of global influence campaigns from the Biden administration, halting a prolonged partnership between the federal government and the world’s largest social media company, senior security officials said Wednesday. Federal agencies have also stopped communicating about political disinformation with Pinterest, according to the company. The developments underscore the far-reaching impact of a conservative legal campaign against initiatives established to avoid a repeat of the 2016 election, when Russia manipulated social media in an attempt to sow chaos and swing the vote for Donald Trump.
