I don't know why people keep thinking EJ will be the savior in this game. He would more than likely be a liability.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Nnamdi Asomugha, Dunta Robinson, Deangelo Hall, Derek Cox, Aqib Talib, Turrance Newman, Eric Wright ... Just to name a few. This was one of the deepest CB fields in Free Agency, ever. We didn't even try.

Many on this forum seem to have this silly mentality. Its OK to have two threads with similar premises. Jeez. It's not one pre-season game. The first and second pre-season game we looked good against teams who admittedly put little emphasis into the game and pulled their starters very early. Then we lose our only good CB. Then our starting CB has a knee issue, our backup QB's career might be up, and we sign Matt Leinart and some other bum. What you saw against the Redskins is what happens when our guys go straight up against their guys. Just shows we need gimmicks to win. That's sad.

Were going to suck this year. I'm sorry if that hurts people's feelings. If it makes you feel any better, I feel sick to my stomach from the thousands of dollars I spent on suite tickets for this season. I'm going to have to get wasted every game and try not to look at the field.

It doesn't take a genius to realize that we needed to sign some free agent DB's. That should have happened.

Why the Whaley didn't sign him regardless of whether Gilmore gets injured or not is beyond me. Our DB's suck.

Call me doom and gloom, but this one is the worst. Do we win more than 1 of those 6 games? Gilmore was the sole responsibility for shutting down half the field. With him gone, QB's are going to go wild.

Leinart sucks. At least Kolb has more TD's than INT.

Lol Leinart is a bad QB too. Worse than Jackson as a matter of fact. LOL love how people are analyzing his game tape. The guy is as good as cut.

This base defense stuff just seems like an excuse for a poor performance. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I'm not going to pretend like I know if the blitz packages were more or less exotic today. I didn't see a ton of difference.

Jerry Hughes looked absolutely lost at times today. Lost contain multiple times.

Pettine is going to see what it's like to blitz often without half of the field being shut down by Revis. Whole different ball game. I hope I'm wrong.

The problem was that they WERE blitzing. They blitzed multiple times. They just couldn't get any penetration. And you saw what happened when you blitz and don't get to the QB. You get burned. A lot of talk in the game day thread was about the CB's getting burned, but it's difficult for any CB to cover when you have 6 guys rushing the QB.

Flame me all you want but the truth is this defense looks terrible. Absolutely terrible. Over pursuing LBs, defensive line getting holes blasted through it, CB's having issues staying even near WR's, horrible angles, trouble tackling, the list is long. Ugh.

People hate realism. The team looks like crap today. And the vaunted defense we've been anticipating looks like garbage.
