  1. Considering the potential these gas prices have to cripple the US economy, I'd say that it certainly has the potential to affect everyone in this country. Myself, I live 500 miles north of New Orleans. We're already seeing a large influx of those left homeless filling local hotels.
  2. $2.49 yesterday morning. It was $2.69 by about noon today. I expect that it'll be $3.00/gallon by the weekend. Price gouging bast***s.
  3. Mike Williams leg was surgically reattached in the lockerroom with tape and staples, but otherwise, no, apparently no injuries.
  4. Carrying a clipboard? Given the way he's played through his career so far, he probably needs to start practicing bagging groceries. Its a skill he's going to need soon if he doesn't start playing better real quick.
  5. Three years? Its been a weak spot for about twelve years now.
  6. The only stats that matter? 76 wins from 1990 to 1996, with Jim Kelly as the starter for the vast majority. 61 wins after 1997, split among Bledsoe, Flutie, Johnson, Van Pelt and Hobert. No comparison.
  7. No, no, no. You can take any fat guy off the street and turn him into a quality NFL offensive lineman. You just need a good offensive line coach. No, really, its that easy.
  8. No problem at all. These backups will all play like Tony Boselli with good coaching. That's what I heard this offseason, anyway.
  9. Why more attention to Reed's drop? Haddad's fumble can be written off as a one-time mistake. Reed, on the other hand, has made a habit of developing butterfingers at the most inopportune of times. His job is to catch passes and through three years he's proven that he can't do that on a consistent basis.
  10. I think the reason Losman is throwing only short passes is because the Bills want to maximize the number of snaps Losman gets this preseason and use it as extended practice time. If Losman throws a deep ball and gets it intercepted, its a wasted series and a loss of potential practice time. Even if he completes it, it shortens the series and again, reduces their chances to practice against an actual opponent.
  11. Sad but true.
  12. That's what you get when you draft a guy based on his athletic ability and ignore the fact that he was a 45% passer in college who threw more INTs than TDs. http://calbears.collegesports.com/sports/m...ler_kyle00.html And this guy was a 1st round prospect??? I wouldn't have considered him a draftable player with those hideous numbers.
  13. I don't think 7/14 is anything to worry about, even if there were no drops. Its a small sampling of passes. Over a full season, every QB in the league will have a 7/14 stretch at some point, probably even worse.
  14. Gandy is the starting LT, but he wasn't playing on that last scoring drive.
  15. I'd like to know as well. I find it very interesting that the Bills want to see Peters in there protecting the franchise QB. Perhaps Peters is progressing even faster than we'd hoped?
  16. If the Bills thought Freeney would've developed into what he is today, they should've picked him, regardless of the presence of Schobel. Freeney is a much better player. If that would have meant sending Schobel to the bench or trading him, so be it. That said, its all a matter of hindsight and I doubt the Bills viewed Freeney as a can't miss prospect. At least, I hope not. Our RT at the time actually was Jonas Jennings, who played RT as a rookie in 2001. Sullivan played RG.
  17. Passing on a pick is suicidal for a GM.
  18. It doesn't look bad. The Bills needed a major OL upgrade and Mike Williams has been a solid starter, if overpaid. That is indeed the price you pay for having a top 5 draft pick. Just looking at the first round from 2002, who would you have rather had? Dwight Freeney, as mentioned above, clearly would've been a better choice. That draft really wasn't overly impressive, in hindsight, and kind of underscores why having a top five draft pick sucks in this day and age. Unless the guy comes in immediately and plays like an All Pro, his salary is so high that if he needs time to develop, he's going to be viewed as a bust, at least by some.
  19. If the Bills use the franchise tag on Nate Clements and another team signs him, the Bills are entitled to two first round draft picks, not a first and a third.
  20. I think Denney will probably make the final 53 man roster. He's proven that he can be a decent 3rd DE. You expect more of a 2nd round pick, but at the end of the day, he is a reasonably productive reserve and will probably play out his contract (and I think he's a FA after this year). Reed is all but gone. Moulds, Evans and Parrish are locks as we all know. Sam Aiken will also make this final roster as he is the primary backup to Moulds. I also believe that he has outplayed Reed to this point this preseason. That leaves one remaining spot, and I think George Wilson will probably win it. He's a willing ST player and at the very least, he can actually catch the ball as a WR.
  21. I guess they believe that the additional work will prove beneficial down the road. They're right, but after a good half in which he recovered from a poor start, I'd probably let Losman call it a night.
  22. No injuries that I'm aware of. As I stated in the chat room, I think we're going to see a lot of this type of play from JP this year. He's not going to be consistent at all from series to series, though as we saw tonight, that can be a good thing.
  23. That sounds about right. My only question is why Wade didn't pull the plug on Flutie before he did. In hindsight, the ultimate irony for the Flutie fans is that had Wade benched him a month earlier as he should have, Flutie would have likely started the Titans playoff game after RJ inevitably got injured in the final month of the regular season.
  24. I'm only able to see the few plays NFL Network shows, but from the chat room reports, it seemed to have been a combination of drops and poor throws. However, he did play very well on the last two drives, going to 8/9 to finish 10/17 overall for 85 yards and 1 TD pass.
  25. So you're saying that they're in midseason form?
