  1. There was an Interesting discussion on the JM show last night with guest host Sal C re the possible significance of the number 14 for Sammy ( or just fun coincidences):

    14

    Drafted in 2014

    Drafted round 1, 4th pick

We traded a 1 and a 4 for him (or two 1s depending on how you look at it)

14 years out of playoffs will end this year

    Sammy previously wore 2 and 7 in his career: 2 x 7 = 14

Are there others? I did not listen to the whole show.

Sorry if this already has been posted.

Those are things I pointed out the second he picked his number. Also: born June 14th.

  3. With the exception of Jameis Winston, there is no QB in next years draft that has better measurables than EJ Manuel.

    Marcus Mariota...

ESPN has totally morphed into brand platform and has lost any credibility as a legitimate source of sports analysis. If they don't cover it they dont talk about it (hockey). If they do they try to create stories instead of reporting them. Their nba coverage is nauseating simply because they seem to think the interest level is on par with the nfl. It isn't. The fact that the Texans are ahead of us, finished 2-14 last year because their qb sucked, drafted a de in round one and somehow scares other teams in the league is laughable. Unless Clowney can run the read option they are in trouble, but the houston market is huge and they don't want to insult anyone.

Only because they aren't bowing down to the Bills who haven't made the playoffs this decade...

I hate ESPN, but I'm sick of seeing people flip out and rant when some media doesn't believe the Bills will be amazing.

  4. Picked the ugliest possible WR number. Absolutely hate it. Justin Blackmon also went with that ugly thing.

It'll be easy to switch over old Fitz jerseys, I guess. I don't have one, though.

I was going to mention how much it made sense for him to go with 14, though. Born on the 14th day of the month, the 4th pick in the 1st round in 2014... Wore 7 and 2 previously (7x2=14)

  5.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't CJ's contract expire after this season? If that is the case, the Bills would have to trade him before this season (2014), or at least before the trade dealine in October (?...or whenever it is). If he plays out this season, without a trade, or signing an extension (remember he says he is going to "get with Jairus Byrds' agent), he is as good as gone...unless the Bills franchise him. Not sure they are going to want to get into that situation again.

    Franchise.

here's a list of Bills contracts and cap hits

    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/2014/

unless they split up stevies cap hit, the bills are carrying over $22 mil in DEAD MONEY this year for players NOT on the roster, that's HORRIBLE.

That's what happens when a new regime wants to get guys in there that they want. It's not that bad when you consider that.

Why would you cut Mario? No logic there. He had 13 sacks last year.

Mike Williams was just traded for, he's not going anywhere

Looks like you are just throwing names up because those 5 players are all key starters and not going anywhere

Mario's contract always makes him a possible cut. I know we wish it was as simple as production, but it's not. Every big contract has points in it that could be easy cut areas, and Mario has that pretty much every offseason from now on.

Didn't say it was likely, but all of those guys have a chance at being moved next offseason.

  6. If he's healthy, Moeaki.

Scott Chandler and Tony Moeaki have a very similar career when considering their first two years of relevance in the league:

-Both drafted out of Iowa (Chandler with pick 129, Moeaki with pick 93)

-Moeaki: 1009 yards in first two years of relevance. Chandler: 960 yards. Difference of 49 yards.

-Moeaki: 80 receptions. Chandler: 81 receptions. One catch difference.

The only difference is TDs. Chandler had 16 while Moeaki had just four.

Maybe Moeaki could be a guy who they use all over the field and Chandler a guy they use in the red zone. Could be a good tandem. Question is does this mean that they give up on Gragg? They won't keep three TEs around, and Lee Smith seems to be a favorite as a blocker.

  7. Mike Williams has no chance of getting cut since we cut Stevie

I was expanding it to next offseason, as well, since there isn't that high of a chance that any of those names are gone this season.

If CJ has a huge year then it could be possible that the team tries to get back into the 2015 first round using him...

  8. I think Pears is a lock, but I wouldn't say he's a big name. He was very solid for a year or two.

The next actual big name that will be off this team?

I would say the big names on this team (at least at a local level) that would have some chance of leaving are:

    CJ Spiller

    Mario Williams

    Fred Jackson

    Mike Williams

    Marcell Dareus

Some of those guys could easily walk in free agency so it wouldn't be a cut or trade. CJ is the most likely common answer.

  9. I voted for Bryce Brown and Keith Rivers. Bryce Brown won't be it this year unless there is an injury, but there's a very good chance at least one of Jackson/Spiller are gone after this year and he'll get a big chance.

Keith Rivers will benefit from not having much pressure. Kiko and Spikes will take most of the pressure and plays away from him which should allow him to excel.

  10. The list:

100: Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions

99: Cameron Jordan, DE/OLB, New Orleans Saints

98: Jason Witten, TE, Dallas Cowboys

97: Louis Vazquez, OG, Denver Broncos

96: Daryl Washington, LB, Arizona Cardinals

95: Brent Grimes, CB, Miami Dolphins

94: Sheldon Richardson, DE, New York Jets

93: Ryan Kalil, C, Carolina Panthers

92: Eric Weddle, S, San Diego Chargers

91: Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears

90: Eddie Lacy, RB, Green Bay Packers

89: Charles Clay, TE, Miami Dolphins

88: Evan Mathis, OG, Philadelphia Eagles

87: DeMarco Murray, RB, Dallas Cowboys

86: Duane Brown, OT, Houston Texas

85: Reggie Bush, RB, Detroit Lions

84: Kiko Alonso, LB, Buffalo Bills

83: Jordy Nelson, WR, Green Bay Packers

82: TJ Ward, S, Denver Broncos (last season with Browns)

81: Colin Kaepernick, QB, San Francisco 49ers

Figured we could have a thread to talk about this list. The NFL just teased a picture saying that two rookies will make this week's list (81-90). It will be two of Kiko Alonso, Eddie Lacy, Keenan Allen and Tyrann Mathieu. I assume Kiko will definitely be one of the two. Eddie Lacy will likely be the other.
