Yes, the ST coach was an obscure hire to say the least. Now, every HC deserves to pick his staff. But, somebody should blow in Marrone's ear and tell him about Wade, ronnie and Ralph...and how that situation could cost him his job. (ask Wade)

Hogan does not look like he belongs out there. TJ Graham did make a couple of catches today, and is willing to stick his head in there after the catch. But, he dropped a real good ball....tv guy really badmouthed him on that one (rightfully so) Missed Stevie....Chandler underutilized...but got a couple of big ones today. Easley looks better than Hogan.....must be a head problem, cause he is better than Hogan physically.

Neither Thad, despite his day today. or EJ, despirte his nominal start in 5 games, has convinced me they are NFL starters. I will say this, Thad's throw to Goodwin for the tying TD was the first major league long ball I have seen from the Bills this year.

Ummmmm...NO. Haven't seen Woods take it over the middle and take the big hit or get that extra couple of yards. Stevie is a problem for opposing defenses.....his problems this year, other than physical......are that Hackett wants him to run cookie cutter routes....so his runny nose young QB's don't have to think to much. With Fitz, Stevie used to have freedom to take it whereever it would disadvantage the DB....and get really open. Fitz could read and react.....but our QB crew now can't do that....they need formula routes so they know in advance where he will be. So, a conflict between Hackett's style and Stevie's best effectiveness style will mean one will leave at some point. I am voting for Hackett to leave, as Stevie is a legit talent, and we can't say that about Hackett.

When I saw Lewis in the preseason, his arm did not impress me. Of course, Manuel's arm has not yet impressed me either. Maybe not a keeper among those two.

Yes. While EJ may be the "high character guy", Geno is a much more natural passer. More instinctive and accurate. While time will certainly tell the story, I think that in the end, Smith will prove that he should have been the guy. And the beat goes on...

Yep, time will tell. I agree, his ball is more naturally thrown. EJ has a nice tight spiral, but the throwing action is somewhat artificial....its actually what they teach, though, at the QB camps....oh well.

He was a great prospect with bad hips. He may yet heal after his surgery, but it was to much for this year...he was a walking cripple really. I hope he is OK for normal life .

This management group does not look functional. The Byrd mess....should have traded him earlier. the Qb mess, absolutely no foresight. Whaley and Marrone do not seem to have the stones for the job. Only one looking competant is Pettine. And, of course, Brandon is also implicated here. I think Littman is the carrier of the bad decision impetitus, however. Brandon will never be in charge until LIttman is gone and replaced by Brandon's own man.

 

Of course, Byrd wanted to make a miracle recovery to play on national TV on Thursday night......selling himself to the other NFL personnel that were watching. Glad Marrone sat him. Personally, I would have activated him, and used him as a gunner on the punt team. Lets see if he can run and hit. But, with all of two days of full speed work, I also was not convinced he was ready to play a new defensive scheme.

How about this defense with Jabaree Greer and Drayton Florence? And they almost lost Fred Jackson because they didn't want to pay him either. Everytime we've had a playmaker and his contract is up, there are a dozen reasons why it doesn't "make sense" to pay. It only doesn't make sense if you don't care about fielding a competitive team! The only way that business model (not resigning star players) works (see Tampa Rays or Oakland As in baseball) is if you can draft impact replacements which hasn't happened here for a while. Hopefully things will change.

 

If they are not considering Josh Freeman to avoid a qb controversy the season is lost, and I mean four wins max.

me too man. the only concern I really have (beyond EJ's health) is Hackett. He's still a question mark for me. I don't know how much of this playcalling is held back b/c of a rookie QB or if this is how it'll be going forward.

I agree about Hackett, but I also question the special teams coach....wondered at the time he was hired. One of Marrone's gumba's, I think.

 

+100. This offense is built for EJ. He was playing well and even if the game went just as it did un til the last drive and we needed a TD to win, I absolutely feel EJ drives and we get the W. I wish the Bills had a more viable backup for him, but they tried with Kolb and he is out. I would like to see them get Freeman, but he apparently has his choice of treams and will want to go somewhere he can be the starter eventually. I don't think that is here. I can see him going tlo Houston.

 

EJ is extremely talented. He is hard to defend. He has a great future. The best thing the Bills did was not let him back in that game. We need him for the long haul, I don't care about the stupid Browns game.

 

Also, I am pissed that the local media in Ohio is saying Kiko's hit on Hoyer is a penalty, fineable and dirty. Serously? How about the guy who went right at EJ's knew and then you could see a Browns player fist pump when he went out? Plus there were taunting penalties not called on the Browns when they were called on the Bills. I really dislike the opposing team cheering that a guy is hurt.

Yes, some questionable officiating the year. But, yesterday was not near as bad as the Baltimore game.....I never saw so many bad calls and missed calls. that business on the Baltimore O line was crazy. The guard was moving in advance on every play, and they call it once during the game. I was there, and I saw it. Funny, very visible from the lower bowl, and not visible on the field.

Not surprised here....saw him kick in person at both the Carolina and Baltimore games. He really was inconsistent, and was outkicked by the punters on both of those other teams. Couple of shanks against Baltimore. I think last night was just the final straw. OF course, the coverage teams are at fault on those returns as well.., but he had to kick high to give time to cover, and he was not doing that. Maybe draft a punter again next year......

Actually, Byrd puts who on the bench....Jim Leonard.....small slow guy who is directing traffic out there because he knows the Defense.......replace with Byrd who has never played a down with this D. Or, do you put A Williams on the bench, who is playing out of his skull right now. Not sure we get an improvement right away.......might be more talented physically if Leonard sits.......but, maybe not as savy. After all, Leonard only has two picks so far, just like Williams. Yeh, I saw Kiko on ESPN today, live. He did warm up to question about the Oregon Ducks, his alma mater and their team this year.

moderators please remove this member IMMEDIATELY. no one talks bad about Graham. Most teams would KILL for a WR will that much speed and RAW talent. The kind of game-breaking end that can occupy a CB an SS and an FS on a single go route. ONLY A BILLS FAN would want that kind of pure unadulterated speed REMOVED from the field. And for who? Marcus Easely. A preseason hero. Everyone's a hero in the preseason.

The error in your analysis is that Graham is a wide receiver. He has almost no receiving skills. On a long ball to him against Carolina, which was well thrown, the Carolina db knocked the ball down for a great defend (their only one of the day) But, Graham, the receiver in question never even looked back, and the ball would have hit him in the back of the head had the defensive play not occured. Graham is beyond RAW here. I say, give Easley a shot, he cannot be worse than Graham at this point. (I saw this play right in front of me at the game)
