lynch case to be solved within days

I thought both the Porsche and Escalade were both owned by auto dealers. Who pays for the insurance? I would think they do, but maybe I'm wrong. -

He never had a porn site. It was a private folder of pics on his family's home server that wasn't password protected. And a lot of the content described by the LA Times article was exaggerated or outright lies. This link is an Op Ed piece written by a public defender and discusses hypothetical outcomes based on the accuracy (or lack thereof) of the original article. But nice try....

Obama's Baby Mama was on a news report, Terrorist Fist Jab was on a news show, technically not a report. I strongly disagree that Fox doesn't interject its opinions when reporting news. You're entitled to your opinion. Dan Rather's crusade was an anomaly and not the kind of reporting being discussed here. "Budweiser is the King of Beers" is a subjective boast that says we're better than others. "Fair and Balanced" can be subjective also, but when you openly show your predilection, time and time again, it's deceptive IMO, and no longer subjective. And they don't use those terms to describe only their news reporting; it's used to convey (or infer) a philosophy across the network. If you google Fox News "fair and balanced" -foxnews.com meaning don't include pages from the network itself, you get 511,000 results, and after scanning the first few pages, they all appear to questioning the fairness and balance. That's pretty significant in the court of 'web opinion'

Terrorist Fist Jab was said by the host of America's Pulse, a nightly news show. Obama's Baby Mama was displayed with an onscreen graphic on a Fox News afternoon broadcast, during a segment discussing conservative attacks against Michelle Obama.

according to Salon: While you can easily write off a blog entry as a whim, the Poynter Institute is a well respected private school for journalism and their blog is mostly visited by professional journalists.

of course, it's part and parcel of what they do. A couple years ago, an ex-Fox News producer named Charlie Riena wrote a letter to Poynter Online, a journalism blog. Here's a couple of interesting quotes: and

I'd try Yahoo Answers. I asked an obscure language question there and got a good response in a couple days. -
CNN Crunches Obama's And McCains Tax Plans
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to Steely Dan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
ok, thanks. I really didn't know what the constitution said about spending or balanced budget, and I had a similar (admittedly knee jerk) reaction; as in not sure that our 18th century, well intentioned founding fathers could foresee what our economy would require in 2009. -
No, what I am saying, and I think others would agree, is that we expect and accept bias from all of the networks. There is no doubt that NBC is on the far left, but subjectively they are not ultra left wing. CNN tries to stay neutral by hiring conservatives and republican consultants, and we can argue about how well they pull this off. Fox goes way to the other extreme and openly pounds all democratic views on a constant basis. Terrorist Fist Jab and Obama's Baby Mama on news programs are recent examples, but there's so many others. Do any of the other networks pull stuff like that? The so called "Opinion shows" on Fox are venomous and ruthless in condemning all opposing points of view. The most outrageous show on the left is Keith Olbermann's and he certainly attacks people he believes are so disgusting that they deserve a tirade, and I'm not supporting that either. The difference is it's selective and occasional. He'll say George Bush is the Worst Person in the World because Bush says he will give up golf for the troops while they're being killed and injured. But KO doesn't say All Republicans are azzwipes because they support the war in Iraq, or any kind of stereotype that categorizes an entire political spectrum With Fox it's all gloves-off, arbitrary and constant, and they have the balls to say they're fair and balanced. That's not only deceptive, but a fraud, and we deserve better from the media, but I realize that's a pipe dream... I welcome opposing views, I learn from it and sometimes I change my opinion or outlook as a result. Just be respectful in making your points and try to keep an open perspective. Keywords are 'agree to disagree' and there's nothing wrong with that. You're not really saying engaging and energizing the youth vote is Leninist propaganda are you? Whoa!

Looking for an Airline Deal webpage
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to JimBob2232's topic in Off the Wall Archives
kayak is a really good meta search engine in that it scans lots of travel sites and airline sites to bring all the choices to you. I don't think it does what JimBob wants: enter a departure city and have it spit out all the destinations and prices. -

I caught some special last night that NBC was doing in tribute. It was a rerun that TR and Brokaw did about his book Wisdom of our Fathers. He told one genuine story after another; stories that other people had told him about their relationships with their fathers. And he'd laugh after each one like you were sitting next to him on the couch. Amazing... -
well Nobody said they were pure news programs, nor are they expected to present content like news. However, they're part of Fox News Network which labels itself Fair and Balanced. And there's lots of opinion shows on other networks, but they're nowhere near as openly biased as these, not even close.

The real villain here is Spot Coffee and I'm surprised no one has mentioned it. They're to blame, because if they weren't open those ridiculous hours and taking advantage of drunks, none of this would have happened. We need Cellino and Barnes all over this! Spot Coffee needs to pay for seducing this poor, drunk Canadian girl, who never would have crossed the street (and destroyed a pro football team and a promising young star) that fateful night if they didn't serve that caffeine laced nectar of the gods at 3:30 am.

You're totally correct of course. I'm just (stupidly) saying take a step back and look at this network objectively. They ought to change their tag line to "Republicans are right, deal with it!"

yes, agree. I was giving the one-sentence answer -
ya, I don't disagree with that. It's pretty bad when a prominent national media company does it so blatantly. I was channel surfing last night and caught some show on FN called The Beltway Boys. Every other sentence started with "those democrats stupidly said" or "the democrats are so scary that" etc. etc. It was just partisan bashing the other party left and right, no punches pulled. I guess it's good that they're open and up front about it, but how can you call yourself "fair and balanced" with shows like that. There is no equivalent on any other network, at least that I've seen.

Even though the "fist jab" comment was ridiculous, you could see that E.D. Hill was trying to make it sound like it was one of a number of possible interpretations. But the "baby mama" graphic was crystal clear in that it was the intent of the show to label her.

This sentence kinda threw me a curve. Does he mean the reverse? Lynch is an elite and talented running back, who happens to be really good at catching the ball out of the backfield. We definitely need to take advantage of the latter. Faircoacheslikeachild is gone, Go Turk! -

What if I invested in Kodak, sold my shares at a profit and used the money to start my own business? or Kodak using the investment from stock purchases to start a new product line. There's lots of examples, but they don't always pan out in the real world. As an example, Exxon invests a lot in R&D, but uses a huge % of net to buy back stock, which only helps the shareholders. The problem becomes when you continually try to encourage investment by rewarding corporations and rich people, someone usually suffers, like the lower incomes or middle class. There has to be some middle ground where we reward entrepreneurs and help families that can't keep up, but maintain enough revenue in the Treasury. Not easy to do...
