  1. they haven't started digging with the robotic arm yet, which proves it, but newer images are convincing them that it's ice
  2. I'm not doubting your experience or patriotism in any way, but if they were doing something like this, it would be totally on the dl
  3. then you woke up from your dream and realized The Messiah's hand was on the bible at the inauguration
  4. nice spin... too bad the issue is how McCain and Obama are burned out from campaigning and will undoubtedly make mistakes in speeches from now till November, not how stressful the job of POTUS is
  5. it's a Russian design, a veritable bargain at $19M
  6. US accused of holding terror suspects on prison ships Who knows if it's true, but doesn't help our reputation...
  7. If you think Harold Ickes is a total azzwipe, watch these.
  8. ummm, watch what happens the day after (and before that actually) the Montana and South Dakota primaries end. The Superdelegates will sign on with Obama, probably close to 100% of the uncommitted. They have no reason to wait after that and they absolutely won't.
  9. Donna Brazile had a great a response to a Clinton supporter who was speaking, words to the effect of my momma taught me to obey the rules and I'm sure your momma did too. She would have also that changing the rules during the game is called cheating.
  10. If we were talking about stress, you might have a point. And Bush rarely speaks more than once a day, many days not at all. While being stressed out might have a sizeable effect on your ability to think clearly, it's more about the confusion factor from lack of sleep, jet lag, and speaking multiple times a day, without much down time.
  11. umm, if Mr Bush was campaigning for more than 12 months or traveling constantly, he'd get a few more Get-Outa-Gaffe Free Cards. Obama messes up the language, and after declaring himself so much more qualified, McCain doesn't know how many troops are in Iraq. I don't see either getting a free ride. They're both dazed and confused, as anyone would be in their shoes.
  12. seems like if you accept that both candidates live on airplanes, criss-crossing time zones, eating on the run, multiple stops a day continually, they're going to mess up sometimes. a candidate that accepts responsibility for his own actions and doesn't try to spin it? yeah, I like that, but maybe it's just me...
  13. Sure he makes gaffes, then quickly apologizes for his mistake and moves on. When it happens with McSame, his campaign tells you're wrong, that he meant something else.
  14. Dem's RBC agrees to seat FL & MI at 1/2 vote each They broke for lunch about 2:30 after hearing all the proposals and speakers, and said they'd come back at 4:15. Instead they came back at like 6:30 after all the off camera stuff was done and did their 2-act play for the viewers. Huffman was the good Clintonite, motioning for full voting rights. When it failed, she stood up and supported the compromised bill and it just barely passed. They ended up giving Obama all of the MI undecided vote and 4 of Hillary's delegates. lol It coulda been a lot more dramatic, maybe all those eyeballs helped them make some compromise they wouldn't have otherwise. Another thing I noticed... when the Clinton fans heard something they liked, they cheered loudly, lots of time interrupting the meeting, then booed loudly when something didn't go their way, really disruptive then. The Obama side cheered loud when they heard what they liked and didn't say jack when it was the other way.
  15. in the same context, reminds me of my ex father-in-law. Same kinda right-wing political views. We could talk for hours on a whole range of subjects, but I knew never to question his politics or bring up subjects that would set him off. Because it was futile and a waste of energy. Whenever people talk about how did Obama sit through 20 years of Reverend Wright, I always think about this man. You knew better than to question his views even though you were vehemently opposed to them. That doesn't mean you disown him or that he influenced you in any way on those subjects.
  16. I sometimes wonder how many people would make statements like this before Guilt By Association became so ingrained in the political process. We really have to get back to the issues or at least ask the candidates if they agree in any way with what hairballs like Pfleger or Hagee. Who cares what this idiot says or does? I saw a really interesting video clip of Newt Gingrich talking to Hannity and Colmes about Obama. Newt congratulates Hannity for his foresight with respect to Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers, but then tells him in no uncertain terms that if the Republicans focus on those things, and not how their party will change America, they will lose big in November. It's the media's job to make sure the candidate is vetted? Obama wouldn't be the leading candidate if we knew about Reverend Wright and Pfleger way back? Hmmm, I have trouble with that...
  17. really good analysis Peter In all fairness to Dubya, given his collection of advisers, he really didn't know what the costs would be, especially if they were using Afghanistan as a primary data point. The reasons were all wrong as you stated, but Hindsight 20/20 on the costs. Then again (also as you corrected pointed out) they didn't plan the occupation, so it's no surprising how far off they were on the projected costs. You are also correct he didn't come up with the idea on his own. People that were in the room at Camp David 4 days after 9/11 when the response was being formulated, gave specific accounts of Wolfowicz and others trying to position Saddam and Iraq as the #1 threat in Middle East, if not the world. CIA and others said it was not the case; there was no evidence that supported that connection. George Tenet then ordered his team to check everything they had going back 10 years to see if there was a link that connected Iraq to 9/11 and there was none. However, the pro-Iraq invasion group eventually convinced Bush that he needed to remove Sadam and he ran with it...
  18. you're right, it's possible, but most of the CA plates have more numeric characters than alphabetic.
  19. damn, I totally missed that. Bad choice of words. Didn't even think about it relative to race, honestly.
  20. you're right. He admitted in the same video that he was behind the New York Post's decision to publicly endorse Hillary.
  21. lol, that's exactly what I meant, what else could it be?
  22. clearly supporting a liberal democratic candidate over a conservative choice
  23. I'm not passing judgment on Fox News. Murdoch is well known for his strong conservative views and Fox reflects those views. I think it's going to be interesting to see if they even report that their leader has gone to the dark side, and if they do, how will they position it.
  24. Murdoch political interview at WSJ 'All Things Digital' Reuters article Wonder how Fox News handles this
