  1. wow, hadn't heard that, I thought Shanahan lost in court and couldn't collect. what a scumbag Davis is
  2. yeah, I saw one version on nfl.com, apparently it was edited down from the original. When I saw it again on ESPN, he said it a lot...
  3. that is part of gobillsinytown's point; Davis's reputation as hiring, meddling, firing "with cause" and not paying means that thing called 'no money' will result Kiffin might win in court, but Shanahan lost that fight a few years ago. Things have changed somewhat since then, but so far it's Davis 1 - Fired Coaches 0
  4. tackling in the 1st half comes to mind, but it's that especially word that loses Mort credibility
  5. I agree that most don't connect the credit problem, how can the ad be effective if it's a blame game by a candidate that isn't considered to be a good fit for the solution?
  6. did anyone catch him accuse Kiffin of lying? he said it once near the end...
  7. in this ad, John McCain is going to all these lengths to show blame, and absolutely jack about what he's gonna do about it. If you couple that with most polls showing large percentages of the country saying that they trust Obama a lot more to fix the economy, seems like it's McCain's job to show what value he adds, not who caused that particular part of the problem.
  8. I agree with a lot of what your saying, and in that example, probably true. But there are people that were told by their bank how much they could borrow and/or how much down payment they needed, and rather than say, no, I can't afford that, and with a real estate market that was appreciating rapidly, they signed the paperwork. While there's a lot of hindsight 20/20 over whether they should've known the right thing to do at the time, all that is somewhat subjective. The reality is there are likely people who lived way beyond their means, made stupid decisions and deserve to pay, as well as those that got caught without necessarily trying to fool anyone. What are ways to help the truly needy and let those more self sufficient, as well as the greedy ones, fend for themselves? that would be a good discussion to have...
  9. well whaddayaknow... at least they're trying to make a difference SEC Clarification May Help Markets
  10. Bill Brooks as you said, came from the Colts and played for the Bills from 93-95 in almost every game. Bucky Brooks played one year for the Bills, then a few more with the Packers, Jags, Chiefs and Raiders. He never caught a pass after his Bills experience, mostly kick and punt returns.
  11. this is ugly, but it sounds a little too partisan. I'm totally guessing here, but it sounds more like the Speaker refused to twist arms. She wanted her people to vote with their conscience, not because some Democratic leader told them they needed to support the bill.
  12. Bills turnaround looks similar to job Dick Jauron did with '01 Bears
  13. we're #3 in Vic's NFL.com rankings and CBS Sports
  14. Very likely chain of events. It's also possible they couldn't deliver the votes they thought they had and ducked for cover, using the speech as the reason. There's a report by Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC that several Republican leaders told her that Newt Gingrich was actively lobbying House GOP reps to vote against it, then when the vote was in, he made a statement that he reluctantly supported it.
  15. umm not sure which speech you read, but there were prepared remarks, and then she deviated from that, with several zingers... $700 billion. A staggering number. But only a part of the cost of the failed Bush economic policies to our country. Policies that were built on budget recklessness. When President Bush took office, he inherited President Clinton’s surpluses — four years in a row, budget surpluses, on a trajectory of $5.6 trillion in surplus. And with his reckless economic policies, within two years, he had turned that around. and Those days are over. The party is over in that respect. Democrats believe in a free market. We know that it can create jobs, it can create wealth, it can create many good things in our economy. But in this case, in its unbridled form, as encouraged, supported, by the Republicans — some in the Republican Party, not all — it has created not jobs, not capital, it has created chaos.
  16. I heard a couple people say the fed should temporarily eliminate the mark to market accounting and temporarily replace it with something like a 3 yr rolling average, with the ability to revert or adjust as the market reacts. Seems like a relatively simple change that could have a huge effect. What's your take?
  17. that damn domino effect again...
  18. speaking of "primetime", a pretty funny quote from the man...
  19. Let's Go Primetime #7, seek to 1:12
  20. yes, sorry, I fixed the link above
  21. you're right, Pick One! Yeah, he did, 50% of the vote
  22. it's Lee Evans this week, VOTE HERE
  23. These guys have been friends for more years than you've likely been alive. How do you know what conversations took place between Ralph and Marv? Marv did what he was hired to do; turn around a storied franchise and get it into a position to be a winner. Mission accomplished...
  24. He undoubtedly never will come back as GM. Why? Because there are too many non-football aspects of the job, he made that very clear when he retired the last time.
  25. laptop wireless connectivity only works in wifi hotspots and the chances of getting a signal to something you could actually connect to at a wedding reception are slim. IQ is right, the broadband cards are much better since those carriers have built out a relatively good coverage map in order to sell these services to business customers.
