umm, Incognito is a guard, so unless you think Levitre is (permanently) moving to OT, your analysis is off. Also Nix and Gailey have both said that you build a team through the draft and use mid-range FAs to fill the holes. Lastly, it's really hard and expensive to find good OTs in FA, so not sure how that's gonna work either.

Jeff Owens (Georgia) as NT
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he was slotted anywhere from the 6-7th to the 3rd or 4th round, but his Senior Bowl performance lifted his stock. Sporting News actually thinks he might go late in the 1st round. Those numbers from the combine might help him even more. -
Let's ignore the fact that Kitna made 167 more attempts than Losman that year (596 vs 429), or that Lee Evans beat Furrey in every single other receiving statistic that year. Why let stats get in the way of a good bashing?

Gee, seems like the WR doesn't get to choose his routes or the plays. He runs the route that he's told! Are you really trying to say that the coach (for example) called a play that LE runs a crossing pattern and he didn't run it? Or, that somehow, he gets to influence what kind of plays are run based on his preferences? Pretty funny stuff.

Get on The Bills Bus or Get Off!
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to Driffill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's no blind loyalty or intentional ignorance here. TWR was trying to make a case that nobody really knows why CG was fired by the Chiefs, when there's so many sources that can understand the coaching situation in KC at the time. As has been pointed out many times, Jerry Jones regrets firing CG so quickly, so given both of these "firings", I'm not sure what your point is. Are there other offensive-minded coaches who would have made a better choice than CG? Ya, maybe true, but right now he's our head coach, and for the most part, he's saying and doing (pro experience in position coaching aside) the right things. -

Usually you have better insight than this, bummer. You seem to be one of the only persons who doesn't understand the definitive reason CG was fired from the Chiefs. Todd Haley is an OC by trade. He wanted to run his offense his way and you don't keep an OC like Gailey on staff if that's your intention. Get over it. I didn't realize that CG announced his offensive scheme yet. Since a TSW poster looked up some history on our new head coach, it's a done deal that this so-called "pistol" offense will be it? Seems like CG builds an offense around the talent he's been given, rather than choose the scheme and force fit it. IMO, we have a reasonable mix of pro and college coaches. Some of his choices for position coaches could been better if they had more professional experience, but I'll reserve judgment until they've had a chance to build a roster and played some games. -
Get on The Bills Bus or Get Off!

why? Ralph is going to die between now and then, and the "new owners" are moving the team? I wouldn't bet on it. -
I finally disagree with Nix

I think... that I have no clue what, if anything, Maybin took to gain weight so quickly. I also think that you can find an equal number of opinions that he absolutely or not necessarily took some kind of artificial enhancement to get there. He's 21, still growing, and that has to be a part of the analysis. I'll be the first to admit that he really hurt his chances by holding out and was a huge disappointment in his rookie year, but he absolutely deserves another opportunity to prove he can play in the NFL.
-
You said combine, not Pro Day. Ok, we get you. Maybin was juiced up, all wacked out on 'roids, and was the biggest mistake in the history of pro football draft picks. Turn that record over...
-
Maybin ran a 4.78 in the 40 at the combine, compared to the expected 4.61. Where do you get your info?
-
Read my quote! The fact that they worked him out doesn't change the original statement. Maybin hasn't had the opportunity yet, as in a full offseason, to learn how to drop into pass coverage and play in space.
-
and you know this because...? In AM's college career, he never had to drop in pass coverage and because of his holdout, the Bills never got a chance to train him how to cover receivers out of the backfield or short passes over the middle. Give him the chance to learn the OLB position with a full offseason and good coaching before you make statements like that.

Matt Moore from Carolina
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to C-zone Umpa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
but, but, but... he's a QB from California -
Seems like we have pretty good run blockers via our athletic young guards. What we don't have are enough good pass blockers to keep our tbd franchise QB off his back. Help me understand why we use our #9 pic on a good run blocker, when we desperately need a good or great LT to protect our QB's blind side?

Casey Hampton...

You really need a new routine, because the old one is so lame... Payroll costs come out of TV revenue and AFAIK, the DTV revenue (~$1B) and some of the other network money is guaranteed anyways. You have no information that RW will try to save money by cutting high cost players in preparation for a lockout, so just can it.

Bills 3-4 Be Aggressive & Attacking
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to Mr. ChumChums's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yes, but... CG is saying 2 things. That the 3-4 is hard to game-plan against and, since all of our division opponents run it, our offense will benefit from practicing against it every day. Say what you want against Belichick, but one of the reasons he wins a lot is because he's really good at game planning. So before we say shoulda/coulda/woulda, we should give the coaching staff the chance to do just that. -
One thing that stood out for me, and I guess it's intuitively obvious, but in response to a question as to whether he saw the draft as a way to get "his QB guy", he said you have to look at 4 areas; who's on the roster, who's available in the draft, who's available in FA, and who's on the trading block. Good answer!

Chris Ellis to be tried at LB
In-A-Gadda-Levitre replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
no, he's responsible for all OLBs; Maybin, Ellis, Ellison, Stamer, etc. I'm guessing that they bring in some veteran OLBs as well. -

it was buried in the article about retaining DeMonte Cross. Bob Sanders will now coach OLBs and Cross handles the ILBs.
