  1. AHA -- the real story... BREAKING NEWS: TURNER HELD HOSTAGE BY INSANE BILLS FAN CNN has learned that San Diego Chargers Restricted Free Agent Running Back Michael Turner is being held at gunpoint at the O'Hare Airport Embassy Suites Hotel. Turner, scheduled to visit Buffalo today to meet with officials from the National Football League's Buffalo Bills, apparently awoke to an unexpected room service knock on his hotel room door this morning at about 7 AM. The room service attendant, however, was an imposter. A rabid Bills fan who did not want Turner to visit and potentially agree to a deal to play with the Buffalo Bills. The armed assailant refused to let Turner exit and now some 10 hours later still holds the running back hostage. There is no confirmation of the assailant's identity. The only information is a strange code name, LSI@TBD. Turner was forced to overnight in Chicago last night after a connecting flight to Buffalo was cancelled. Stay tuned to CNN for further updates..and pray, yes pray for Michael Turner. Now back to Buffalo Bills fan, Wolf Blitzer....
  2. Added quotes around "Flight Issues" for emphasis...I believe you are correct sir...
  3. http://www.buffalonews.com/111/story/46650.html Sorry Folks...back to talking about the draft...
  4. If I tried to speculate why some people post what they post--I might end up more insane than I already am.... Ask Joyce Brothers or Dr. Phil
  5. Its been said a few times...but the Raiders scheme last year wasn't exactly the epitome of the modern offense...Jordan, when he wasn't being crushed in the backfield had very little room. Living in the Bay Area part-time last fall -- I gained a new respect for Jordan. It seemed often he was the only player on the Oakland O that really gave a sh-- about winning. Including Langston Walker... Its tough as a player when you know that there is a 99% chance you are going to be outcoached on Sunday. Without injury Jordan probably would have had another 1000 yard year..he missed the three games on O where Oakland actually performed well.
  6. Overdorf handles the turn your head and cough part....that's two organ references in one thread for me--I am edge dwelling on being banned..
  7. I usually go for the stale gum--its like old Topps Baseball Card bum-now that I think about it that's pretty disgusting...
  8. Shoot, forgot to get that detail--let me call Guido back....
  9. My cousin is the bathroom attendant at the Airport...said Turner missed the urinal on the shake....
  10. Soprano and BILLS #1 told me...
  11. Marv if you are reading this message board, please get back to work. Also, DeLuca says he is sorry.
  12. Point was we already have 3 young safeties and little experience. 3 is enough in my opinion..we have young secondary depth...only K. Thomas has plus 5 years...the rest McGee Youboty Greer Whitner Simpson Bassey (who by the way has off the charts speed and size measurables) Leonhard All are 4 years in the league or less That's 7 folks already--we will draft a young corner to make it 8 -- you can only play a max of 6 at a time-how many do we need? We have enough need positions in the draft--I would rather use our 3 picks in 6 and 7 to get 1) #3 QB 2) A second LB -- where we need depth 3) A young WR or TE Again just my preference--but I disagree with the "you can never have too many" philosophy--it just means cutting someone at one position and ignoring an actual open roster spot at another.
  13. I wonder if the leg that LT snapped is now wooden...hmmmmmm....good thinking man--you are on top of your game as always
  14. I heard "Dancing with the Stars" may pick him up...He and Joe Theismann as partners
  15. Damn biggest Chicken I have ever seen...wow...Duff's be looking for a chicken like that... Can we hold him hostage until we make the deal?
  16. Not really worth investing a draft pick when we have 3 young safeties. A vet would be nice. Appears to be a great fit who can provide Simpson, Whitner and Leonhard with some veteran perspective. A lot like Spragan could do for the LB corps.
  17. Wow..he's Aquarian (not that there is anything wrong with that)--Jim Kelly, Drew Bledsoe Traditional Aquarian Traits Friendly and humanitarian Honest and loyal Original and inventive Independent and intellectual On the dark side.... Intractable and contrary Perverse and unpredictable (Willis?) Unemotional and detached
  18. Agreed Clump...but if its true -- I love the fact that we are sending the message we want to build a team to win now...this team is basically going to be together intact for the next 3 years..next year hopefully the holes to fill will be few. Next year's first round pick is a crapshoot and may not be needed to fill a hole. Turner has shown he can succeed at the NFL level...6 yards per carry on 157 carries with good speed...never really been injured...this is a good risk to take. We still have 3 picks in the top 100 and we fill the LB and CB with new talent with those--both positions have good talent depth in the draft... If this is true -- I am pumped...
  19. Not sure we have the run stuffer we need yet at nose tackle Dean...just my trepidation about going into the season with Kyle Williams (who I love for effort); McCargo (is the foot thing chronic); Anderson (is gaining 20 lbs going to make him a better player or just an overweight underachiever)...
  20. I know this is overused--but in cover 2 its not just drafting Youboty last year that will help, its also the development of Whitner and Simpson. They have the deep part of the field on most passing plays and the corners have the edges to mid range routes and the LB's have the mid to short middles--the corners can play aggressive in most scenarios...here is a diagram http://espn.go.com/ncf/columns/davie/1437187.html Bill--you hit it--the Bills prepared for the loss of Clements last year with the drafting of not just Youboty but also Ko and Donte--their improvement will help greatly in making up for Nate's loss. The safeties have deep--the LB's must be able to cover, the corners must be physical and not allow receivers to flood deep areas unimpeded.. The other thing I like is upgrading the interior pass with Walker--we did not get push from the middle last year--our edge guys did fine--hopefully Walker will change that. But I, like Ralph, wonder who is going to stop the run...3 of the first 4 picks may end up being front seven folks...it will be interesting......If Branch or Okoye fall -- and Willis is there--it will be a tough choice.... BTW--the highest rated player in Pro Football Weekly's draft guide is a tie between Peterson and Johnson..Nolan Nawrocki thinks Peterson is a stud....and says he is worth the durability risk..
  21. He either had to write another softball blurb about one of his daughters or a triple shot, all fat, venti latte was calling him at Starbuck's...Pete's got his priorities..
  22. From Peter King's 10 things I think I think summary of the Owner's meeting... 5. I think this is my Leftover Scene of the Week from the league meetings: Wednesday morning, around 8:50, just off the back of the lobby, sat a cadre of Buffalo Bills braintrust -- owner Ralph Wilson, GM Marv Levy, coach Dick Jauron, and vice president of business administration Jim Overdorf. "We've got to be able to stop the run,'' Wilson said to the group as I walked past. "Are we going to be able to stop the run?'' I didn't wait to hear the reply, but I thought if I were Jauron, I wouldn't say no I think we know where the owner's priority is.....the front Seven... 23. A lock for the pro bowl...most of them are just jealous of Spragan's lack of a felony conviction..
  24. I am an idiot...thanks for calling me on it Fake :-) Typed without thinking... Spragan would be good depth...flexible with weakside or strongside...Stanford educated...31 years old by the time the season starts and a proven special teams guy.. Here is his scouting report from Scouts.com Spragan has good size, strength and plays with a high motor. He is versatile enough to play either outside spot and contribute as a core special team player. He has enough functional strength to set the edge. He has above-average slide and lateral mobility. He can avoid and play through trash fairly well. He has some pursuit range and closing speed off the back side. He is a strong tackler in the box. He can open his hips and get to underneath drops in coverage. He has some anticipation as a blitzer. But Spragan lacks ideal power, agility and suddenness. He isn't a physical take-on player. His stack-and-shed isn't very explosive. He gets stuck on blocks when setting the edge and has a hard time finding the ball. He struggles to protect his lower half. He is a little stiff and lacks ideal range and stop-and-restart ability. He struggles to avoid blockers and make plays on the blitz.
