  1. I hope to have the opportunity to break out the vaporizer tonight.
  2. I am simply posting this for those who know me for real, or who have known me for years on this board. My father died yesterday, peacefully in his home, in his bed, of congestive heart failure. He was 86. I took my Dad to the doctor early Monday morning because he wasn't feeling well. They gave him an oxygen treatment, a shot of lasix and a shot of antibiotics. I took him to get a chest X-Ray and blood work and then home. I rescheduled all my calls to stay with him and suggested we go to the hospital when it seemed like he was having some breathing trouble. He didn't want to go, and asked me to call the doctor. The doctor's office said they would call to get the X-Ray results and when I went to his bedroom to tell my Dad he was in his bed, not breathing. I gave him CPR and called 911. They responded immediately (less than 2 minutes, I estimate). They worked on him for quite a while but it was obvious to me he was gone. He died very peacefully. I asked the doctor at the hospital if things would have been different if I had forced him to go to the hospital earlier (yeah, right...try forcing an old Italian man to do anything he doesn't want to do). She thinks he would have died in the Emergency waiting room. Even if his regular doctor had sent him to the hospital, I think he might be clinging to "life" on tubes and machines. All in all, he died as well as one can ask for. (Well, for me I'd prefer to have a drink in my hand, or die mid-coitus. But my Dad didn't drink and was 86, so neither of those conditions apply.) He will be cremated and buried in Jacksonville National Cemetery which is a VA cemetery. As he is a disabled WWII vet, he will have an honor guard at his burial. We will have a celebration of his life sometime this summer in Niagara Falls. My mother is a rock and taking this quite well (dementia has an upside!). My brother is in the hospital clinging to what little life he still has. My sister (and her husband) and I are handling all the arrangements. Everyone is fine and thankful for the great life he had. As I recently lost one of my best friends, I am a bit numb, but doing fine. Both of them went quickly and suffered very little. I am thankful for that. The next few years look to hold more of the same, unfortunately. But we must tread on. I will be fine, please don't shed a tear for me. I am happy I got to spend the last day with my Dad. Just give an extra hug to your loved ones tonight or tomorrow.
  3. Anyone have a link for this game? I had it early, but it went down. Still searching...
  4. Because he isn't sold on Tebow? Or are you pissed for a different reason? I find your reaction a bit over the top.
  5. I don't like Jones, but I think that's one of the first times I actually like listening to him. I don't necessarily agree with everything he said, but it's refreshing to hear someone like him talk honestly. Maybe more of these guys should drink before making public statements.
  6. I wouldn't attempt to guess who called whom. But my point was, the title of the thread says "No call, no show". I don't see anything that states Lynch didn't call. The only thing I see in that regard is that Lynch has talked to the GM but not the coach. I'm not defending Marshawn here, IMO he should attend the workouts. But there is a difference between a player who is MIA and one that simply isn't attending the workout. "No call, no show"suggests a MIA-type situation, at least to me that is. So, while I agree with most of the criticism, I'm just not sure that particular punch was clean.
  7. And tax it! Brilliant! Hey, it works in Canada.
  8. I think someone like you, who has demonstrated the reading comprehension of a 5th grader (I'm being generous here) may want to think before throwing stones. In this conversation, you have demonstrated you can't find your ass with both hands.
  9. No need to lie about it. Apparently he DID call: With that said, I prefer these guys, especially one with the history of Marshawn, be there as early as possible. It doesn't reflect well on him. But it isn't the end of the world, either. At least not yet.
  10. Let me see if I have this right. You want me to explain, in a message board post, the intricate relationship between the national economy and the economy of its largest state. Furthermore, you want me to explain it to a guy who read these two comments in one two-sentence paragraph ("The country is in financial difficulty for MANY reasons..." and "...it isn't the only reason.") and somehow decided two of the examples I gave were the ONLY reasons. Do I have that right? I'm going to have to pass on that very enticing offer. But thanks, anyway.
  11. What I should have said was: Give it a shot and see if you like it. It's fee and installs and uninstalls easily, I believe.
  12. I used IE7 Pro for a while. It made IE7 a little more bearable, but if I recall it was a little bit buggy. I think I initially used it for the spell check, and kept using that. I don't use IE too much, and IE8 has been installed on my machine for some time now. I recall trying to see if there was a version for IE8, so I guess I thought it was OK. I wish my recollections about this were more specific.

  14. Thanks, but clearly there are some who simply cannot read and/or have no ability to interpret outside of their rigid preconceptions. I very clearly stated there were many reasons. Should I conclude that, by leaving out certain issues other posters think they make ZERO difference in the economy of our country, or any particular state? (The crazy thing is, I think some here may actually think that.)
  15. It's ignorant crap like this that makes the rest of your babbling nonsense not even worth reading. You really need to mature intellectually.
  16. Good info. Keep in mind, Romo spent 3 years collecting dust on the bench. If that's the model, do the Bills have 4 years to wait for Tebow to develop?
  17. The country is in financial difficulty for MANY reasons, not the least of which is a military with spends with impunity and the last administration's insistence on fighting and expensive, and stupid, war in Iraq. But as you note, it isn't the only reason. I find your characterization of those in need as "lazy" too stupid to address. And I won't dignify your moronic attempt to paint me as a "hippy" or some knee-jerk unthinking liberal. You are a real embarrassment to intelligent conservatives in this country. But I agree, legalizing pot simply for the sake of adding money to the govt coffers is nonsensical. I happen to think there are many reasons to legalize pot, ONE of which is the tax revenue it will raise. I realize that might be a little complex for you.
  18. BTW, I don't see this topic anywhere on Bills Daily: http://billsdaily.com/
  19. And some ask why the mods have decided to put all the Tebow posts in one thread.
  20. How about Troy Aikman? There were plenty of rumors about him.
  21. I'd like to think plenty of people will grow their own, but we know most won't. You can bake better bread than you can get at the store, still most buy junk a their local market. Basil grows like a weed, yet many pay $2.50 for a very small bunch. I really hope I can get pot from a quality tobacco store, one that specializes in good cigars and pipes. That seems like the right kind of venue, to me.
