There is understandably a lot of doubt about whether or not Davis can be a successful, top tier #2 WR for the duration of an entire season.

Count me among those that has very little doubt. All he has lacked so far is opportunity.

He seems to have an elite work ethic and tireless drive to succeed. He's big, strong, finds ways to get open, and has a great rapport with Josh, especially on broken plays.

I think Diggs/Davis becomes one of the top duos in the league this year.

My only real concern is finding a way to re-sign both Davis and Dawson Knox, as losing either would represent a considerable blow to the offense.

Until he consistently "does it" doubt will remain. But like you, I'm very high on Gabe. His catch to target ratio is high, as is his TD to catch ratio.

And he has fantastic toe-drag swag. The Bills are betting on Gabe this year.  I'd make that bet, too.

You may be right. My answer was in response to @Xwnyer who posted, "Would actually be great since I am moving in October n can’t put a dish up until HOA approves likely 2 months after move in." My point was that the HOA cannot stop you from putting up a DTV or Dish Network satellite on your property and you don't need their permission. They are all bark and no bite.  Attempting to put up one of those big C-Band dishes is another story.

Yes I know.  Mostly I was just supplying this info as I didn't see it mentioned. No need for the dish at all, it seems. Perhaps Xwner can skip the HOA fuss altogether.

I heard this morning AppleTV won the contract, starting in September.

    (sources within)

    Right

I see absolutely ZERO about this anywhere. The most recent news is still that it will be announced by the fall of this year. And DTV still has this coming season on their contract. So if it were awarded for fall of 2022, my guess is it will also be on DTV for one season. But even that is just a WAG.

Are you moving into a single-dwelling home? If so, you don't need your HOA's approval. It's a communications device and they can't prohibit you from installing a dish (39" or less) within the confines of your property.

"In 1996, the FCC adopted the Over the Air Reception Device Rule, or OTARD rule. In short, the OTARD rule prohibits homeowners' associations and condominium associations from placing restrictions on residents which impede the installation, maintenance, or use of satellite dishes, TV antennas, or wireless cable antennas."

DirecTV has an online streaming option now. No dish needed. And I don't think you need to prove you can't use a dish. Open for all, is what I'm getting:

Idk, EVERY QB discussion I’ve heard begins with Allen🤷‍♂️

Agreed. That was a terrible take, IMO. But I can understand if it she/he's talking about what's being discussed very recently. Mayfield was just traded to a team that Darnold is already on. This is actually sports news. At the moment, there is no drama surrounding Josh. So one should expect more stories about Mayfield and Darnold at this moment in time at least.

The reality is that people using this method of watching anything outside of their allowed market is likely 0.001% of the overall viewership.

I don't know if the number is that small but the cost to go after people for doing this is likely greater than the amount they are losing.

Also going after the VPN companies would be a waste since probably 95% of their usage is legal.

The VPN itself if most likely completely legal. What is illegal is the service allowing the streaming of games that are legally protected. Charging for them complicates the matter even more for the service provider.

There are plenty of reasons some may survive for a long time. Not the least of which these services are typically based overseas (Russia, Eastern Europe, etc) often protected by "bulletproof" hosting providers. The same kind of protection scammers/spammers use. It typically takes a lot of time/effort and international cooperation to take these things down. And as you note, in the grand scheme of all  issues law enforcement is facing and the battles the NFL is currently fighting, it probably is a very low priority.  But of course some have been taken down in the past.  But never assume "getting away with something" makes it legal. It does not.

While the act of using a VPN is not inherently illegal in the US, many activities done using a VPN might be illegal.

Here’s what you shouldn’t do with a VPN in the US:

Pirate copyrighted content. Although copyright law is rarely enforced against individual citizens who pirate content, it’s still illegal—and there might be repercussions from your Internet service provider (ISP) in case your VPN leaks or logs data.

I really don't want this to get too political, but I think many from all sides of the issue understand the USA has done a terrible job of administering the death penalty for much of its history.  There are just so many disparities of who actually gets convicted/put to death it's a mockery.  I'm not sure I'd ever support anything like that until that gets a bit more straightened out.

Why has this been around for over a decade then? If it was illegal the folks who say it is illegal would have done something about it. No? Or is there some kind of morals involved here. Me personally... I'm not missing Bills/Sabres games. The superboxes are readily available on Amazon, walmart, and a shift ton of other venues. It's perfectly fine to use... as are the sites you can use on the internet. Trust me man, I'm not missing out on a Bills game no matter what. Isn't that what this mafia crap is about lol.

No morals involved here at all, from my end. I'm NOT suggesting you and others shouldn't use it. Not sure where you are getting that. I'm simply saying it is NOT 100% legal, so you should at least know that. In a pinch, I'll jump on a stream to watch a Bills game. For the past 5 or so years I have always been able to see it. But I'm not going to tell myself, or others, that it is legal.  That was my only point.

Yeah, so this one has been discussed upstream and is a little fuzzy.

If you are using a GPS spoofer you are not necessarily watching any licensed content illegally, you're simply telling your device you are in one location while you are actually in another.  You're watching free programming in a local market, only you're not actually in that market.  Is that "technically" illegal?  Yeah, sure, but who exactly is going to come after you for doing it?

Precisely. It is illegal. But it isn't like you will go to jail. But those are different things. You may want to read all of the user agreement on any of the tools you use to see if there is a disclaimer that it should not be used for any illegal purpose/bypass any legal agreement.

It allows you to watch local television in different markets... so, if the game is on WGR for example, you tune in to WGR... not directv.

You are streaming the game, outside of the home market. That's illegal. No way around that. You can pretend it is legal, but it is not

Since Sunday Ticket is exclusive to DTV, nobody else holds the correct licenses to provide it. Therefore it is illegal.

    Precisely

DirecTV has the EXCLUSIVE rights to streaming the NFL on Sunday afternoon, in the USA.  Period.  Where in that article do you see that watching NFL game on that platform is legal in the USA?  I didn't see it.

In fact, since you pay for that service (and they don't pay any rights to the NFL or the networks who also have rights to the game) it's VERY illegal.

I had DTV for 17 years and dumped it like 8 years ago. Haven't missed a Bills game since except for one but it was a preseason game and I absolutely had to be at work.

It's out there for free and reliable, and legal.

100% NOT legal.  You almost certainly won't be caught/charged/prosecuted,  but that doesn't make it legal.

I am as hyped for this season as I have ever been! It can be a special season as long as everyone plays to their potential.

Seeing as this is my first post and I didn't see an introduction thread?

Anyway, Bills fan from North Carolina and a middle school teacher. Became a fan due to my girlfriend in high school being from Buffalo and therefore started watching the games with her(No longer together but that's a long story lol). Anyway been a fan since and eager to get this season started. Rest of my family are Panthers fans...bless their hearts.

    Bills Mafia 4 life!

I wasn't familiar with her and an old mando picker I know had told me to make sure I didn't miss her set.

When she walked on with just a bass player and one guy with a handheld drum I was in the middle of the field sitting in a chair and actually had my back turned to the stage, watching a great sunset and sharing a hog leg with some friends. Within minutes of her opening her mouth I had left the chair and maneuvered to around 5th row center and then spent the next 45 minutes wondering if she would give me my soul back when she was done with it.

Almost brought tears to my eyes with one of the most genuine displays of individual power I've ever witnessed.

    Yup. You got that right.

Never cared for Mayfield but I feel bad for the guy. He got a raw deal, and the Browns are so dumb. Glad I'm a Bills fan, been a while since I've been able to say that!!!

Can't really dispute that. On the other hand, is Baker simply a victim of the Brown's disfunction? Perhaps if he had the same physical attributes but with a different personality/attitude, might things have gone better for the Browns?

When he was drafted I thought he was fortunate to join the Browns*. They loaded the team with talent his first two years. However I suspect personality/culture wasn't a driving issue at the time.  That team needed TALENT. I just wonder if he could have been different.

Perhaps if Baker could have worked to lead the team culture (the way Josh has in Buffalo**) things might have gone differently.

    * Full disclosure: After that draft, I thought all the 1st round QBs went to very good situations for them. 2 for 5 I guess.

** Gratuitous Bills homer Josh reference.

Just spent 4-5 days camped in the middle of this hilarity, logging a bunch of time in the first row in front of some of the world's best musicians.

Great party; incredible picking in the bluegrass capital of the world.

That looks awesome, Simon. Love a good bluegrass fest out in the open.  It looks like Rhiannon Giddens was there. She's fantastic, IMO

Let’s see what he can get for Keenum.

I think Keenum is probably as good as,  or better,  than Mayfield or Darnold. I feel similarly about Trubisky, Jimmy G. That is I think they are as good as, probably better, than Baker

I'm not totally convinced Mayfield is much better than Minshew. And I'm pretty sure Tua will have a better NFL career than Baker.

Actually I'm a Bills fan. It's ok to disagree.

Of course. A little explanation/support for your opinion would be nice, dontca think? Are you capable of that?

I'd think one would look to introduce themselves by posting something interesting and well thought out. You are 0-2 so far, IMO.

🤔 Is there a chance that after the midway point of the season if a team such as the Bucs or say the Bills are making a dominating SB run & say a player would get hurt at the same position that Gronk plays .

Would he un retire for another SB ? 🤔

I believe he's already preparing to come back to TB.

I don't think it makes sense to go to another team/QB/system midway through the season. He's familiar enough with TB's offense and especially Brady to jump right in and contribute
