  1. IMO an issue here is the term "Domestic VIOLENCE " added to the charge. That triggers certain legal procedures, as well as putting a (possibly incorrect) stigma on the accused.  If in fact there was no physical violence,  perhaps they should use "A Domestic Situation (or Component) enhancer".

I'm not suggesting the officers or DA did anything wrong,  but sticking a DV label on a non-violent offense makes things messy IMO. I feel the same way about the poor sap who takes a leak in the bushes only to be arrested as a sex offender because the bushes were in the vicinity of a school.

This obsession has kept me amused for a while now, but every now and then I think about responding like this.

    What "Obsession"?

What I see is people discussing having a punter, who hasn't held for FGs in person, possibly having a hard time with it. That's really the crux of the entire discussion.  Like most, I expect Araiza to learn to do it before the season starts. But don't make like it's a total non-issue. Beane himself said it's an issue!!!  And remember, the Bills want all their units to be EXCELLENT. Not just OK.

They also will be looking at his hang time and ability to keep from punting through the endzone on the few punts they may have from the mid-field area. Again, I'm betting Araiza will be fine. But a discussion about it isn't an obsession.  Completely dismissing it as a non-issue is simply ignoring detail.

No way are they keeping 3 QB's for this on the active roster.  If it really came down to Araiza is terrible at holding, better chance they'd keep Haack for holding rather than start training someone else, or use someone else who's a core ST player.

I think the only way Araiza doesn't stick is if he pulls a Gary Anderson in camp and pre season.  He'd better learn to hold and fast.

That happens when the bills and titans win their division, they are guranteed to play each other.

    More complicated than that.

The Bills didn't win their division in 2017, but played the Titans in 2018. They didn't win the division in 2018, but played the Titans in 2019.  They didn't win the division in 2019, but played the Titans in 2020...should I go on?

I think the Bills and Titans are just mirroring each other in the standings of their division.

It’s not hard to see the Bills schedule for the next 10 years. Google future NFL schedules and you can see 14 of the 17 teams they will play each year. The other 3 are determined by last years record. There is no Goodell conspiracy 😱

I think much of the paranoia comes from years of getting important teams when they have off byes/extended days off. This year has turned that on its head a bit.

But doesn't it seem like the Bills play the Titans every freaking year, lately?

Well I ended up at the Hampton in downtown, figured it was close to most things and I'm not from Buffalo so I'll get a good look at the city.

As far as seating I ended up in sec. 310 3rd row. From other stadiums I know as long as you are towards the front it really isn't that bad.

All things considered the overall cost wasn't so bad, I've been a fan since I was 12 or 13 (from Alabama so it's kinda odd) and never went up for a home game. Usually just catch them when they play games in the southeast.

Good choices all around, I think.  Have a blast. I'm very jealous

Then the Bills need to wrap up home field advantage early so they can have bye week before first playoff game.

Watched playoff game in Hawaii in 90's Superbowl run.  Ate breakfast at place where if you finish the 12 egg dish it was free (it wasn't, too much potatoes in it) and watched game there.

I lived on the west coast for most of the 90's.  IMO there's nothing better than an early morning Bills game. Probably my favorite time to watch them.

i love LOVE the schedule. yes the first 6 games are tough, but its good to get battled test quickly and sharpen the iron ASAP.

This schedule is about as good as it gets for a division winning team, IMO. Some people just look for anything to complain about. It's quite sad IMO

I get it. But we're getting 80 degree weather in mid May and still have a summer to get through. I don't think anyone wants some countdown that's counting down the summer before it even starts

MANY of us do want it. Because we can actually have our summer fun while there is a countdown to the season going on on TBD. We have AMAZING Superpowers, it seems.

Awesome!! BBB and staff must have an early tee time.  Go Beaner!

In the McAfee interview he did mention something about a golf trip (or fishing trip) coming up. Now maybe he can turn his phone off and enjoy it.  But I also don't discount another FA signing.

You obviously know much more about this than most of us. But a quick Google shows that the early Thanksgiving game last year averaged over 26 million viewers. MNF, SNF, and TNF all average substantially fewer viewers than that, these days.

Doesn't surprise me, actually. I think a huge percentage of viewing on Thanksgiving day is to sports programming.

  11. 9 minutes ago, Ya Digg? said:

Sounds like you are arguing semantics because you decided to be a troll. It’s a thanksgiving day game, which the NFL considers prime time. It is a game that everyone across the nation will be watching

Not really talking semantics. But yes, on sport forums it's common to call them Primetime games. But don't believe for one minute those at NFL think of it that way. The available audience in actual primetime is larger than in the afternoon---even on Thanksgiving. And the cost per rating point advertisers pay is higher at night than it is in the afternoon. Now it's been awhile since I've been in the biz and seen actual CPPs, but I'll assume a Thanksgiving afternoon game has a higher CPP than a Sunday afternoon game. But probably doesn't have the same CPP as a Sunday or Monday night (actual primetime) game. And I'd shocked if it has the CPP of the Thanksgiving night game.

The NFL uses the term Primetime because that is the TV and Ad Agency term, which has actual definitions.  Is it really that hard to just say "Nationally Televised" games? I'd doubt you'd have to deal with these petty posts if you did.

No, it isn't in any world but some random fans world. It's a nationally televised game. Is that too complicated for some to type?

    Although some may disagree:

In total, Buffalo landed six prime-time games. That’s right, six, because we count Thanksgiving because we’re normal as one.

    Yes!

Well, no. He right of course.

Plus when there was a roster spot for an emergency QB it was only to play QB, if I'm not mistaken. You couldn't let the guy play another position. And one of the other QBs had to be out for the rest of the game, I believe.

Am I the only one that's annoyed by all this "The Bills are going to the Super Bowl!!!" talk? I'm way too superstitious, and it's pissing me off. Everyone shut up already! Let's at least play a game or two!

    Your not totally off.

2021 - Neither of the Top 2 Betting Favorites even made the Super Bowl.

2020 - Chiefs were #1 but it was Bucs #4 who won it.

2019 - Neither of the Top 2 Betting Favorites even made the Super Bowl.

So who knows.  In the end it’s really just about ego and humans who feel they need to have control over every situation.

First of all, neither this article nor any other I've read says "The Bills are going to the Super Bowl!!!" .

Many are picking the Bills to be the favorites. At the moment the Bills are the betting favorites. And this post is about the chances in a computer simulation. That's all.  If you interpret them as guarantees, then yes, there is an issue. But it is on your end, I think.

None of the preseason crap means anything once the season starts. Too many things are unpredictable, not the least of which are injuries. Now if you are saying you prefer when the Bills fly under the radar and could live without the crazy hype. Well, me too. But that's the price of dealing with success in the NFL.

Poor year to get the Sunday ticket lol

For sure. But if I only use it for 5-6 games, it pays for itself compared to bar booze and food costs. Plus don't have to venture out so can just lie around in my underwear.  Hard to put a price on that for me.

  17. 6 minutes ago, Warcodered said:

It kind of is on Thanksgiving.

"Nationally Televised" is the metric I look for. I have to decide whether to get the Sunday Ticket again, this year.  Looking at the schedule and the calendar, I may not get as few as 4 games on local TV. But then again it could be 6-7.   I'll probably get it just so I have it covered. But seems like it might be aun unnecessary expense, this year.
