The rise of the machines.
I love that they put the blame on the kid, for moving his hand too quickly. I guess the First Law of Robotics doesn't apply to chess robots.

Nice piece, but it's from June 6th. That's forever ago on this forum. But in your defense I expected it to be an actual thread topic.

I called them today. I'm already getting $50 off a month for 12 months due to me threatening to go to dish. Today, the loyalty rep told me the standard NFL ticket was I believe $293. She said I could pay that in 4 monthly installments and she would take additional $20 a month off my bill for 12 months. Thus, off setting most of the NFL ticket price. I refused the offer and politely asked if I was under contract. I knew I wasn't. She said no I wasn't and I replied ok I'm going to look at my choices. Thank you. She responded by giving me the $20 off for 12 months with no NFL ticket. Good and bad I guess.
Maybe I'll just have to go to the bar to watch the Bills games. Good thing is they have 4 or 5 nationally televised games.
Any advice? Maybe try again in a few weeks? I doubt I will get it now. Maybe a couple of weeks into the season?
I believe they have 6 "stand alone" nationally televised games. They are likely to have 2-3 Sunday late afternoon games that a good part of the country will get.
I'm in the same boat. Trying to figure out if the Ticket is worth it, this year.

Yya damn right it did, If you want a forum with zero content then you are climbing the right tree. No hard feelings bro, but what the hell else is there to talk about? Go Bills
Were you a mod on the Bills forum back in the day? I think you put me in jail for a week. Here i go again!
This reminds me of a street punk talking to a cop while being arrested for disturbing the peace. "Ain't you the copper who arrested me for robbing that liquor store last year? I did jail time for that."
And a post in an existing thread is every bit as much "content" as a post starting a new thread. As you might imagine there are many threads covering this same topic were your post could have/should have gone.
This thread is far more litter, than content, IMO.

Cheap Trick is always a fun show, I've seen them a bunch of times.
I was on a work assignment close to Louisville in the late 80's and checked out Rod there for something to do. Good show, but the best part was the crowd, at least 75% women, most all dressed to kill for better or worse. Most unlike a Steely Dan sausage-fest.
Oddly this summer in Atlanta there were a large number of younger people in the crowd. Among them some smoking hot younger women. First time I've seen that at a Dan concert.

And you and Jay here now? This is like a 25-year reunion thread.
Was thinking, too, when I saw The Dean's reply, "How many of us remember the old times, with Dean's drinkling (side note, Hi, Love Corn!), Rosen's panda fetish, and Ann's House of Pain?"
The "good old days".

I received an email yesterday that says my NFL Ticket Subscription (streaming) will auto renew on September 10th. Decisions decisions.

6-0. Jets, Dolphins, Pats.
Duh. What the hell was I thinking
Yes, 6-0 best case. 4-2 worst case

I'm thinking the Bills best case for the AFC East is 8-0
The worst case is probably 2-6 or maybe 3-5. But I don't see that happening this year, without serious injury issues.

I saw that earlier and got a good belly laugh out ot it. Hey, why the hell not? For both player and team. Go crazy!

Maybe I should have posted this here. Maybe I shouldn't have posted it at all. Hard to know.

This is a reference to the beers that were discontinued, which I was surprised that were sold in Canada. That's all.

I thought you might be sorry for Josh Rosen as he signed with the Browns. But then again, you would probably laugh and know they deserve each other.

Depends on where you go. When I go for Alexander Keiths, I always go to the Duty Free, and my case is $20 US. Most Canadian beers at the Duty Free are around the same price, $20 to $30 US for a case. And yes I put the Fort Erie Duty Free address as my quarantine place on the ArriveCAN app.
Yes, Duty Free can be much more reasonable. I still wouldn't want to pay $20-$30 for Steel Reserve.

Exactly. It is two teammates saying Garrett is a good dude and they have no reason to doubt him. It is not two teammates saying "there was a slur I heard it too."
I'm thinking they believe he thinks he heard a slur. And maybe he did. But it's also very possible he mis-heard something. Loud, bodies all over the place. It's also possible he's simply lying. It's also possible Rudolph indeed used a racial slur. Seems unlikely to me that, in the middle of a football field, with many African Americans around him (including those on his own team) he'd choose to use a slur. But I suppose it is possible.
My point is, people often hear things incorrectly---not what the other person said/meant. Physical violence should almost never be one's first reaction to a verbal comment.

Molson Coors Discontinues 11 Beers Including Keystone Ice and Milwaukee's Best Premium
- Hamm's Special Light
- Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve
- Icehouse Edge
- Keystone Light Keylightful
- Keystone Ice
- Magnum
- Mickey's Fine Malt Liquor Ice
- Miller High Life Light
- Milwaukee's Best Premium
- Olde English High Gravity 800
- Steel Reserve 211
No not on any list. Still listed among their (I assume) active products:

But just try finding it at a Beer Store! For a few years we thought it was discontinued because the beer stores on the way to our cottage never seemed to have it. But it made a reappearance for awhile. Haven't been back since Covid, but a year or two before, when we went to one of the Beer Stores the woman told us, "Only Americans ask for that." The Budweiser/Coors takeover of Canada is extremely sad.

To your first point. I can't say he had anyone graded higher, although he probably had others in the same ranked grouping. He may very well have had a player 'graded' slightly higher but was in the same grouping and in a deeper position so he picked Cook. There's too many factors the we don't know to come to that conclusion. However, I think it's far to say that he could have.
I do believe the Bills would've drafted a QB if one of them dropped far enough. They aren't going to reach for a QB but they would be stupid not to draft one because they have Allen. Having a highly touted backup to the most important position on the field, that in no way threatens his standing with the team, is cost controlled for 4 years, and you can potentially trade for picks if he fills in and balls out is not a bad thing.
(This thread has diverged to the concern of of outside WR depth, why not have the same concern for QB)
Although your point about how the board is built is interesting. I understand ranking players based off of cumulative input from everyone involved, however you're talking about absolute rankings (i.e. player A is ranked higher than player B, so we'll always draft player A regardless of position). Whereas I believe there's a spectrum (players A,B,C, and D are all grouped together, so even though they play different positions they're all viable options).
I do understand where you're coming from in regards to player grades and evaluations, I just disagree that the absolute nature you're suggesting, is how things go when the team is on the clock.
(Even drafting Rousseau in the first they knew Hughes, and Addison were likely on their last legs. Therefore a DE was still a need, hence Basham)
2 hours ago, Hermes said:I get Pickens, but Moore projects more as a slot receiver if I'm not mistaken. So had we drafted him Kumerow still would've been the defacto WR3 (which is hilarious)
Do you think Pickens will have more total yards and tds than Cook this year? That's the big question.
Fair enough. But maybe Beane didn't think anyone available when they selected was likely to be the #1 backup at outside WR as a rookie. IMO McDermott is more likely to go to someone who's been around for awhile, or at least is a proven pro, if he needs to make a mid-season change. That seems to be their MO. So I could see Hodgins be the guy for example. But I also don't think them picking up a veteran WR before the season starts is out of the question. I'd say the same thing about CB. So far they've been VERY good at this. I won't start doubting or second guessing them now, given their results to date.
I think once they get going in training camp, they'll get a handle on what they need.
