1. 2. Bledsoe -  everyone was loving that move, don't say you were'nt one of them. The whole damn town came out to welcome him. NOBODY saw his crappy play coming - except Billichik..

    120135

Actually, I advocted taking Blake and drafting a QB that year. I was scared of Bledsoe's 8 zillion dollar contract and his age.

    not EVERYONE wanted Bledsoe.

  2. I can't understand how there are still people here who support Tom Donohoe's decision making.

let's take a look a this more spectacular blunders:

    1) Gregg Williams. In a move that set this team back a decade, Donohoe hired Gregg Williams.

    2) Drew Bledsoe. Almost as ridiculous as hiring Gregg Williams, Donohoe brought in Drew Bledsoe and his 100 million dollar contract. Genius, I say, genius!

    3) Mike Williams. Overweight, out of shape and lacking in talent, Mike Williams was drafted over a far more talented and TRUE LT, Bryant McKinnie.

    4) Ryan Denney. Need I say more?

    5) Jeff Posey. The guy's a scrub.

OK. There's five critical mistakes in judgement. Can the TD backers out there please explain to me how we can recover from this short of firing Donohoe?

  3. If the coaches and TD came out and said what you purportedly want them to say, "We realize we probably won't win with Drew, but Shane Matthews is just Drew without the deep ball, and the Kid isn't ready yet," it would be a public relations TRAIN WRECK.  Don't hit the panic button - relax.  THEY KNOW.

    119644

Then how hard would it be for them to SAY SO?

Damn Troy Vincent. Had to be a hot dog in practice.

hey Troy.... :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:

  4. I'm sorry, but some of you are just being ridiculous.  There is no one, NO ONE, the coaches, GM and owner included, who still think Drew Bledsoe "has it."  I guarantee you, people, THEY KNOW.  Donahoe knows.  Mularkey knows.  Those two knew last year, because they (1) drafted his replacement in the first round, and (2) demanded he take a pay cut.  Now, it's not their fault that a fluke injury set back JP's timetable, but those are the cards we've been dealt - it happens.  Had Troy Vincent's sole contribution to our season not been to f' up our prize rookie (fitting, btw, given our D's over-agressiveness, lack of discipline and control - simply, their stupidity), I'm all but certain JP would have started the second half of the Ravens game and every other game since.

HOWEVER, at this point, there is nothing worse that MM could do than panic and put JP into a situation in which he's not ready, and which the odds of him failing are significant.  If you look back at the history of rookie QBs, the number one source of their long-term failure has been situations where they were put in before they were ready.  It's killer - it can wreck their confidence and derail their entire career.  Who knows at what point Bledsoe "jumped the shark" and developed happy feet - it may have happened in New England, it may have been last year's game in Miami - but God forbid that happen to Losman at this stage in his career.  Look, the season is over.  Losman will start the last 3-4 games, guaranteed, and it likely won't be pretty to watch.  There is NO POINT, after one week of practice and 4 plays, for this coaching staff to annoint him the Savior of the Season, which would almost guarantee his failure.  No point.  You people need to understand that - I want to win now as much as any of you, but the long-term health of this franchise suggests some patience.

    119605

That does not preclude starting Shane MAtthews until Losman is ready. Bledsoe is done.

  5. again, let's see how Losman does after 7 starts.

    A few key differences:

    - Roethlisberger is HUGE, JP looks a bit frail.

    - Poise....looks like Ben's got it, where JP well...he looks a bit skittish (understandable behind this line)

Dunno. Already I'm feeling a bit uneasy about our future.

  6. A real NFL QB and a FS would do.

Don't have to be a miracle players, just moderately competent.

    118427

You said the players were alredy on the roster. I assume you're atalking about Vincent and Losman, but that doesn't exactly inspire all tha much confidence, IMO.

  7. The only way we would be starting from scratch and waiting another 2-3 years is if we were to fire Donahoe.

I think you'd be surprised at the difference a real NFL QB and a FS would make on this team. I believe we're about two players away from being a postseason contender, and they may both already be on the roster.

OK, you've piqued my interest. Who are these miracle players that will turn one of if not the worst team in all the NFL into playoff contenders?

  8. I agree.  RJ at least put us in a position to win a road game once in a while.  2001 was an all-around disaster (no different than 2003 or 2004 mind you) but in 2000 he played really well vs. the Chiefs, Bucs & Jets all on the road.  We lost most of those games because our special teams were a joke; but if RJ had the same special teams Drew currently has, I honestly think he'd give us a better chance to win.  They both are dumb as rocks with good arms and take too many sacks; at least RJ could run once in a while and didn't throw as many picks.

    118319

Never in all my life did I think I'd see something like this.

  9. They own us right now, just like we owned them for a good periiod of time in te late 80's/early 90's.

Bills took a chance on Drew, it started well, Drew is a class act but it just hasnt worked out.  Pats fans still seem to still like to $ati$fy themselves by mentioning Drew's shortcomings, acting as if Buffalo fans still think he is an elite QB.

    117939

No, they're just laughing about how our second class GM got SCHOOLED by Belichick.

  10. Oh! you think they can win forever?

    117907

    Sure looks like it.

What is it now 24 of 25? Unreal.

What's our win total over the last 25 games?

    How about the last 50?

Come to think of it...when was our last winning season?

It's getting to be THAT LONG AGO.

  11. is more likely than the best case scenario.

first of all, that was the single most pathetic and embarrassing performance by a QB I've ever seen, including anything in the Ryan Leaf anthology.

Drew MUST be benched. He must also be told that this is his last season on the Bills payroll. It needs to happen. This wretched era of underachieving must end. He's the lead engineer of the state of this team, and the person who assembled the team must be held accountable as well. If, in your 4th year of rebuilding, you still don't have an offensive line that knows how to make holes for a running back, I question your abilities. If you continue to start a washed up QB who hamstrings your team because you think he's a stand-up guy, I question your intentions as well as your wisdom.

The worst case scenario is they keep starting Bledsoe, and continue to put JP LOsman in unwinnable situations, which destroys his confidence and chemistry with the team.

That was the worst-schemed performance, worst coached game, worst blocked game, worsed quarterbacked game, and worst defensed game I've watched in years. The only thing that kept us in the game was Bobby April and Brian Moorman.

I think that Moorman is our team MVP, and as a punter, this is a perfect statement for the team.

Guess what, folks...our problems last year...they're weren't on williams' and gilbride's head. It starts with Bledsoe, and the blocking unit that DOnahoe built is next in line.

    117899

And yet when I criticize TD, I get crucified around here. I just don't get it. How many years of abject failure are Bills fans willing to talerate before they understand what a miserable excuse of a GM TD is?

I admit, I too was fooled when we brought him in. I thought no one could be worse than John Butler.

I was wrong. I like WM. I like Fletch and Spikes. I like Moorman and MCGee, but beyond that there hasn't been much in the way of good stuff at OBD> Poor coaching choices, lousy QB play, no line improvement.... Ugh.

  12. Wasn't TD there the last time they went to a SB ?  What have they done the previous 7 years, other than disappoint ?

I give them their props for 2004. But this constant search for a comparison ( Why isn't Coughlin,Parcells,Fox etc. being metioned now ? Losing perhaps ?) means little.

    117864

Yes. Fox is hardly a fair comparison. Guy's whole team was lost to Injury.

Parcells? Come on now, man, he's only one of the top 10 coaches of all time.

Coughlin; OK, maybe it was a bit early to jump on his bandwagon, but he's still doing more with less in new york.
