  1. The thing is, with the 8th pick, with the exception of D'Brick, I don't think there is any OL prospect worth that spot... So what do you do? We are not going to find our interior O-lineman at 8... and it is my humble opinion that with Peters/Gandy/FA we should be fine at the 2 OT spots... so again what do you do at 8? It is my belief that if you have a top 10 pick, you go for the BPA. If this BPA happens to be a need position, fine... So, with our first pick, you get your top rank player overall, be it Davis, Huff, Ngata or whatever... if there is a blue-chipper, once-in-a-decade, can't-miss player, you take him! Then, with our 2nd & 2 3rd rounders you go for these interior O-lineman that we need (there should be a few available : Mangold, Joseph, Jean-Giles, etc...) And of course, there is always FA...
  2. Welcome to the fatherood club buddy! Congratulations to you & your wife!
  3. My take is that if you pick in the top 10, you go BPA... more so if the aformentioned BPA is looked upon as a blue-chip, can't-miss, freakish-type, once-in-a-decade, type of player... Now, if the BPA turns out to be at a need position, fine... But you still go BPA if you have a top 10 pick... after the 10th pick, then need might factor in a little more...
  4. NFLPA & the NFL owners are meeting face-to-face today in New York, and it seems that we may see an agreement on a new labor deal... (Mort said : fairly optimistic...)
  5. This brings up this question : Does Moulds want to stay a Bill? IMHO, this is the real question...
  6. Great interviews! D. Jauron seems to be, at least to me, a no-nonsense kind of guy! Really down to earth person... Very straight-forward! I like that in a coach... As for Marv, well he hasn't change one bit! As he continues to get more accustomed to his GM position, it will become really difficult to know what exactly his plans might be... This guy is a master orator, so he will be able to tell stories and lead people to something, while in reality he will be going for something else... This will be fun to watch!
  7. I don't know if he wants to coach or if he is even good at it, but I would really like to see Chris Spielman as our LBs coach!
  8. You maybe right, but imho, it's a little bit more like that : Post #599 by JDG "I think that you are on the right track, but looking at it from the wrong angle. I don't think that #1 problem with Sherman is that his prior GM experience would make him a competitor with Marv Levy for control and leadership in the organization. Rather, I think it is important to note that successful NFL organizations have a GM and a Coach who are "on the same page." Marv Levy clearly built up a comfort-level with Jauron in Chicago, and as two former Ivy-Leaguers in the NFL, their affinity for each other is probably natural. Thus, I think that Jauron and Levy are just simply more likely to share a common outlook on football decisions, and to see things in similar ways. Levy and Wilson have talked from the very beginning about wanting to operate on a "consensus" basis - and while I think that is partly platitiude, there is a little bit of truth to it, and it is simply going to be the case that consensus will be far more likely among two people who will be sharing a same basic outlook. I think that is the sort of thing that many message board posters miss when they put together "all star coaching teams" - like so many we saw on TBD this week. NFL Coaching Staffs are a *team*, and that concept can be extended to an entire NFL Organization, particularly when it comes to a GM and a Head Coach. Thus, (and I'm not speaking directly to you here, Nick - I don't recall what you thought of this decision) you can't have been ecstatic about having Marv come back as a GM, but then be despondent about Jauron. Getting Marv as a GM means getting a "Marv guy" as a Coach - and Jauron is no doubt the most prominent "Marv guy" available. If it was up to me, I probably would have hired Caldwell (not having sat in the interviews, and knowing only a few details about the candidates.) With that being said, I'm willing to give Jauron the benefit of the doubt. In general, I'm much more impressed by someone who made success out of nothing (Jauron going 13-3 with a talent-starved roster), then someone who had decent perennial success with talent in abundance. JDG" But, who knows? Only time will tell!
  9. Marv Levy is building a TEAM, not just bringing in stars individuals... He was very explicit about this in his PC. DJ was probably the guy who best fits with what Marv wants to build... Will it work? Who knows! Let's just give it a try!
  10. Watch for Ricky & Ronnie to run all day at the middle of our line!
  11. ... about Caldwell being interviewed right now? Found this info on 2 other boards...
  12. All that stuff brings a question : do we have to wait another 11 days before any annoucement about the coaching staff? Coaching staff supposedly is on an 11-days vacation... With WIVB backing on their news about the defensive coaches being fired, I'm wondering if we will have to wait another 11 days before anything else happens?
  13. This guy might be Marc Ross. He is already in the Bills organisation as the National College Scout. He used to work for the Eagles and was hired by the Bills like a year ago, under Tom Modrak recommandation. He is well regarded around the NFL as a potential future GM... So he might the guy!
  14. We might want to add Marc Ross to that front office!
  15. Imho, JP is victim to the "Rudy syndrome"! All we heard through training camp (and even before that!) is that he was in B-lo, studying and working at getting better. He worked at being a leader by working harder than anyone else! Imho, some players were frustrated at him for working so hard! Just like Rudy! Then came the season, 1st half of 1st game, excellent game plan! Wow JP is on fire! 2nd half of 1st game, no adjustments made by MM & co... that's where it all went down... After that you could see that JP wasn't placed in position to be successful, not enough runs, too much pass, too much thinking... Is he at fault? Sure enough! Is he the only one at fault, certainly not! Let JP be who he is, a very hard working, self-confident QB!
  16. Alisha Cuthbert, a.k.a. Kim Bauer (24 Hrs)! She is a hottie!
  17. I would restructure Williams and move him @ DT besides big Sam Adams!
  18. One thing about MM is that he seems to have change a lot since last year.... It seems that this year he is going with the company line and not thinking much by himself... He is not the same person that he was when he arrived last year! Last year, he looked like a leader, this year, he seems to have lost something... what is it? Anyway, IMHO, this year is simply one of those years when everything that can go wrong, will go wrong! Have a wonderful day!
