  1. A world of indifference, heads and hearts too full Careless of the consequence of constant push and pull Anger got bare knuckles, anger play the fool Anger wear a crown of thorns, reverse the golden rule Then you learn the lesson that it's tough to be so cool Handle with kid gloves, handle with kid gloves Then you learn the weapons and the ways of hard-knock school Put on your kid gloves, put on your kid gloves Then you learn the lesson that it's tough to be so cool
  2. All the counselors hate the waiters And the lake has alligators And the head coach wants no sissies So he reads to us from something called 'Ulysses' No, I don't want this should scare ya But my bunkmate has malaria You remember Jeffrey Hardy They're about to organize a searching party
  3. Here's a little trap That sometimes catches everyone When today's as far as we can see Faith in bright tomorrows Giving way to resignation That's how it is, how it's going to be It's such a cloudy day Seems we'll never see the sun Feel the day has possibilities Frozen in the moment The lack of imagination Between how it is and how it ought to be Between how it is and how it ought to be
  4. I'm just sittin' here watchin' the wheels go 'round and 'round I really love to watch them roll No longer ridin' on the merry-go-round I just had to let it go
  5. I enjoyed it very much. My only complaint (and it’s nitpicking for sure) is that King doesn’t quite have a great grasp of current teenagers and it sometimes felt like main character could have been a kid from the ‘50s or ‘60s with the way he talked and acted.
  6. I can burn right through those suckers!
  7. I'm a pretty big reader, tend to jump around across genres and physical vs Kindle books. Last physical books finished were Geddy Lee's "My Effin Life" (highest possible recommendation!) and Stephen King's "Fairy Tale" (also very good). On the Kindle, currently reading "An Absolutely Remarkable Thing" by Hank Green. Just started it, but feels like I'll enjoy it. Recently finished "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer" by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin, "Hail Mary Project" by Andy Weir, and "The Troop" by Nick Cutter. Like I said...jump around across genres.
  8. I’m a little bit country And I’m a little bit rock 'n roll I’m a little bit of Memphis and Nashville With a little bit of Motown in my soul I don’t know if it’s good or bad But I know I love it so I’m a little bit country And I’m a little bit rock n roll
  9. You better make your face up with your favorite disguise With your button down lips and your roller blind eyes With your empty smile and your hungry heart Feel the bile rising from your guilty past With your nerves in tatters as the cockleshell shatters And the hammers batter down your door You better run!
  10. Subdivisions In the high school halls In the shopping malls Conform or be cast out Subdivisions In the basement bars In the backs of cars Be cool or be cast out
  11. Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer Well, can you put your hands in your head? Oh no! I said, dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer Well, can you put your hands in your head? Oh no!
  12. Down in the crowded bars Out for a good time Can't wait to tell you all What it's like up there And they called it paradise I don't know why Somebody laid the mountains low While the town got high
  13. They put a parking lot on a piece of land Where the supermarket used to stand Before that they put up a bowling alley On the site that used to be the local palais That's where the big bands used to come and play My sister went there on a Saturday Come dancing All her boyfriends used to come and call Why not come dancing? It's only natural
  14. The Audacy app is my path into WGR, so I appreciate it overall...but man do I hope the new owners put their foot down on terrible ads. If I hear that "not to loooonnnggg if you think abooouutt iiiiit" zen den drone or the overly frantic "NOT MATTER HOW MUCH DUCT TAPE YOU UUUSSSSEE" kid one more time, I'll drown a puppy. [editor's note - I will not drown a puppy]

  17. I'm guessing the 70,040 is tickets sold, not actual attendance.
  18. Win or lose, one thing is irrefutable- watching NFL games is painful with all commercial breaks.
  19. Never a doubt, right? RIGHT???
  20. This is me right now… Bills win, get #2 seed and are an unstoppable force to the SB Bills lose, and this season is an abject failure the like that this 60 yo fan has never seen. Both are perfectly legit thoughts occupying my brain right now. I love/loath being a Bills fan.
  21. Well baby, there you stand With your little head down in your hand Oh my God, you can't believe it's happening again Your baby's gone and you're all alone And it looks like the end Back out on the street And you're trying to remember, oh How do you start it over You don't know if you can You don't care much for a stranger's touch But you can't hold your man You never thought you'd be alone This far down the line But I know what's been on your mind You're afraid it's all been wasted time
  22. I soon as I saw the Bears-Falcons game was a CBS game, I knew that was the one we'd get here. Ah well, that just bites.
  23. What I remember most was all of the old COBOL programmers who made an f'ing mint in the months leading up to this non-event.
  24. I'm running here I'm running there I'm looking for a girl Cause there's nothing I need There's nothing I want more In the whole wide world Well, I need it quick And I need it now Before I start to fade away That's why I'm searching That's why I'm looking Each and every day Oh, I need some love I said I need some love! Oh yes, I need some love This feeling I can't rise above Yeah, yeah
  25. Good god…if this is what “commercial free fourth quarter” means, bring back the commercials
