  1. Recent updates to the blog are frightening.
  2. I am all for it but it appears too sensible.
  3. WWLTV blog For those wanting to know more. It is the CBS affiliate.
  4. I am in your area and we just came back from France & Italy through Dulles (IAD). I checked RIC, IAD, DCA, PHF, and BWI and the best overall cost/efficiency was through IAD. But, as one previous poster mentioned, it depends on your final destination. I could have paid nearly the same to fly out of RIC but I would have had one more stop in the US (because no direct from RIC) with another stop in Paris, Milan, London or Amsterdam before our final destination. Dulles was direct to CDG and had a much shorter total travel time because no extra stop and even figuring in the 2 hour trip to IAD. And long-term parking is cheaper at IAD than RIC. But now, the price of gas adds another factor, besides time, into the equation. You might try Sidestep, Mobissimo, etc., where you can quickly switch or expand airport departure/arrival locations.
  5. First, all my hope and prayers go to the folks affected by Katrina. I no longer live in WNY not because I do not like snow - I ski whenever I have the chance. But I do not like snow (or cold) 4-5 months a year. I live in central VA and we have had bouts with hurricanes, tornados, and ice storms, but fortunately, where we live it has only resulted in minor inconveniences. For us, trading these potential risks against the guarantee of 4-5 months of cold & snow every year was a relatively easy decision to make.
  6. Great stuff Mark, thanks. Your report on TD made me recall about three years ago when I had an opportunity to speak with him one-on-one at training camp. He was all public relations but his piercing blue eyes look right through you. Though our conversation was brief, he made quite an impression on me.
  7. I think MM is not as willing to utilize this position as his predecessor. I apologize but it was a tough read. In another life I was an editor.
  8. We returned a few days ago from another great vacation. We went to Corsica for 10 days and the views, beaches, hikes, food, etc. were outstanding. It is an out-of-the way place and not your typical tourist destination - we only saw one American while we were there. We stayed in Tiuccia which is away from everything but the beach. We return every year because we have family there. If you can converse in French or Italian, it is much easier to visit but the more intrepid souls will enjoy even if you are unable to speak either of these languages.
  9. Mark, Congrats on the new addition to your family! Tony
  10. Maybe it is the fried cow brain sandwiches.
  11. Hate is a strong word. Have you had the opportunity to know any people from France? Have you spent any time there? Have you purchased Michelin tires? Do you own any RCA or GE consumer electronics (under Tompson SA of France). I could list many more. I am in Corsica right now staying with some of my extended family on vacation. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to meet and speak with quite a number of very personable, engaging, and thoughtful citizens of the island and mainland. Certainly there are jerks in any nation but it might be short-sighted to make a gross generalization such as you have. Certainly, I disagree with some of the French political views but that is also true for my homeland, the USA. However, applying deductive reasoning that hate equates to a disagreement with someone or some political view seems a bit unusual.
  12. Thanks for thinking about me guys but I am in Corsica for a couple of weeks and will have to follow through updates in the Chat Room.

  14. Rich - thanks, we're OK. Just took a new job and built a house. Lots of other crap to do right now. But I will be at the Falcon game and one or two others. I will miss the opening bash and seeing everyone. Our best to you & the Mrs. (PsychoWard).
  15. Jerry O is in an article "The Push to Turn Men Into Appliance Shoppers" in the Wall Street Journal section D in the July 14 edition. The public link is not available yet so I will just post the text. There is not too much to it. "Retired pro-football player Jerry Ostroski recently splurged on a hulking piece of steel equipment that he's been showing to his buddies on weekends. A new workout machine? The latest All-Terrain vehicle? Actually, a giant freezer/refrigerator, Whirlpool Corp.'s "Freezerator", at $1,099, comes with rugged tread-like pattern on the steel." . . . "Mr. Ostroski, who played for the Buffalo Bills and now lives in Tulsa, Okla., says he'd never thought much about refrigerators until he saw the "Freezerator", which is part of Whirlpool's Gladiator GarageWork's line, on a TV segment about two months ago. "I thought it was awesome - there's nothing feminine about it," says Mr. Ostroski, who adds that he had always let his wife pick their appliances. He installed the Freezerator in a part of his garage where he hangs out with his friends to watch TV, drink beer and play videogames." There was no picture of Jerry O with the article. It's a great fridge/freezer along with the Frigidaire Beverage Center (holds 16-gallon keg & spigot on front, $899) and the Heartland Ten50 fridge (black doors with Harley flames, chrome detailing, & motorcyle handlebar style handles, $6,000).

  17. Tough stuff - I hope the comp, bennies, or $ are worth it...that is exactly why I got out of IT. I have to work extra hours, too, but fortunately, it is on my own schedule. I have been through those 24 hr. binges and what not when I was in IT. But I have a family and a real life and did not want my reflections years later to be: Remember when we worked all those hours on the XXX project(s)... I had the opportunity to get out of IT but now I am empathatic when working with them on project timelines, implementation, support, etc.
  18. Hey, hey...received my e-mail, too. I will only be able to fly up for 1-2 games this year so look for my posting on the Trading Post selling some good seat tickets.

  20. Sure, how much you want? We make that stuff.

  22. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. It's what you learn after you know it all that counts. Never mistake activity for achievement. Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability. Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. Adversity is the state in which man mostly easily becomes acquainted with himself, being especially free of admirers then. Ability is a poor man's wealth. It's the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen. Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there. If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over? If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. Do you have a feed to the Anthony Robbins and Deepak Chopra sites? FYI - Maybe I am a bit cynical but too much of this becomes tiresome rather than revealing and falls on deaf ears.
  23. Well, you are really throwing it now. First, it's Nietzsche. Secondly, Friedrich died in 1900 and the first snowmobile was built around 1935.
  24. Formerly from WNY, I live in central VA and have been a season ticket holder (2 tix) for several years. I go to about 4-5 home games a year. We usually make an event of it when we choose to go and, being a season ticket holder, I will buy several extra tickets for specific games. We eat out, stay at hotels, etc., so we are doing our part in contributing to the WNY economy.
