  1. Talk in New York is a possible firing of Tom Coughlin but theres a more likely chance that Perry Fewell will likely take the fall. This makes me wonder if you would want him back as DC? I say YES! Look at his defenses.... Nothing spectacular but decent and his talent level is either less or equal to this teams.... And we all know we good this team is. It appeared the Perry did not leave on bad terms with Ralph, and Ralph would be way more comfortable hiring someone who he already knows. Chances are that Perry will not likely find another NFL team to coach as DC so I think this I've could be a win-win for all involved.
  2. Give people a break. You have to realize most come in here to vent after a tough loss. This team is extremely disappointing, considering they'll likely lose the final nine games of the year. Don't fault someone for being disappointed and talking badly about this team -- it's well-deserved and within our rights to
  3. His problem is that he does want to win, but he is too old and senile to step out of his comfort zone and part with two things he cares the most about when it comes to the Bills -- MONEY and CONTROL. He got burned once with Donahoe and he hasn't reached outside of the organization. Ralph just doesn't understand what it takes to win in the NFL in 2011.
  4. I am no Ralph fan...I will say that he does deserve a certain amount of respect for being one of the founding members of the AFL and for not pulling an "Art Modell." and staying in Buffalo. But aside from striking GOLD by hiring Bill Polian, Ralph has really hurt this franchise. Over the past 12 years you might say that there is not an NFL owner worse than Ralph....not even Al Davis. This is sad.
  5. No offense I really don't agree with this at all and I don't agree with you criticizing the good people of this board. They are venting not "pissing and moaning" like you suggest. Sorry but we all don't have the patience to wait 2 decades to be competitive like you. So I am going to translate what you said, people I feel you are being extremely unrealistic: "We WILL be better next year." Translation: We will be 6-10, instead of 5-11 "They are getting this thing going in the right direction at least." Translation: We will make the playoffs by 2021...be patient "It's really not as bad as you guys make it out to be.". Translation: It's no so bad, we could lose 10 games in a row instead of 9. "Everyone just wants to cry about Ralph." Translation: People are holding the owner of a franchise accountable for the horrendous decisions he's made as owner of the team. "When Kyle and Merriman went down our defense changed dramatically." Translation: We gave up 400 yards a game, instead of the usual 500 "It takes time people." Translation: We've only been rebuilding for 12 years Just enjoy football, watch our young guys develop, and hope we can have a good off-season Translation: Pretend to enjoy losing. At least we're losing by fewer point this year -- progress.
  6. If we had a REAL owner....yes a 9 game losing streak shows that there is something very wrong with the system and he would clean house. As evidenced in the past, there's even a chance that George Edwards will be our DC next year....sad
  7. Stevie and the Bills deserve to be goofed on. Good for Santonio
  8. Keep in mind the same people who were saying "Patience People Patience" were around when Dick Jauron was coach. Remember back in 2006 "Patience people this is JP's first year as a starter" or "Patience people we're switching to a 4-3 defense" or "Patience people Trent Edwards is the quarterback of the future." Every is justified for being upset and disappointed with this team. The people of Western, NY deserve better than the lame product on the field for the past 12 years. I say that we are 110% entitled to "piss and moan" like the OP said. Do us a favor, stop with the threads criticizing fans for complaining. Why should anyone have faith or "patience" in Ralph Wilson and the people he puts in charge to run this team? "Patience people, patience -- it will take 12 more years to make it to the playoffs" What a joke
  9. Bob Matthews is an old grouchy writer from Rochester, NY but in his column in the D and C a few days ago he RIPS Ralph Wilson and says that Bills fans aren't to blame for team blackout. This is a great article: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20111204/SPORTS0101/112040356/Buffalo-Bills-blackout-fans?odyssey=mod|mostview Buffalo Bills' fans not to blame for blackout The good and the bad about today's western New York TV blackout of the Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills game: I'd like to point out that NFL fans will get to see a better game on CBS, but the New York Jets at Washington is no bargain. Buffalo home games Dec. 18 (vs. Miami) and Dec. 24 (vs. Denver) also figure to be blacked out. Maybe fans in WNY will be offered better matchups than the Jets vs. the Redskins. ...[Ed: Copyright -- Do not quote entire articles]
  10. This is cute... or you could look at the records of the Bills from the past six years: 2002 8-8 2003 6-10 2004 9-7 2005 5-11 2006 7-9 2007 7-9 2008 7-9 2009 6-10 2010 4-12 2011 5-11 (likely) I guess history CAN repeat itself!
  11. The complaining about Maybin is all in hindsight. At the time when they released him, no Bills fans thought "maybe they gave up on him to soon." We all said good riddance because we saw how bad he was with us. I do think that his success in New York can be attributed to A.) Good players around him and B.) increased motivation. He didn't have either in Buffalo
  12. It's all speculation of course....but I have seen nothing to suggest that Edwards is NOT safe, aside from an attrocious defense
  13. Tried to see if any media outlets were reporting a potential firing of Chan Gailey and George Edwards. This writer from The Bleacher Report, claims that all Bills coaches are safe due to the teams' lack of talent. I have to say that I disagree that Edwards is safe after this monumental fall. We need to Buffalo media to start the discussion of firing Edwards. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/961344-hot-seat-alert-for-every-nfl-coach-and-coordinator-through-week-12/page/2#/articles/961344-hot-seat-alert-for-every-nfl-coach-and-coordinator-through-week-12/page/2
  14. Oh man....this is depressing but you may be right. There's a few other teams with issues: Indianapolis, Minnesota, Washington, Kansas City, Cleveland. I really think Buffalo has a TON of needs, but if we could improve the defense next year that would be a huge step.
  15. This is extremely debatable. I think it's easier in hindsight to say this, but the defense actually gave up more yards with him starting. I don't recall anyone saying that Merrimen was an important part of the defense when he was active. He was regarded as "the invisible man." When he was playing Merrimen has hardly any impact rushing the passer.
  16. You have a point here - Chan was here because, much like Al Davis, no other coach wanted to work for Ralph Wilson. He has a reputation of being a difficult owner to work/coach for who meddles into the day-to-day affairs. That reputation was always there but it got bad after Wade Phillip's experience in Buffalo and worse after Tom Donahoe's. Aside from this since the Tom Donahoe experience, Ralph is hesitant to give control and a huge chunk of money to an outsider to run this team. Why do you think we've never had a Bill Parcells, Mike Holmgrem, or anyone else run this team? It's because they don't want to work for Ralph and also because Ralph won't surrender the money and control necessary. Ever since Donahoe, Ralph has only hired people already associated with this organization - Marv Levy and Buddy Nix (who was promoted from a scout position).
  17. I would like to see Jack Del Rio. Sounds like he was a train wreck as HC, but the guy has always coached a tough team and had pretty good defenses.
  18. In 3 years?????? Come on man. Talent is a part of the problem - but I'm not sure if Chan Gailey and George Edwards are the right people to get the most out of this "talent." You thinking is very optimistic, but a tad unreasonable.
  19. We might not even win a playoff game until we have a new owner!
  20. Buffalo Bills Report Card Nothing earth shattering, but here is the Democrat and Chronicle's report card for the Bills game vs. Tennessee. Sal and Leo are notoriously negative about this franchise but given the way that the season played out, those two were likely being more realistic than pessimistic. Interestingly enough, the article notes that "Gailey’s coaching seat is officially hot."
  21. First off Rogers is the best QB in the league and Manning might be Top 5. As good as they are, you don't need a top 5 QB to win the NFL. You do need a good QB (which is what we have in Fitz), some good teammates, and good coaching. I'd like to think we will legitimately address the other two parts in the offseason. Our LB's and DL is more of a concern than QB at this time
  22. If you look at the needs of this team, Fitz at QB is actually a very LOW priority. Knowing this team's draft history it would not surprise me to see them select a QB in the 1st, only to ignore the needs of the rest of the team.
  23. Heck....this even goes back to the Dan Henning led-offense. He was an awful OC in Buffalo that got the axe, but he then went onto to coach the Pathers in a Super Bowl that almost beat New England and he was the architect of the Wildcat for Miami a few years back.
  24. I am very concerned about Fitz' inaccuracy but what about the notion of getting better offensive linemen who can actually establish a passing pocket and can open up holes for Fred and CJ? This of course would mean, we will need to resign both players and I am pretty sure we will. Imagine if we became primarily a run oriented team that could trow Fitz' short passes and chew up TOP. This would help keep our porous defense off the field. At this point our OL doesn't knock anyone off the ball, so our running game often gets ditched. I don't think it's unreasonable to resign both and still pick up a new OT and OG, as well as one GOOD WR. The defense on the other hand -- that's a freaking mess. We have maybe 4 or 5 NFL caliber starters at this point, the rest are younger players of guys that aren't good enough. We have a ton of holes on defense that we need to address BIG TIME.
  25. You are crazy...that is NOT the reason. The pressure of playing in Buffalo pales in comparison to the bigger market teams. Just ask Mark Sanchez
