  1. TD did not in any way shape or form "get rid of" Peerless. Peerless and his agent did not wish to negotiate a reasonable contract with the team, thus the team used the franchise tag to reatain him. He would have earned an average of the top 5 salaries at his position and the Bills were willing to give that to him (which in itself was too much$) for a 1 year contract. Peerless and his agent incorrectly felt that they should be paid as a star #1 WR, which Peerless has proven not to be. TD in his wisdom even obtained a #1 pick for Peerless by creating urgency by ATL to sign him. We basically received something for nothing as Peerless no longer wished to play as a #2 WR.

  2. To me, Stamer and Haggan have showed consitent decent to good play, atleast in the Colt's game they did anyway (especially Stamer). I know Crowell and Stevenson play alot on Special teams, and well, that wasn't too special this past game. I didn't catch too much of either of them this past game in the regular defense.

  3. Teague sucks, so does L. Smith. Not sure what he did to make you guys all of the sudden think he is good, but he is not. He gets pushed and bowled over way to easy.

I saw a play vs. the colts where a DL stunted around to him and just knocked him over with one arm. Seems like he has balance and strength problems.

I actually think Teague (I haven't seen enough of L. Smith) is the worst starting player that we have.

You might want to take second look if you taped the games or clean off your glasses. Teague and smith have both played consistently quite well and EVERY lineman gets pushed around atleast once in a game. There are infact good players on the other side of the ball in the NFL too.

  4. considering Suckivan was playing left tackle during the game, I thought the Oline played quite well. The only real consistent problems came off the left edge Saturday night. Of course if there are any major injuries we are billsfanone, but I think otherwise they will show a marked improvement from last season. Smith played well at LG and Teague has played well the past 2 games.

  5. Sullivan said he's not a fan of the Bills. So he can be objective . To many fans are defensive...while looking through their rose colored glasses .

Fan or not, one would first have to understand the game of football, whether on the field or financially speaking, before they would be qualified to be objective. Sullivan fills neither of these requirements as shown by this Gilbride reference and THOUSANDS of other previously incorrect attempts at making a point through the years. This basically reduces him to a human windbag.

  6. also, M Williams needs to play better, he keeps getting pushed back in to bledsoe and giving up sacks. Jennings also gets pushed back, but didnt give up any sacks,(that i saw).

our O-Line needs to do ALOT better..... but i did see a screen pass, so im happy.

aiken caught a pass, we should use him more. Evans hasnt done anything, but hasnt been on the field that much.

if we go with 1 WR and 2 TEs in a "jacks" formation we will run the ball and only get 1 or 2 yards. if we go 3 wide, we will pass the ball, they will blitz and bledsoe will ball up and just try not to fumble.

i have faith in McGahee and Henry to run out of a 3 WR set. just let them try. you dont have to be in a 2 TE set to run the ball.

Clements runs to the sidelines to much on punt returns. and doesnt know how to put 2 hands on the ball. i see him fumbling a few more times. how hard is it to use 2 hands???

Smith should not be allowed to return kicks or punts. and may get cut. Reed and McGee should be our return guys, i like clements but fumbles WAY to much.

our ST SUCK. i mean come on. who missed the block for that punt? how hard is it NOT to kick the ball out of bounds??? and i say if there return man gets past the 35, than all our special teams players should be fined. o, and if our kicker or punter has to make a tackle, the fine should be 1 game check (except for the tackler).

did i mention i saw a screen....  :P  if we do those more often it might cut down on the blitzes.

no team will jsut sit back in zone and let bledsoe search for a WR. if we show pass, they will blitz. i will even take a sack, just DONT FUMBLE!!!!

Actually M. Williams played a heckuva game and Jennings did not play at all.

  7. It is not necessarily true that the most viable options are always the last cuts.  Sometimes if a team knows that a player is not in its plans they will release him early to give him a chance to catch on with someone else, even if he is a guy that has some ability.

This is true, ie. Clarence Coleman. He's a better WR than Haddad, Myers, Smith, Beard, etc. but was released early...

  8. I don't think Sullivan can play guard or tackle.  When he started a couple of years ago, I remember that Paul Zimmerman of SI reviewed our line play and made some really negative comments about Sullivan.  I know many don't seem to respect Dr. Z, but he seems spot on about this.

How can people say they are excited or even comfortable with Smith starting at LG?  Okay, maybe he is better than what we have (i.e., Pucillo, Tucker and Sullivan), but that doesn't mean he will be a quality starter.  I am kind of shocked that TD let it come to this, particlarly after the poor play of the o-line last year.

WTF is the need to go off some review by Dr. Friggin Z??? Did you not watch the 2002 season with your own eyes?. He played decent at guard, especially run blocking. You don't need some review to tell you that.

  9. He did let his man get th jump and rush too quickly, I agree, but he was pushing him far out of the pocket. Drew did the right thing, he stepped up, and MW's man only got a forearm on him, he would never have made the sack. The other inside rusher got in too quickly and collapsed the pocket, causing the sack. Again, I think I said it was the only play you could blame MW the entire game, and it was only partial blame. Each game so far, Drew has stepped up in the pocket, avoided the rush, and made very good throws for first downs.

Oh, I thought your original post says that Drew could NOT step up, avoid the rush and make good throws. Well nevermind then, we agree.

  10. Kelly I thought Drew demonstrated a very good knack for stepping up, avoiding the rush and being accurate on short passes last night. In fact so much so that it really stood out and surprised me and made me feel good about what Wyche and Clements have acheived by working with Drew. I agree with your points on MW except for the one play you mentioned. He let his man get around him way too quickly and there was also another rusher coming from the blind side. On the 2 sacks overall Drew had less than 2 seconds to deliver and one of them he smartley "Ate the ball" to avoid disaster.

  11. 1- Lawrence smith did a decent job in there. He didn't get bulled over by any DT's and the inside running game was fairly productive.

2- Coy had the best game I can remember him playing in a LONG time. Was in on a couple pass breakups, made a few tackles and had a pick of Manning (forced by good pressure).

3- Aiken seemed to run very crisp routes and caught a nice hook pattern for a first down. I think he had a reception on an out pattern as well.

4- I heard someone else mention that Baker played well but I didn't notice him last night. I'll try to watch on a second run through of the game.

5- Greer seemed to be in good position most of the night although he dropped a sure interception.

6- Gildon did nothing to make his case from anything I could see unfortunately.

7- Kelsay/Denney allowed some runs to the outside and seemed to get eaten up a little by the RT and losing outside contain but did better on inside runs. I wouldn't say that either played poorly but nothing spectacular.
