  1. Huh, imagine that. New Jersey Gym Owners Who Defied COVID Lockdowns Cleared of All Charges On Tuesday, both of the New Jersey gym owners who had been fighting a legal battle over their defiance of the Garden State's COVID-19 lockdown orders were finally cleared of all charges. https://nypost.com/2024/05/21/us-news/nj-gym-owner-who-defied-covid-shutdowns-cleared-of-charges/ https://redstate.com/wardclark/2024/05/21/new-jersey-gym-owners-who-defied-covid-lockdowns-cleared-of-all-charges-n2174490 .
  2. Biden May Already Be Plotting to Back Out of Debating Trump MATT MARGOLIS Last week, after months of uncertainty and conjecture, the Biden campaign finally broke its silence on the issue of participating in presidential debates. However, rather than going through the Presidential Debates Commission, Biden's team proposed direct negotiations with the Trump campaign for two debates: one slated for June and another for September, under terms that were transparently designed to benefit Joe Biden. The funniest thing about the debate challenge was that Biden tried to flip the script by accusing Trump of ducking debates and acting all macho about it. Despite the challenge, I was skeptical. Think about it: Why would the Biden campaign, after months of indecision, now push for debates and act like it was their idea in the first place? Biden’s public appearances have been disastrous. Even with a teleprompter, he struggles to deliver a speech without embarrassing himself. When he strays from the script, it’s a spectacle of blunders. His video challenge to Trump was a debacle as well, requiring a jump cut roughly every two seconds for a video that was just 13 seconds long. It's certainly possible it was a bluff because the conditions the Biden campaign proposed were ridiculously absurd. Unfortunately for the Biden campaign, Trump called their bluff and agreed to the debates. {snip} My skepticism appears to have been well founded because, according to Cindy Adams of the New York Post, Joe Biden is already trying to avoid debating Trump. Adams says that sources at CNN say both campaigns are having "second thoughts" about the rules agreed to and want out of the debate. If the Biden campaign is truly having second, third, and fourth thoughts about the agreed-upon rules, which his campaign proposed, that tells me the debate challenge was a bluff they never expected Trump to agree to, and now they're fishing for reasons Biden can back out and potentially save face. https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2024/05/21/biden-may-already-be-plotting-to-back-out-of-debating-trump-n4929200
  3. Why that's 'unseemly' . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Oh well. Hunter Biden's exes to testify in gun trial: The list of lovers prosecution is set to call, including his brother's widow Hunter Biden's gun trial will feature some scintillating testimony from his ex-lovers that could reveal the personal details of his drug use when he purchased a firearm. The president's son's ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, his ex-girlfriend Zoe Kestan and his deceased brother Beau's widow Hallie Biden - whom Hunter had a romantic relationship with - all could be called to testify, according to court papers filed Monday. Hunter Biden is charged in Delaware with three charges related to illegal possession of a gun. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison. He has pleaded not guilty. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13445043/hunter-biden-exes-testify-gun-trial.html .
  4. Former President Donald Trump’s allies are reportedly working to make inroads with Arab American activists and donors as polling shows he is crushing President Joe Biden with Arab American and Muslim voters in crucial swing states. Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin reported Monday that “Arab-American donors and activists from around the country plan to convene in Oakland Hills, Mich., for a private dinner initiated by” Trump’s former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell. Among those in attendance will be Michael Boulos, who is married to Tiffany Trump, and his father, Dr. Massad Boulos. Insider notes that the elder Boulos is the CEO of SCOA Nigeria PLC. The New York Times previously reported he also leads a vehicle assembly and distribution company in Nigeria called Boulos Enterprises. Michael was born in Lebanon and grew up in Nigeria. Rogan points out that the dinner comes on the heels of a Times poll showing that Muslim and Arab Americans have fled Biden for Trump in critical swing states. The polling average between six battleground states—Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin–found Trump at a whopping 57 percent with Muslim and Arab American voters, while Biden scored less than half of that at 25 percent. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/05/20/trump-muslims-arabs-michigan-election/ https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/donald-trumps-billionaire-son-law-215845504.html? https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/13/upshot/polling-biden-battlegrounds-senate.html#:~:text=Arab and Muslim voters,Muslim voters in the poll.
  5. The Democrats Are Everything They Say They Fear About Trump. “There has been a steady media diet of ‘Trump is Hitler’ from the people who are actually fomenting and excusing Nazi sentiments on college campuses. It’s a bit surreal even for those of us who are used to the Democrats and all of their projection.” https://pjmedia.com/stephen-kruiser/2024/05/21/the-morning-briefing-the-democrats-are-everything-they-say-they-fear-about-trump-n4929212

  10. Biden Lawsuit Against Sheetz Gas Will Enrage Pennsylvania Voters SALENA ZITO ALTOONA, Pennsylvania -- The oldest gas station in America still in operation, Reighard's here in this Blair County city, got its start in 1908 when a local blacksmith decided to sell gasoline out the back of his shop when the Model T was introduced. It has been open ever since. While architecturally it is underwhelming, the service is good because the people who work there care about the work they do, whether it is pumping gas, washing your windshield or doing minor fixes on your car. It is important to them that you return. While Reighard's holds the title of the oldest gas station in the country, it was another Altoona family that put a different kind of gas station excellence on the map. The Sheetz family story is one of struggles. This family-friendly service station struggled with a salmonella breakout in 2004, but it retained a deeply local customer base and expanded well beyond its western Pennsylvania roots. Ask any traveler in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina and they'll tell you when they see the cheery red and yellow stations along their drives, Sheetz means quality and comfort to their loyal customers. One very loyal and vocal customer is Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), the Braddock Democrat who often posts on X his preference for Sheetz over Wawa, the other mega service station based in the state, with cheeky posts such as "Sheetz > Wawa." With so much loyalty among residents in the state, it made sense for President Joe Biden to do a photo-op at a Sheetz in suburban Pittsburgh last week after his visit with local steelworkers. He wanted to demonstrate that he is no different than any other Pennsylvanian in his affection for the family-owned business. Biden even went so far as to pick up sandwiches for construction workers after pulling the presidential motorcade into the Sheetz gas station in Moon Township. Wearing his aviator glasses, he posed for a selfie with an employee. Then things got weird. Just one day after the president's orchestrated Sheetz run, the Biden administration hit the privately held convenience store chain with a federal lawsuit in which federal officials say the company discriminated against minority job applicants. The theory, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, is that because the company uses criminal background checks to screen job seekers, somehow that's a violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. {snip} Going after Sheetz is like tugging on Superman's cape in Pennsylvania, in particular in central and western Pennsylvania when pulling up to a Sheetz is like pulling up to home. This is especially so when the alleged "violation" is what common sense says is just good business practices, such as making sure employees who interact with the public aren't criminals. Like the Biden administration's pause of exports of American liquefied natural gas, which harms hundreds of thousands of jobs in the state, or his proposed rule for the 45V hydrogen production tax credit that would cut Pennsylvania workers out of the equation in the hydrogen industry, the Sheetz lawsuit has local Democrats shaking their heads. As one Democrat said privately, "Is [Biden] just trying to lose Pennsylvania?" https://hotair.com/salena-zito/2024/05/21/biden-lawsuit-against-sheetz-gas-will-enrage-pennsylvania-voters-n3788764
  11. Hahahahahahaha. The Trump trial was supposed to be such a big deal, but somehow "a strange sense of anticlimax hangs over the whole affair." As Michelle Goldberg puts it, in "The Trump Trial’s Great Anticlimax" (NYT). In a recent Yahoo News/YouGov poll, only 16 percent of respondents said they were following the trial very closely, with an additional 32 percent following it “somewhat” closely. “Those numbers rank as some of the lowest for any recent news event,” wrote Yahoo News’s Andrew Romano. When people were asked how the trial made them feel, the most common response was “bored.”... A hopeful possibility... is that a guilty verdict will come as a shock to many Americans who have checked out of the news cycle, perhaps giving them pause about putting a criminal in the White House. I wouldn’t count on it, though. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/20/opinion/columnists/trump-trial-apathy.html?smid=url-share .
  12. Actually, It Was the U.S. Who Killed Iranian President Raisi (Iran Says) by Joe Cunningham It is with a heavy heart that we must report who Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's real killer is: The United States of America. At least, that's the implication from Iran, which needed a couple of days to get its story straight and blame "Western sanctions" on the poor quality of its helicopters, which led to Raisi's untimely demise. That talking point is now floating around, thanks to friendly media outlets willing to overlook (if not actually cheer on) Iran being a country run by very bad people. “One of the culprits behind yesterday’s tragedy is the United States, because of its sanctions that bar Iran from procuring essential aviation parts,” https://redstate.com/joesquire/2024/05/21/actually-it-was-the-us-who-killed-iranian-president-raisi-n2174453 .
  13. Every once in a great while, Biden's handlers give him the right thing to say. Good. Biden Slams ICC over ‘Outrageous’ Netanyahu Arrest Warrant by David Zimmerman President Joe Biden forcefully denounced the International Criminal Court’s “outrageous” arrest warrant application against Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and defense minister Yoav Gallant on Monday. “Let me be clear: whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence — none — between Israel and Hamas,” Biden said in a brief statement. “We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.” Earlier Monday, ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan announced his intention to apply for an arrest warrant for the two Israeli leaders, as well as a separate warrant for three Hamas officials https://www.nationalreview.com/news/biden-slams-icc-over-outrageous-netanyahu-arrest-warrant/
  14. Alvin Bragg's Case in Shambles After Michael Cohen Admits to Stealing From Trump and More It's not quite time for closing arguments in the New York-based criminal case against Donald Trump, but the crescendo is building. On Monday, disgraced felon Michael Cohen retook the stand as he continued to serve as the prosecution's star witness. The problem? Cohen is a proven liar and total s*****g, and Trump's legal team got him to admit that on the stand in no uncertain terms. In a moment that set the internet on fire, Cohen admitted to stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Trump organization. I can't claim to know what the jury will ultimately decide in this case given how absurd and overly-politicized it is. I can say with some certainty that in any normal situation, having the prosecution's star witness admit to being a dishonest thief would be a death blow to the case's credibility. Remember, everything revolves around Cohen, who is now claiming to be a patsy who was just doing the bidding of Trump in cutting the check to Stormy Daniels. That wasn't the only gut punch to Bragg's prosecution, though. Trump's legal team later highlighted that Cohen had repeatedly told the press and others that Trump did not know about the payment. It wasn't until after the FBI raided Cohen's home and office that he changed his story. Again, the lack of credibility of Bragg's star witness is simply astonishing. https://redstate.com/bonchie/2024/05/20/michael-cohen-admits-on-the-witness-stand-to-stealing-money-from-trump-as-case-gets-more-absurd-n2174413#google_vignette
