  1. Dear Buddy: Why the hell do you keep recycling the same damn tired cliches? Heaven knows all you have to do is study the film. Get a clue. Sincerely, Dick Jauron
  2. From the ESPN article: According to the lawsuit, following numerous studies on the risks of concussions, the NFL created a committee of researchers and doctors in 1994 to study concussions. The committee was supposed to be independent, but members were affiliated with the NFL, the lawsuit said, and the group did not include a doctor specializing in neurology or other brain research. When the committee published its findings in 2003, it stated "there was no long-term negative health consequence associated with concussions," according to the complaint. And now the NFL is treating concussions super seriously despite its preliminary findings. As you wrote, it'll be interesting, indeed. Give it time.
  3. Perhaps not the best analogy. I don't disagree with your argument. I'm not on either side. But I don't think it'll ever go to trial. I think the NFL will settle. There is a world of difference between sympathies for players during a "lock out" and sympathies for former players who no doubt will go on every news show imaginable to state their case. If their acting skills are any good, they'll get the public's sympathy. They're going to spin it to say that the NFL knew about the potential dangers but didn't disclose them. I can just see teary-eyed former pros crying their eyes out while they shake on 60 Minutes. That WOULD tilt public opinion, because the NFL will not launch such a PR campaign. Again, I'm not siding with anyone. I'm just predicting that the NFL will want this to go away as quickly as possible, especially with the *hundreds* of former players who are likely to file suit as well.
  4. I completely agree. I think it will boil down to how much of a black eye the NFL is willing to take in the eyes of the public. (Public likely will be sympathetic toward the players). I smell "settlement," and I'd guess the players do, too.
  5. Well, that didn't take long. Wonder if this will eventually become (or will be eligible for) a class-action suit. I wouldn't be surprised if hundreds file suit within a month.
  6. That shakes up the Top 10 (regardless of what mock you're looking at). Would Landry Jones' stock rise if he stays?
  7. I've never said this before: Were this to happen, I'd stop following the Bills, stop buying merchandise, tickets, etc. until his FAT ASS is gone.
  8. 1). Dolphins (I live in South Florida, and these are the phoniest fans ever; still feeding off the '90s rivalries) 2). Chargers (It's all about the QB) 3). Lions (It's all about the dirty defense and classless head coach) 4). Jets (Fat Rex; team flaps its mouth as much as the coach; Fat Rex. Did I mention Fat Rex?) 5). Cowboys (History versus us; WAY overrated QB; the OTHER fat Ryan; Jerry Jones. Even Fitzpatrick would have a FIELD DAY with that wide receiving corps -- and tight end)
  9. I was wondering when former players would start suing for concussions. The answer is "today." Before 2012 is over, I wonder how many former players will have filed suit.
  10. From Insider's Scout page on Reiff: "...Plead guilty to misdemeanor counts of public intoxication and interference with official acts in July of 2009. Officers reportedly found him undressing and acting disoriented in an alley when he ran into a nearby kitchen. Pursuit reportedly lasted 20 minutes and involved eight officers." I don't want visuals of O-linemen undressing. But hey, at least he didn't steal $20 from a woman at T.G.I. Friday's.
  11. By 2016, maybe one of Travis Henry's 11 kids will be a college RB, so we can really rinse and repeat.
  12. I'm not as down on Landry Jones as many people are. San Diego needs an OT. They (currently) pick right before Seattle, who desperately needs a QB. I wouldn't mind a few extra draft picks -- and a signal caller whose supporting cast died on him this year.
  13. Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama (13) Andre Branch, DE, Clemson (14) (According to that mock)
  14. I seriously am not liking McShay today. If it falls this way, trade down, please.
  15. Per ESPN Insider: 1. Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford 2. Rams: Matt Kalil, OT, USC 3. Vikings: Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU 4. Browns: Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama 5. Jaguars: Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina 6. Buccaneers: Dre Kikpatrick, CB, Alabama 7. Redskins: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor 8. Dolphins: Matt Barkley, QB, USC 9. Panthers: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State 10. Bills: Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa What say you?
  16. Absolutely love this draft. These kids have been forced into starting roles (due to injuries) and many will be starters on this team next year with a good amount of experience, pushing some vets out the door. I'm already looking forward to 2012/2013.
  17. DEAR GENIUS: You don't even know the Broncos drafted SECOND, and the BILLS drafted third. TOO FUNNY! The point of the post that started this was NOT about records or draft positions -- It was about "bad" teams with high draft picks. I mentioned the coaching staff change BEFORE the draft which instantly improved this team. Yup, they sucked last year. But they made great changes in the offseason, and became a lot better. Hence, a "GOOD" team CAN draft low. I pity your ignorance. It's called SARCASM. My 10-year-old niece would have gotten that. But after reading your reply here, and checking some of your other posts -- and seeing how many posters think you're a joke and ignore you -- I'm not going to waste much more time on you. You're seriously dumbing this board down. Peace out, PDaDdy -- I'm guessing you're 4'11, 230 and have major Napoleon syndrome. My apologies for the physical and mental challenges Tebow -- I mean GOD -- imposed on you. Denver drafted "THIRD" -- LOL!
  18. So far, you're making my point for me -- quite brilliantly. Are you saying a team can't improve in the offseason (like -- I don't know -- hiring a good head coach and coaching staff?) In addition to head coach, they hired a new WR coach, new linebackers coach, new special teams coordinator, new secondary coach, and a new OL coach. Again, those guys were in place before the draft and immediately made the Broncos stronger. But according to you, offseason moves mean nothing, so... There it is! I knew you wouldn't disappoint. All of those come-from-behind Tebow victories were pure luck. DIVINE INTERVENTION! Got it. Nice try. Meh, not really. Newsflash: Tebow was on this team last year, too. I expected "posts" JUST LIKE YOURS because many of you refuse to give credit where credit is due. Thanks for proving my theory. Now, on the off-chance you aren't as closed minded as you come across, Kyle Orton SUCKED. New coach made a change. Enter Tebow, and good things happened. No-name wide receivers stepped up. The level of play OVERALL is up because of Tebow. The coach made a great move -- knew how to play to Tebow's strengths -- and the team improved. Denver faithful showed up in droves to see him and cheer on the Broncos. Good coaching can do wonders, huh? It appears you need to read stuff twice: The new coaching staff was in place BEFORE the draft. So was Tebow. According to you, last year's record defines the team as "bad." And nothing in the offseason up to the draft means a darn thing? Huh.
  19. Von Miller. Broncos already are 8-6 and have a realistic shot at 10-6. Oh, and they'll likely clinch the division. Cue "they got lucky with Tebow" posts in... 3... 2... 1...
  20. And in which round was Brady drafted? I remember all of the clamoring on this board a couple of years ago for Clausen. Has there been a Clausen sighting lately? I won't mention this past draft class where there MIGHT be two franchise QBs when all is said and done. Drafting a "franchise" QB is not an exact science. Are we anointing Luck, RGIII and Barkley HOFers ALREADY? Sure seems some of us are. Let's see them play a snap in the NFL, shall we? Agree. Most of the Patriots drafts have been crappy. But we have a history -- over the past five or six years -- of drafting well in later rounds. I'm all for trading DOWN and getting picks. Heaven knows half/most of our higher picks over the last decade were the WRONG picks for this organization. Why not play to our strengths and not our weaknesses?
