  1. This. I'd take Dareus over Duh any day. Duh appears to be more talented (at the moment), but attitudes are difficult -- if not impossible -- to adjust at this level. After the game, Duh denied doing anything wrong. Duh might be the better player on paper -- But we can say with certainty that Dareus' play style isn't going to "hurt his team bigtime" as the author of this reply correctly deduced about Duh. If he keeps this up, and his lack of discipline continues to cost the Lions games, the fans -- and team management -- will start to turn on their own guy. Dareus will be a beast next year, imo, especially with Williams back. There's no such thing as a wake-up call for people who are in complete denial. Sorry, DUH.
  2. We did the Packers a HUGE favor in 2004 by leapfrogging them to draft Losman. Many reputable insiders had Losman as GB's first-round pick that year. So they waited till 2005 -- BOOM, Aaron Rodgers.
  3. Where are all the loud-mouth Jets fans this week? Maybe they truly believe Rex is God -- If he says STFU, they do it!
  4. NoSaint, you seem like a pretty intelligent guy (from other posts). Why the barbs? Do you really need to call someone else's OPINION "awful" to make your point? you're doing just fine without that. I enjoy our debates. And, to your point, Billy said it in front of the press. Dumb, dumb move. Especially in NYC. Not really. He gave someone the finger at that event and was fined $50K by the JETS for his actions, which were caught on camera phone. He wasn't fined by the NFL. I don't believe either should be fined. One is hearsay, the other was captured on a camera phone. As I previously wrote, if one is fined, the other should be. Not because the offenses were equal -- But because it'll just fuel the "conspiracy theory" many have about NFL bias toward the Pats. Again, coaches curse all the time on the sidelines. Players curse at one another all the time on the field. If everyone was fined or suspended for each curse -- It would further wussify the league. Most of these fines are way out of control, as it stands.
  5. Fair enough -- Rivers is a creep; I was going to keep it on until the chargers win. (LOL) However, you might find my original avatar more creepy... Just sayin' ~
  6. Agree with everything you said. Also agree that he's a d-bag. And hey -- something COULD happen. Wasn't Bud Adams nailed for $250K giving us the double bird? If Ryan is fined, they had better fine Belichick as well. ~ His comment was so much better. Oh, and this is what Ryan said to a "Post" reporter: "It's something I'll bring up to him after we beat them in the playoffs again this year." You'd think he'd have learned something. Nope.
  7. Dear Desean, You're an IDIOT for going broke. Sin- uuuuhh... -- seerley, -- Mike Tyson http://www.businesspundit.com/25-rich-athletes-who-went-broke/
  8. Fair enough -- Thanks for clarifying. I agree with this. I also don't believe comparing baseball (162 games a year) to the NFL (maximum 20 games a year, including Super Bowl and preseason) is apples to apples. The Cubs are known just as well (if not moreso) for their stadium -- their tenure in MLB -- their losing streak -- and even Waveland Avenue -- than for their actual team. Chicago is a huge market; Buffalo is not. Again, I agree. But football is definitely the odd sport out in an international discussion. "Futbol" -- to most, overseas -- is soccer. The NFL and other leagues are TRYING to spark interest in some parts of Europe, but most of those folks don't have a clue what American Football is all about. I travel extensively on business -- overseas -- and everyone knows the Yankees. Everyone knows the Lakers. They shrug when I try to speak about "football." It's all about winning. This team has sucked for a very, very long time. Winning leads to prime time TV appearances. That leads to notoriety. That leads to merchandise sales and other financial benefits. The Bills simply have not earned the right to be on prime time on a regular basis. Mind you -- I'm a diehard fan. But an honest one. I wonder how many prime time games the Cowboys will get next year when they miss the playoffs this year. Also -- and I'm the first to admit I don't have the time for this -- I'd be very interested in comparing Buffalo's population to some of the other teams' cities' populations -- then multiplying our fan base by the number of times their population trumps ours. I'll amend my original statement to: "For such a small market, Buffalo has a nice following nationwide." Again -- If you're "good," you get all that cool stuff you mentioned above. If you suck -- you become more irrelevant in the eyes of the NFL. The 49ers were a "household name" through the 80s and 90s. Since then? Not so much... Until this year. Because they're winning again. They have an exciting new coach. Etc.
  9. With the staggering number of injuries (NFL-wide) this year, I can't help but blame it on the shortened "offseason." Sure, players can train solo all they want -- They're still not going to get what the NEED from strength and conditioning coaches. The players were hurt by this deal in more than one way. (For the record, I was on the owners' side).
  10. Michael Vick = arguably the worst thing that ever happened to Jackson on the football field. Yes, that includes fumbling the ball TWICE before taking it in because he was showboating. http://youtu.be/pH1H13nl01M He's a tool in more than one way.
  11. So that entire two-hour excursion cost him $25K? That was just for drinks BEFORE dinner? WOW. Actually, $8 for bottled water in Los Angeles is quite reasonable.
  12. As awesome as that would be, I highly doubt it will happen. If you read lips on the sidelines, you'll catch players/coaches dropping the F-bomb all the time -- on national TV. You just can't hear them, usually. This was some random video camera. IF something happens, it's likely to be a fine, not a suspension. I believe Bryan Cox was fined $3,000 for his double-middle-finger salute to the Bills on national TV back in 1993. No suspension.
  13. This is AWESOME. I never really understood the hatred for Belichick. Yeah, he's smug -- and I can't blame anyone for hating him for putting together winning teams -- But he doesn't go around making guarantees, then acting like a p*ssy when his "guarantees" blow up in his face. Way to embrace your own fan base, Rex!
  14. And sometimes he just acts like a punk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsSpYLU7Ig0 (Yes, I've posted it before -- It's so vile and immature -- and I think of THIS every time I hear the name "Philip Rivers")
  15. Agree 100% -- and I put it in writing on this board on Oct. 24 after the Jets loss, when they were 4-2. The Chargers have dropped three straight since. For those who think he's elite: Do you think sub-par performances in playoff games make you elite? PLAYOFFS * Appearances: 7 * Record: 3-4 * TDs: 8 * INTs: 9 Playoff Individual Game Stats: * Game 1 (Loss, 24-21 vs. New England): 14-32, 230 YD, 0 TD, 1 INT * Game 2 (Win, 17-6 vs. Tennessee): 19-30, 292 YD, 1TD, 1 INT * Game 3 (Win, 28-24 vs. Indianapolis): 14-19, 264 YD, 3 TD, 1 INT * Game 4 (Loss, 21-12 vs. New England): 19-37, 211 YD, 0 TD, 2 INT * Game 5 (Win, 23-17 vs. Indianapolis): 20-36, 217 YD, 0 TD, 1 INT * Game 6 (Loss, 35-24 vs. Pittsburgh): 21-35, 308 YD, 3 TD, 1 INT * Game 7 (Loss, 17-14 vs. NYJ): 27-40, 298 YD, 1 TD, 2 INT For those who believe regular-season stats matter more -- Well, like it or not, we're halfway through the 2011 regular season. Let's check out how Rivers is doing now, huh? Comp: 216; Attempts: 352; Yards: 2,743; Average 7.8; TDs: 13; INTs: 15; Sacks: 25; Rating: 80.2; Fumbles: 8; Fumbles Lost: 4 (yes, that includes the choke job in KC) Now, let's take a peek at who the Chargers have beaten this year, and the combined records of those teams (Minnesota, Denver, Miami, Kansas City): 10-22. Bottom line on last night is Oakland's D was far superior to San Diego's offense. Oakland coached a much better game, and Norv is -- well, Norv. Remember 2008? Edwards looked really good for the first four games, then took a SHOT in Arizona from Adrian Wilson. He looked -- and played -- scared after that injury. Something is very wrong with Rivers. Whether it's temporary or permanent remains to be seen. His best days could easily be behind him.
  16. You scared me there for a minute -- Had to check my fantasy lineup. Dan Bailey is the starter -- and #2 overall, fantasy-wise, this year. They had two kickers on their active roster?
  17. Clearly, you lack reading comprehension skills. Or perhaps you only retain what you choose to retain. The main point was that I proved the OP wrong by pointing out that there are celebrities and members of the media who have ZERO problem admitting to being Bills fans (Berman above all). I also disproved the statement that nobody gives "a flying f%&k" about the Bills. So what did you do? You picked the VERY LAST point of my post and attempted to pick on that. The Bills DO have a large national following (which can be interpreted in a myriad of ways), and NOWHERE did I even mention the Cubs, let alone compare the two. You made up the "global" reference as well. I suppose that ties right in to your "lack of reading comprehension/retention skills." And, according to your statement, I'm NOT "completely delusional" because I never wrote what you claimed I inferred. Nice try... I guess.
  18. Chris Berman Donald Trump Tim Russert (RIP) Jim Carrey Phil Mickelson Meat Loaf (for what it's worth) Those are/were prominent "celebrities, media, etc." who endear/endeared the Buffalo Bills. As for the "large national following," I was a member of the Bills Backers in Orange County, Calif., about 10 years ago. If you came late, you couldn't even get into the bar that we OWNED in Long Beach on Sundays. Not enough room. We had 250 members. The Bills have a huge following nationwide, including here in South Florida. Pick a Bills Backers bar -- any over 50 members -- join them for a few beers during a game -- and you'll understand. But yeah -- nobody gives "a flying f%&k" about the Bills.
  19. "Using any body part above the waist is totally unnecessary. Therefore, Lindell is a fairy for sitting out." Sincerely, Male River Dancer
  20. But... But... He made the SEISMIC METER move! Freddie has been so amazing that any other "highlight" of Lynch has been wiped clear from my memory. That puts him in elite company -- I only remember one highlight from Tim Tindale, too -- a 1995 4th-quarter TD against the Blowfish (and BOY did I enjoy that).
  21. It's a good point. I didn't remember the "handshake" from a few weeks back when I first posted. Add another D-bag to Detroit's list.
  22. Forgive me if this point was embedded in another post -- I haven't come across it yet. Is it just me, or is there a world of difference between this year's Lions and the Bills? I'm not talking about the surprise factor -- or the talent -- or even records (they're nearly identical). I'm talking about class. Both teams have been awful for years, but there is a very obvious difference between the two: The Bills haven't forgotten where they came from. The Lions seemingly have. All of the nonsense with Suh and Detroit's defense versus opposing QBs the past few weeks -- and now they're hating -- I mean BLATANTLY hating -- on Tebow. For what? For sucking? I haven't read any quotes from Bills calling Beck a "joke," even though they'd be well within their right to do so after yesterday's embarrassment. I think Chan has much better control over his boys than Jim Schwartz. I can see that biting the Lions in the a$$ in the not-too-distant future. Grow the f*ck up, Detroit. Like us, you've been irrelevant for a long time. A little humility, maybe?
  23. Agreed. I think that's why our friend from Green Bay wants the match-up. That said, I look around the AFC -- and I don't see an "unbeatable team" like years past. New England is looking mortal -- as is Baltimore, all of a sudden. It could happen.
  24. This. I've never understood "that wide receiver" at the end of the game praising God for his game-winning touchdown. God clearly hated the CB he beat to score that TD.
