  1. Josh has clearly slowed down and may be be over the hill now. I'd like to see what Kyle Allen could do to get this offense jumpstarted.

    JK.

I just need a win this week and next week, no matter how ugly.  Let the new guys on defense get acclimated and hopefully the other nicked up guys (Hyde, Benford, Knox, Bernard, etc) can get healthy for the stretch run.  As for specifics, I'd like to see us go uptempo on offense for extended stretches, and a more effective Von once he goes to the smaller knee brace.

How are we an elite team??? Seriously? We have not shown this at all. We look one dimensional. I sure hope it changes as you elude to but I just don't see it. If we are "hoping", which we are, then we are in trouble.

We look mediocre-to-bad over the last five weeks, no doubt, and I do think that's where we are trending for the rest of the season.  However, we were clearly "elite" and maybe the best team in the entire league from weeks 2-4.  The defensive injuries are deeply concerning and will keep us from making the playoffs IMO, but the offense still has the potential to play at the level we saw against the Raiders, Dolphins and for one half against the Bucs.  My faith meter is probably around 25% right now, but I was hovering in that range in '21, so I'm not ready pack it in just yet.

  3. I don't have a problem with a deep shot there to your "speedster" when he clearly has single coverage.  Not a great route by Harty, but if Josh throws that ball more towards the middle of the field, then Harty can make a play on it.  I think Josh is afraid to throw that bomb inside, because of how often he's been fooled and picked off by safety help.

Ok, dude would kill the ball from the 10 yard line and net over 50.  Fine.

Just wait until he is asked for a shorter coffin corner punt and he fails.  Will there be “bring back Martin threads”?

Proof that we should carry two punters.  Oh, and bring back Taiwan Jones, too.

  5. Thanks for taking the time to do this, Einstein.  My only quibble is the play you used to show a lack of separation, since that was clearly some sort of broken play where two of our receivers tackled each other.

I don't doubt that they are struggling to separate, though.  Diggs is really the only guy who consistently can in this offense.  I have finally come around with the majority of the board and have completely soured on Gabe Davis.  He should be a backup/WR4.  I'd like Shakir to move into the WR2.

is it Dorsey or is it McDermott?

It's weird we hear so little out of this organization and the media refuses to critique the team. However, sometimes in what they don't say we find something. In this case it is the idea that McDermott has had input to strategically limit our plays.

I don't buy the McDermott excuse.  It's Dorsey's scheme and playcalling.  Dorsey sucks and should have never been given the job.

  7. At this point, I no longer believe it's the players.  I think most of these guys are fine (though, I have admittedly soured on Gabe Davis). Dorsey and/or Josh just don't know what to do with them or how to get them involved.

I'd definitely cut Von. He is absolutely done. That was an all in for 2022 move, and luck wasn't on their side. It sucks but there it is.

I'd keep Knox another year but I'd move off him after 2024. I still think he can play and his performances this year are not a true reflection of him. Yes he will be overpaid next year but it costs you more to cut him than to keep him in 2024. So the best "take your medicine" approach on Knox is actually keeping him 1 more year then cutting him.

On Tre.... question 1 is where is his head at? Does he still want to play? If he does then I'd see if he is willing to leave some unguaranteed money on the table for a little bump in the guaranteed segment of the next two years. If I can bring his cap hits down with a pay cut of that nature I'd be inclined to keep him. There is merit for him to trying to come back again to a scheme and a team he knows rather than fighting through it and learning something new. If he isn't willing to move at all on the deal then you have to cut him.

You've pretty much nailed where I'm at with these guys.  Von is toast, but Knox has value as an all-around TE.

I don't see much of a market for Tre as a FA.  His best bet (assuming he wants to play and we are still interested) is agreeing to big pay cut with the Bills and rehabbing for a midseason return.

I could not believe how they opened that second drive.

It was like they said, "uh oh, this is turning into a track meet. We don't want that", so they deliberately neutered the flow of the game and their own offense. I'm not sure Dorsey can see the forest for the trees quite honestly.

  10. Offense came out hot tonight, but Dorsey decided to put the brakes on them after the first drive and slowed the tempo to molasses pace.  When he does that, Josh seems to fall into a sort of malaise and stops processing quickly, holds the ball forever and eventually scrambles right and throws the ball away.  It's the same script over and over again.

Forget injuries as an excuse. Lets be honest. White's done, Jones will be 32 next year. Melano in a good year misses at least 4 games every year. Mill;er's is an worthles albatross. He needs to shut up and start playing... This is what we have to look forward too?

I agree.  Need a rebuild not a reload at this point.  Probably three years away from truly contending again.  We need two safeties, a couple linebackers, starter quality edge and DT, another boundary corner, #1 and #2 receivers.  And probably 2 new tackles and a center.  Otherwise, things look good.
