The most apt comparison is Jake Delhomme in his prime. Both guys were sort of rotting on the sidelines until their late 20's. Both are fairly mobile gunslingers/risktakers with lower-than-average completion percentages. Check out Delhomme's stats from 2003-2005 when he was 28-30 years old. Those numbers are eerily similar to Fitz's stats as quarterback for the Bills.

This is not meant to be a knock on Fitz. Delhomme was considered a top-10 quarterback at that time and he proved to be good enough in his one Super Bowl appearance to have won that game for the Panthers. Injuries ended up taking a toll on him and then his skills just fell off a cliff.

I agree with the OP completely. This team has done nothing other than beat two teams it should have. If and when we beat one of Pats/Eagles/Jets then we might finally be on to something. Until then, color me cynical. History tells me that we're in for a whipping this weekend.
My negativity doesn't mean that I haven't enjoyed our 2-0 start or didn't have a blast watching yesterday's game. I'm just realistic about our talent level and I'm not ready to go all in yet until this team gives me reason to believe we have the pieces to compete for a playoff spot.

Most painful:
Wide Right and Homerun Throwback games.
So Ridiculously Billsian you have to laugh:
Dallas Monday-nighter and New England 2009.
Most disgusted:
Hiring of Jauron and benching of Flutie
Saddest:
December 1994 home loss to the Patriots which eliminated us from the playoffs. Reich led us to a 17-3 lead before it all fell apart and we lost 41-17. You could literally feel in the stadium that the "magic" was gone and that we were coming to the end of an era. I will always look back on that day as the unofficial end of the Kelly/Thomas/Smith/Reed/Levy era.
And the day we released Thomas, Smith and Reed. I still can't believe we sent those guys out in such an undignified manner. No wonder we've been cursed for a decade.

Best moments in person at the Ralph:
1988 - Jets division clincher game. You just knew it was the start of something special.
1990 - Denver comeback game where Biscuit returned the blocked field goal. Rich Stadium was freaking rocking.
1991 - AFC championship game vs. Raiders
1993 - the Comeback
2002 - Miami blizzard game where Moulds and Price both put up long TDs in the snow. Was my wife's first Bills game and first time in the snow (she's from SoCal).

The longer runs occurred once we had a 20+ point lead and were running a pass-protection defense. I believe both of those runs were also draws that caught us off-guard since we were rushing the passer. The Chiefs running game did absolutely squat early in the game when it counted and when they were willfully trying to establish it. The 6.0 ypc stat is a misleading and meaningless one - sort of like our 3rd ranked pass defense last year.
