They've had their struggles with drops/penalties/turnovers at times, but this KC roster is better than last season's. The defense is much better than last year's or any defense in the Mahomes era, and the biggest difference in personnel on the offensive side is swapping Smith-Schuster for Rice, which is looking like a huge upgrade right now. Plus, Mahomes isn't playing with a high ankle sprain this time.

None of this guarantees anything, but the narrative that the roster is weak isn't accurate.

Hmm...all of 25 posts to your credit (under this screen name) and you're here "warning" us all about how dangerous and talented KC is...

Maybe you and @FilthyBeast should go down to the gym and pump each other?

I am concerned while our defense is this beaten up. Because my logic is the Chiefs defense is gonna be tough to play. It has been all year. I think they have let up 30 or more once in 2 seasons. They are legit on defense. But that wouldn't worry me if we had all our defensive pieces (and I'm not even meaning Tre and Matt here) because I think we'd be capable of holding them.

You need to give me one of Bernard (not happening) or Taron (feels 50/50 at best) for Sunday. If we have one of those guys up I just favour the Bills. If they are both down I worry Kelce will destroy us in the middle of the field and it won't matter that Mahomes has no good receivers because they will give Kelce 15 or 16 targets and move the ball.

I hear you, but I do have faith in McD not to let that happen.  The strength of this defense is the DL and they are healthy.  If we stop the run and dedicate coverage to Kelce I think we’ll be fine.  They can move the ball between the 20s…we will stop them from scoring TDs.

I also think Allen is going to have an easier time against the KC defense than many think.  Their defense is very good but Allen is on another level and we actually have multiple weapons (Diggs/Cook/Kincaid/Knox/Shakir)…I’m not even including or counting on Gabe.

Anyway, we’ll see on Sunday night.

  3. Question:  when is the last time KC faced a top tier QB on the road and won?  They haven’t even done well against elite QBs at home.  This season they lost to Love at GB, lost to Allen at home, lost to Hurts at home…they beat Tua in Germany and at home, but we know who Tua is…

I just looked at their game splits and this Chiefs team is completely underwhelming.  They finished the regular season on a 5-5 “run” — winning their last two in unimpressive fashion against the Browning Bengals and Hockey Stick Chargers (when everyone was rested).

The last time Mahomes threw for 300 yards?  Against the Chargers in W7.

I think there is an overwhelming sentiment, because of who Mahomes and the Chiefs have been, that they are still an “elite” team.  Do we really believe that their win in an Ice Bowl against the quitting, stinking Fish means they are “back?”  I’d suggest they haven’t played a complete game since W7, and they really have no impressive victories at all this season.

And while we’re at it, let’s talk about turnovers.  The “turnover machine” Josh Allen-led Bills have turned it over 28 times through 18 games…the Chiefs have turned it over 29.

I get it, the Bills’ defense is injury ravaged and we’re all anxious because of our BBFS…but on paper this game doesn’t look like a “pick ‘em” at all.

I’ll never underestimate Mahomes or Kelce, and the Bills need to focus on continuing to shut down the run…but this is our time to end the Chiefs’ run.

    Go Bills!!!

    15 and 6, Babyyyyyy!!!!!

Really? Then by extension a receiver could catch a ball standing out of bounds but as long as the ball was in bounds it's a catch.

    Can't have it both ways...

No, that’s not “by extension” at all.  If you’re out of bounds and touch a ball it’s out of bounds.  Pretty simple, really.

    Couple updates:

-Sam Martin has a grade 2 hamstring strain. He was shot up at halftime of the Steelers game just to be able to execute his punts in the 2nd half, but that is a temporary solution before the swelling sets in. Unlikely he will be available on Sunday.

-Spector may have what's called a "transverse process fracture" in his back (someone more medically educated than me can maybe explain what this is) which is just a pain management issue.

The transverse process is the “wing” on the edge of the spine…it is rarely a surgical injury and I agree, it’s a matter of pain management.

That's a lazy retort, but so was mine...

It's the logical corollary of getting two feet inbounds on a catch. If you have a toe OB, you're OB. If you have a toe OB already and touch the ball then the ball is OB and the play is dead by the same reasoning.

I actually think the rule makes sense.  I don’t think there was compelling evidence last night that a player OB touched the ball before we recovered it.

We need another snowstorm if we are going to get Taron Johnson back. That injury is going to be a killer

What?  He’s in concussion protocol and actually wanted to come back in the game.  I expect Taron in the lineup Sunday night.

That this is likely one the best chances for the Bills to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs in the Allen/Mahomes era. Bills home game, hitting their stride at the right time when the Chiefs have been lackluster...it seems like the moment to put all the chips in.

I'm not saying it's impossible. But sometime there is a window that you see. A moment where if the choice is to rest a guy or play him, you give everything next year be damned. With the way we were playing in 2021, are you going to say we shouldn't have beaten the Bengals and Rams?

    Suit 'em all.

I have no idea what “suit ‘em all” means.  But how often are people wrong about their “windows?”  The Bills will have Josh Allen, health allowing, for another 10 years!  Their “window” isn’t closing this year.

As much as I dislike Nick Wright and think he is a blatant homer...that's not wrong.

This is the worst receiving group the Chiefs have had in some time. They have $70 million more cap space than us next year. They are coming to our house. This seems like the moment to put it all on the line.

And the Bills have a MASH unit on defense.  When you speak in ultimatums and extremes you are typically wrong.  This isn’t the last chance the Bills have to beat KC in the playoffs.  It’s a great opportunity but nothing is ever guaranteed or “easy” in the NFL.

As fans we’d all be better off to ignore all the noise and just enjoy the football this weekend.

    Go Bills!!!

Looked blatantly late to me. Defender hadn't left his feet.

This.  Before Jack left his feet Josh was into his slide.  It was a pretty easy call.

And yes, Josh does "flop" for unnecessary roughness penalties; I cringe when he does it but he also probably doesn't get calls other QBs do because he is such a freaking beast.
