And how many more seasons of this do you really want watch exactly? Me personally, I've seen enough of McDermott, he's not HC material and many of you know that, why prolong the inevitable?

I know what your saying. I feel that way about Allen. Last drive was a horror show. But as a HC mcdermott is 6-3.

If the Bills miss the playoff's, and I am Pegula, I tell Beane to fire McDermott and start a HC search, and Beane has full say on who to hire, no butting in from the owners. I personally would do that no matter what, because even if the Bills sneak into the playoff's with this pitifull schedule, McDermott is showing he can't coach in this modern era of football. It's simply a waste of everyone's time to keep him on as HC.

All depends on the record surely. 10-6, 9-7 he's not getting the can.

I disagree.  WRs are wide open.  It’s on the QB to execute.  The OC should not go run heavy  to hide JA’s deficiencies.  Cleveland was in cover zero most of the game. The plays were there, the QB wasn’t.

This is what I think. But the last drive I was trying to work out if that was on mcd getting involved in the playcalling rather than on Allen which I felt was the case for the majority of the game.

The point is they should have come in focusing on the run. This is not the first time the coaching staff has tried to out smart opponents by going with the opposite and it doesn’t work. When the Bills have faced teams with a weak secondary they ran the ball.  it’s been just the opposite when they’ve faced weak run teams as they’ve passed the ball. When Josh struggled they still called pass plays instead of helping him out by running the ball.

Josh can be better no doubt  but Daboll can be better. You have to be smarter with a second year project QB and he’s not setting him up for success. Josh is what he is at this point. He’s not going to be a hall of farmer all of a sudden. He’s going to give you good plays and bad plays but you have to set him up for success and not running the ball more is not helping him. Sitting on the ball at the end of the game after Josh hit two big throws is not helping him especially when he’s been one of the better 4th quarter QB’s in the league. I put that last drive on Coach McD more than Daboll but Daboll can be better.

He needs to fire himself after what he did to end the game.

Was awful last drive. Did he veto a call or something?

I see what you mean, not letting Allen go for it. One thing Allen might be is a 'hall of farmer' though.

Looking at the big picture, I think the offense and defense are better than they were last year, and are on track to get even better next year.

My concern , like most everyone else's, is the offense. The total is less than the sum of its parts. The OL is ranked higher. Brown and Beasley are upgrades from last year, and so are Singletary and Gore. Allen has a higher passing percentage. It might not be full of Pro Bowlers, but you'd think by looking at the roster the offense would be more productive. Is Allen regressing? Is it the play calling? Honestly, I don't have an answer.

Yeah they are making a good point on the radio. When does a good team ever look like they did on the last drive? They had a chance there with 1 minute and one timeout and just slowed down and didn't look like they knew what they were doing.

This is most likely what is going down. This is a really bad look for our FA, aside from the QB position you don't draft 1st rd D lineman as development player.

Is he a bust or what? if not he needs to play.

    Should have drafted Metcalf.

    FO? Yeah and Ford.

I don’t think he was.  I don’t think McDermott wanted to kick a 53 yard FG to tie it.  Allen just missed.

He said in his presser pretty much that they were looking to tie. Allen said they were playing for the 30 yard line.

Obviously they were looking for closer.

Browns are not a good offense, neither are the Redskins.  The Eagles are good, and we got blown out.  This is a bend but don't break defense, which still is having problems stopping the run, though was supposed to have been fixed.  Guess not.

Yes, game day management.  Challenges, where (field position) and when to go for FGs vs 1st down, play calls when going for 3rd or 4th down, soft/zone defense, type of personnel executing schemes, and the schemes themselves.  Defensively, McD seems to have the wrong personnel at MLB and D-line (need more one-tech DT, DE needs upgraded) running his scheme, and/or the scheme is too rigid to work consistently.  This starts to explain the rush D problems and why they are not being fixed.  Offensively, Daboll (It would seem) is being left to his own devices with minimal input from McD.  Third and three throw a long ball?  Fourteen total RB rushing attempts even though Singletary can be considered a playmaker on offense?  SpT...blocked punts, muffed punts, leading to opponent scores.  Did McD leave Danny Crossman at SpT coord and put a disguise on him?

Offense is a concern, though due to Daboll, IMO.  Josh has his young project QB issues, but Daboll isn't helping things.  His offense is too complex and pass heavy for a young QB and guys new to the Bills organization.

I've heard enough of this "Process" crap, which is nothing by a platitude designed to buy him more time.  The players may be subject to the Process, but are the coaches?  I wonder...

Hm. And the final drive on offence was disappointing.

In the game I watched I saw some excellent throws, throws that I'm not sure all starting calibre NFL QBs can make. I also saw today, as I have in the past, a number of passes to open receivers that, while catchable, had placement that was bad enuf to unnecessarily increase the degree of difficulty, resulting in incompletions and lost YAC opportunities. And as for his long ball, I really don't know what is going on there. But I think there is a dearth of QB friendly throws that could also be productive with too much weight being placed on Allen's shoulders to execute an aggressive pass happy attack. Neither Allen nor his complement of skill position players are capable of that right now. This is not the greatest show on turf. Allen may never make it but Daboll and McD are not doing him any favours.

    Fair comment

I would never say there were not SOME great throws in the game.

It's the rest that drives me nuts.

That is a very low bar that has been set.  This defense, the one on the field today, is not a top 10 defense.

I agree with what you said in an earlier post that at 6-3 it is too early to call for McD's head; the organization can't keep doing that and expect to be better than 7-9.  But McD needs to change the way he coaches, as well as what he expects from his coordinators.

Mcds defense is holding teams generally to 20 points or less. That's pretty good. If you mean the way he coaches in terms of game day etc then I'm open to hearing that. The record is everything for mcdermott.

The offence is what worries me under mcdermott.

Not today and not the people on here making it.

If the shoe fits where it

That's just as well then. ?. No decisions should be made at 6-3.

If it's still the case later in the season that Allen, Ford, Oliver, Edmunds are struggling Beane and folks will know their jobs are on the line in the not so distant future.
