  1. I think there are a few small surprises on defense. Bernard being #2 at MLB…. Nick McCloud being officially a Safety. …Neal being officially the #2 slot corner…

So McCloud’s path to the roster goes thru Hamlin…. Tough.

Was Bernard always drafted to be our backup MLB this year?

And, signing Neal doesn’t look so strange now…

And the Bills have both Cook and Shakir working on returners as I have hoped….

I wonder if Shakir will get many snaps this year. I watched him tear apart my Wyoming Cowboys for four years and he seemed like a sure fire NFL talent. He was impossible to guard. Excited to see what he can do

I’m excited to see if he can play outside. Surpassing Kumerow and Hodgins in the process….

Having the kind of year Davis did as a rookie….

  3. It would be interesting to see how our offense would function with a mediocre QB….

I mean, how good is the offense without JA?

if we have our five starting OL I think the OL is pretty good.

I think our weapons are pretty good too… might be missing an OBJ might not….

I just rewatched the chefs playoff game and Josh made so many plays being Josh…

Although Davis was on fire…. Diggs was doubled mostly I guess?  Beasley was injured and ineffective….

Sanders caught a couple…. Singletary looked OK…. Probably a bit nervous… I think he missed a huge cutback… I think he matured in that game though and will be better this year….

I have to watch again but I’m thinking Brown got taken to school most of the game but Allen knew the pass rusher was coming and avoided him…. Allen was so freakin good. Mahomes as well unfortunately…. I think our defense played better than I thought initially. I couldn’t admit that Mahomes is just that good and blamed the D…especially when you consider Tre and Star did not play.

Finally, I think the refs favored KC and that could be seen as the difference in the game and that’s why you want home field advantage….

I just don't see the value for the position. Nor do I see him being that good at FB to warrant anything but league minimum.

Maybe we will see more this year. I would not carry a FB and would either use Moss or a backup TE at FB if it was needed.

Like others said another overpay for special teams. I would have rather seen that money used on a veteran CB.

So you like to allow other teams to score TDs on kick-off returns and punt returns; is that it?

  5. I think we stay the course….

Our current CBs are going to step it up….

    No need to panic.

Now the OL, on the other hand…. We need a better sixth OL…. Someone who can push Quessenberry to 7th and Doyle to 8th….

imho, that is…. That is where we need the most help….the OL….

Miller will definitely help Oliver.  I see Oliver around 8 sacks this year.

They are physically about the same but Donald is more fluid which makes him nearly unstoppable.  Great first step, strength, fluid and great hands.

Oliver is first step and power right now.  If his hands get much better, he will be much more dangerous.

I’d say the biggest difference between the two is that Donald always took to coaching and Ed did not. Being from a small school and not really liking his coaches and having tremendous success without coaching sealed the deal for Oliver  who needed a couple years to realize how good the NFL is… way behind Donald at this point, he has been learning for a couple years now and training harder than he used to….He’s getting better now but is still far behind Donald in a lot of ways…. Perhaps hand-fighting is number one? Though, I recall, Ed is Abendextorous…. He should be very good at hand fighting…. And it is something how good of a one-tech Ed is but at the same time, a complete shame on us he had to play one-tech for us….

I guess I am lacking creativity.  Looking for ideas on variations of GO BILLS for a vanity plate.  GO BILLS, GO BILLZ, GOBILLS, and GOBILLZ are all taken, and thats the max characters.  Would really like to find some variation of this, but I'm coming up blank.  Any ideas?

You could go Go Biells in our of the one color man whose name escapes me….

Bills were not just flat.  Steelers appeared to plan all off season for Buffalo match after Bills beat down of Steelers previous time. Tomlin and Coach McD have a rivalry going.  Unfortunately for Steelers the attention to a non-AFCN opponent hurt them in rest of season.

Yeah, Buffalo’s OL was destroyed by Pittsburgh pass rush and Allen was antsy all game just about… You have to protect your QB!

I hope Kromer can develop some backups out of thin air really… We have Quessenberry who is absolutely our 6th man this year … I hope he watching Thursday night though…. Our five starters are very good when healthy…. We have to get them healthy…. While we have a lot of time, I’d like the starters together for about two weeks and for them to get a little practice in the panthers game.

Last year we’ve seen Allen poorly protected and saw the results and we’ve seen him well-protected and saw the results…. We need to protect Allen.

Maybe Kromer can work with Doyle to be the 7th OL? I think he’s strictly a RT only…. And Dion Dawkins is our #1 guy in our list of players who cannot get hurt not counting Josh… Dion has no backup.

Next is Diggs but that’s a different story. But right now, we don’t know who is Stefon’s primary backup. Is it Shakir? I sure hope he can win that job…. We need him too… We need a guy that can rest both Davis and Diggs (luckily,  not at the same time!)

IDK about our secondary the first six weeks. Kaiir will be raw. Tre will be too….How do we overcome that?  Elam has to play and take his lumps. Tre has to play and take his lumps…. All seven of our first seven opponents are pretty damn good. It’s going to be tough…

  9. “When the team is ready, the QB appears…”

It didn’t happen quite that way but it is close….

Step one was build a defense so the QB doesn’t get huge regrets from making a mistake or is afraid to make a mistake.

    Nobody ever gets step one….

My greatest regret is that don’t have a better OL…. I know it’s good, but I don’t like our depth… things could get ugly if we sustain injuries there.

My other regret is that this is who I would have drafted this year …

Christian Watson,  Cam Taylor Brit,  Dylan Parham, Terrel Bernard…..

I’m so torn, I love our draft. I love our top pick….

Its just that Watson is a 6’4” burner that might win rookie of the year…. I thought he could be JA’s  WR for life partner….

Just an elite weapon. And I just don’t think the Bills will ever have a shot at a guy like that again… If he went to a big school he would have been a top five pick… I wish we could have fin angled both somehow….

    and an OL….

    LOL!

I want a perfect team. Is that too much to ask?

  10. 3 hours ago, Limeaid said:

Kramer being formerly OL coach of Rams should have lots of insight on that team.

Let’s hope Kromer’s starting five is well enough to start and finish…

I think that, and Tre White.

If we get both, if we’re healthy overall, we’re the better team AND we have the better QB….

if our OL gives Josh that 2.5 sec free time, Josh can handle the rest and we have multiple matchups in our favor including Davis, Crowder and Knox…. We should be able to gain ground on the run too and that will keep us out of bad third downs hopefully….

This is not the Rams team that won the Super Bowl. It had a lot of losses it must make up for and the Bills are not the same team from last season either; we’re much better…. It’s not just Von either…. Our DL is new and improved…. Kaiir Elam is a huge add. You’ll see…. I think the biggest add this year for the OL is not Aaron Kromer, it is Roger Saffold. The guy is just a beast. He will be matched up vs. the great Aaron Donald and while we lose that matchup I think Roger knows what he needs help with… Hopefully theOL is healthy and we can provide Saffold with the help he needs. If we can just slow AD down, so that JA sees him coming, Josh can run away hopefully (or get rid of the ball.)  I’d take AD over VM anyway of the week. Particularly because AD is younger. But the rams retired their LT and someone has to figure out how to block VM…We win that matchup…The Rams lost two OL…. Hopefully, our DL can start the year with a big game. When I matchup the two teams like OL to OL most of the matchups are a tie I think….

But if Tre White plays and Kaiir has the camp I think he is going to have, we win secondary big time. We also win QB…easy enough, Josh is a lot better imho… all QBs need protection though and Josh is no different that’s why our OL is so key…. We have got to be healthy there…

If both teams as they are now are 100% healthy I like the Bills….

    Bills - 35, Rams - 27….. I like the 8 point gap. It could be Bills 28 - Rams 20….

The Bills healthy have no real weakness. The Rams cannot say that. Plus Allen > Stafford….

I give the rams home field advantage otherwise it would be worse, imho….

The rams simply lost too many players…. And one of the good ones came to us!

List: VM, LTAndy Whitfield, NT S. Joseph, 2nd outside CB Darious Williams, R. Woods, OBJ, RG Corbett, RB Sony Michel, LB TonyReader, Plus they lost their OC and multiple position coaches…

I don’t want to hear about players the Bills lost, or our OC and coaches, the rams have it worse. The Bills are clearly a better team this year while the rams are clearly worse off…. Even withBobby Wagner…

  11. Davis should have monster game vs. the rams. I don’t think they have a corner that can watch him… also Crowder should have a big game as well…. Knox maybe too…. Knox probably gets covered by a Safety , can Bobby Wagner watch Cook?  IDK?

Butthe rams really don’t have an answer for Davis, Crowder and Knox…. If our OLholds up, we should have little problem moving the ball. We’ll probably catch Ramsey trying to cheat and hit Diggs for a big gainer at some point as well. Ramsey will hate how Davis and Co. are tearing them up and he’ll leave Diggs which is a huge mistake. I think this happened the last time we played the rams only now their secondary is worse minus Darius Williams and Eric Weddle…. The are built to matchup offensively but our defense is clearly better than theirs and we have the better QB…. The rams have their own OL problems as well…

    Bills win, 32 - 27…..

Bills have plenty of question marks. They shouldn’t be clear favorites. They should be in the conversation.

While I think that is kind of true, I also think if you had to pick a best, you’d pick the Bills….

I think mainly because we have the best player at the most important position in Josh Allen.

We have five solid starters on the OL but our depth is very questionable….This is our biggest weakness I think.

We are solid in the weapons department but an OBJ signing would give us an A+ And this means we probably don’t have an A+ without him. If Khalil Shakir can rest Diggs and Davis we’re close to an A….

DL - Too many unknowns at this point but the worse we have here is adequate I think. That’s the floor and the ceiling is very good.

Von is a big time addition. Ed is finally a quality player. We improved the one-tech position with JJ and the DT named Tim. This is a big change for the positive. Groot and Basham are no longer rookies and AJ is finding his way too, imho… Shaq and Jordan provide excellent depth…. So the questions are how is Leslie going to play Von? The rest of the DL? How good exactly are all our young players? And of course, injuries will factor in….

I like our LBs …. Especially behind an improved DL…and in front of a very improved secondary. Kaiir is going to be very solid, we just don’t know exactly when. LOL, he could be matched-up one on one with Robinson in week one. LOL, and I don’t know if he ever covered anybody like that before? There’s no one really like that on the Bills. He’s huge! But Elam should match up with him very well athletically. We probably throw a safety over Kupp no matter who plays on most downs. TJ will matchup with Jefferson. Those are great matchups for both squads. Just a show! Our secondary if it stays relatively healthy this year will be talked about as the best in the NFL this year. Especially if theDL turns out to be very good.

So not only do we have the best player, it very well could be that we really don’t have any weaknesses as well. And brother, that’s phenomenal and I think, should be the reason why we are ranked #1….

Realistically given that I believe Tre starts on IL and won't be back till - I'm saying Sunday night v Packers end of October -

No one should panic if the season plays out like this:

    We lose week 1.

    Start the year 3-3.

New pieces, New OC, young CBs.....might be an adjustment period.

But by week 8 vs Green Bay after a week 7 bye....

    Things start to click

    Dorsey settles in as OC

    Tre gets better every week

    Elam looks like a star

The D and O lines gel again.

Gabe Davis breakout in full effect.

We go 9-2 down the stretch (we could win all 11 - I fear no team with this group fully healthy.

Steam roll into the 1 seed at 12-5 (exact record I think wins the 1 seed).

I won’t panic if we start 3-3 but I don’t see it happening. The energy at so-fi in week one is going to be amazing with their unfolding of banners, etc. re: the SB win… and it’s going to take time and the Bills will have to stand there and take it but if they can contain their energy for the game we should win it. The rams have had as many changes as we have had and so I think that cancels out.

We have the better QB, I’d say for week one just about everything else cancels out. If I was forced to say who has the better unit…

QB - Bills , OL - tie if our starting five is there maybe we have the better line… WR - Tie, RB with Cook added a tie again. LOL, it really is that tight. The rams lost their best OL and two starters overall. They’re not the team that won the SB at all…. They lost their NT and Von so I say Tie at DL as well…. LB - I will go with a tie again… LOL, they have Bobby Wagner so I’ll say tie again. The secondary is interesting. Will Tre play? Will Elam choke? With all the unknown I will go tie again but I like our secondary better. Both overall starters and depth. Their home-field advantage, like I said is going to be extra big, but if Josh plays like last year we’re going to win….

Imo he would have to have a monster season this year for the Bills to consider re-signing him to a new contract. I don’t see that happening due to the amount of weapons that the Bills have this year so if I were to venture a guess where he’d end up it wouldn’t surprise me if he were to become a Miami Dolphin. He’s a Florida boy and that state is very tax friendly for NFL players.

I hope he has a good enough year that some team offers him some serious cash…. Good luck to him, I say!

  15. I’ll go LA, KC, LV, Denver….. with LA, KC and LV making the playoffs…..

I’m just not sold on the broncos. Nate Hackett at the helm - not saying he will suck but he’s entirely unproven as a HC. Russ is certainly an improvement at Qb but they seem like a last place team in that division. Their D was decent but that coach is gone, they have some good players but just don’t see it.

You’re right. The rest of the division is just better….

Much has been made of the 2 TE set potential with Howard and Knox. I think featuring those sets would add a wrinkle to what the opposing defense has to prepare for, even if we don't use it often. Not to mention adding the possibility of play action in scenarios that in the Dabol era were clear running formations. However very little has been made of OJ and Dawson's combined injury history. Don't get me wrong, the upside for their tandem is amazing. The ceiling is sky high. But with a longer season and early bye week, it's not unreasonable to prepare for the eventuality that we'll be without either or both of them at some point. Assuming Dorsey is serious about 2 TE sets, are we going to roster an extra TE at the cost of an RB? Do we utilize Morris as a FB/TE hybrid? Are we keeping Wydermyer around for any other reason than he's 6'5" and spells his name weirdly? And just what exactly do we have in Sweeney?

It think just two TEs make it, Howard is a better blocker than Sweeney or anybody else but he is really too slow now to be that much of a weapon. I think Sweeney got f***ed over by Covid…

Cook and Shakir change the playbook, but If OBJ signs look for more of the same except for Josh trying to check it down more than last year…. But at the same time, you have to let Josh be Josh and dominate the game.
