I don’t find Buck/Aikman annoying as much as Aikman is just flat out boring with zero personality.

    Are you kidding me?

Aikman: “When I was with the cowboys….” And that’s it. That’s all he can offer and it is ANNOYING….

    I went with 12-5

1 loss within the division (not the Jets lol)

1 loss to a random team that Bills are favored against (NFC North opponent?)

3 losses against playoff caliber teams (looking like 6-7 such games on schedule - decided to split 'em)

We’re favored vs. the SB champs on the road, we’ll be favored each week I Billieve….

    20 - 0…..

Hoping to see more from him.  Wondering if he's the kind of guy who needs touches to get into a rhythm.

I think the Bills did hide the way they are going to play him a little bit.
I hope he isn’t the kind of back that needs reps to get going. WRs play when they get a target, or a chance, we need our backs to ready for anything and to relish blocking (along with our WRs.)

Everyone blocks well, the offense should be fine.

He averaged 4.6 ypc and 870 rushing yards last year.  He had 7 games last year with single digit attempts.  He was splitting reps with Moss early on and we had terrible run blocking ahead of him….he started getting

the lions share in the last 4-5 games.

I think this year he does it.  He will get the majority share of the carries and I don’t see our run blocking being as bad this year.

While I think that he is ready and good enough to do it, I don’t think the carries are there. Especially if the Bills figure out a way to keep three backs active on game days. Exactly like what they did in the preseason. Gave the red-zone carries to Moss. If they do that, no way Devin makes it.

I'm a little worried.  Both Safety's are banged up and are not that young.  We have White out for who knows how long.  He might come back less than 100%.    We might be starting a rookie CB on one side.  The other CB doesn't have a lot of experience.  Just in our division, we make fun of Tua here a lot, but Waddle, Gisecki, and Hill are no jokes.   How will we defend Kupp?  Nervous.

Maybe the first few games things might get squirrely…but our coaches will be sure to give them what they can do…

This is, unequivocally, a Super Bowl roster and the secondary is going to be a huge strength of this team once they settle in…

Let me preface this by saying I love Stefon Diggs.  This is not an advocation to move on from him.  But my question stems from the fact that 2 other teams (GB and KC) with an Ellie QB have moved on from there true #1 WR’s.  If this season plays out well for them will this be a trend?

IDK, but I for one, feel both GB and KC will pay for dumping their stars when they meet up with great teams. For KC, that is going to be about every week. Look at their schedule, talk about tough…. No way they win the division in my opinion but I do think they’ll be a dangerous wild card….. GB will probably win home field again with their super easy schedule, but won’t make it to the show yet again. If they somehow do make it, the AFC will trounce them.

I have this weird feeling about cook... That it almost seems like the bills are hiding him.

Between reports of how great he's looked, my own eyes telling me he's dangerous, and the fact he's a rookie but has gotten SO few touches in the preseason, makes me think maybe they are holding their cards close to the vest and he's in for major playing time this year.

Interesting that the rookie has less touches than the other RBs. Without looking at the stats, probably similar touches to Singletary but markedly less than moss (and of course blackshear).

I would not be entirely surprised if moss was a surprise cut.

I for one, doubt it, but do think it is in the realm of possibilty.

    Like…. Why not?

Blackshear has easily outperformed him plus return kicks like he has been doing it all his life. The one thing I don’t know is if he can block. He’s pretty small but so was the Thurmanator. So… we don’t know if he can block or not. The way he does everything else, I would not be very surprised if he could block just fine. The kid is a natural.

I think most people don’t see a path because of two things. Moss was a third round pick and Beane talks up Moss every chance he gets.  Trust your eyes, Blackshear can play in this league and play well. I know it’s just preseason but he looks so damn natural….

    Your thoughts

I think it is as good as any…. I don’t think they keep four true RBs and do keep 6 LBs but that’s me…. Blackshear has got the it factor. He can help anywhere, so I can’t fault your logic there at all….

I think I might really go with Blackshear over Moss. Maybe we can trade him?

or maybe we can trade Blackshear? IDK?

I don’t like the idea of losing Blackshear. I don’t think he hits our practice squad with that return ability.

  9. Wow! I’m having a chicken and egg kind of moment here. While I know coaches can mean everything to a team. I also know talent usually wins. I knew Kromer would have an impact but averaging over eight yards a carry vs. a supposedly good defense for four quarters in a preseason game? From the Bills? Without Josh running? Eight yards!

I loved hearing Ford’s humility there in that short quote. When you’re humble, you can really learn a lot.

Another thing is in this day and age of extreme competition you wouldn’t think offensive line coaches could have a large gap between them, but here we are reading about Aaron Kromer again after his first tour in Buffalo….when he did the same exact thing! He had a lot of talent though….in…. Glenn, Cognito, Wood and Miller…Three really good OL and Miller or was it Mills? wasn’t bad….

Im very glad the Bills have both extreme talent and excellent coaching. With a phenomenal number of current or ex-coordinators on the coaching staff right now. Billieve or don’t but we have 8 of them now…..

PS - thanks for posting this….

Makes no sense to keep players who don't play ST that will either be inactive or get 4-5 snaps a game over a player who is critical on ST.

People act like if we keep Hodgins over Kumerow that he is going to be in the games a lot...he isn't. He will have minimal snaps and will not play teams. Doesn't make sense to keep players who won't play anyway over guys who are core ST players.

We have to build an astounding STs group or it will haunt us all year… Having said that the team needs to add depth. If Hodgins made it he’d be the #4 flanker or outside WR. He could snaps resting Diggs or Davis or in four and five WR sets. Why you want to really keep him is in case of injury. If Diggs, Davis or Shakir suffers an injury, Hodgins is playing more. Not to say Kumerow couldn’t do that, I don’t know. Lastly, Hodgins has begun working on Special teams recently…..

I do wonder about Matekevich.  They can save some money there so if someone else can perform the special teams role then I could see that happening.

Our backup LBs are playing very well. I don’t know about Special Teams though….I didn’t watch Denver yet, but Joe Giles-Harris made some beautiful tackles vs. the colts….then Spector and Bernard…

Curious your thoughts on Rams at 5? Sum of parts exceeded last year and now there more barren?

What? They had a very solid roster last year, are you kidding me?

This year, IDK, they lost a LOT of key players… We’ll see…. But they still have a solid QB, a decent OL maybe, Maybe the best WR in football? Plus a nice stable. A good RB room.especially the kid at the top.

They have the greatest defender in the game. Now they signed Bobby Wagner…

    they have Jalen Ramsey….

I’d put them at #2 in the NFC….

I like that the eagles got that WR and that DT but let’s not think they have a very solid roster….

Yeah, that really is the issue.  Good teams have good players, and good players want to get paid.  Beane's strategy in building the Bills has included a few big splash free agents, but he has also depended a lot on acquiring young talent with a lot of upside, and then developing that talent.  Jordan Poyer was one of those.  I had to look it up, but I think he was signed after McDermott was named head coach, but before Beane was hired as GM.  Still, he was a promising young safety with Cleveland, though entirely unproven before Buffalo signed him.  If those young, talented players do develop, they are eventually going to get paid.  GMs of successful teams have to engage in a delicate balancing act to keep their teams on top.  Who do you give a big money deal to get the best bang for your buck, and who do you let go because the money is better spent elsewhere.   I don't envy Beane's position for the challenges he's facing.

I think you team breakdown of where you’re willing to spend money: QB then LT then CB then DL, etc… unfortunately, the Bills believe they can get a smart and good athlete that loves football and teach him the rest… I’d do the same….the two lowest I think are RB and Safety and that’s how you want to build a roster. BTW, slot CB is somewhere in the middle, not to be confused with outside cornerbacks. The good thing is all are millionaires. Just gotta learn how to invest that dough and not spend like an idiot.

Unless, of course, you’re a number one franchise QB… Then the money just comes in like a flood and you’ve got to hire someone to manage your vast fortune…make certain all your checks are cashed, etc….LOL…. Just crazy money for Josh….He ought to getting national commercials this year…. Hopefully he takes away Commercials from Rogers and Mayfield.

I think Reich is a great coach and was working miracles with Wentz last year until the end.  But Matt Ryan looked shockingly weak and old on Saturday and Foles is not any better.  I could see a 7-10 year for the Colts event though they are stacked in many positions.

He did I will admit. I will be surprised if he looks that poor in the regular season. I thought he played pretty decent last season though….Definitely not anywhere near Allen but might be able to get the ball to the right guy often enough….

  14. My list….

1 Buf. Best all-around team with best player. Only injuries could stop them, imho….just a loaded roster, including STs….

    2. SD. Similar to Bills but not quite there. Allen > Herbert, a little weaker defense in the middle…

    3. Cincy - Joe B and his weapons are for real. Good roster.

    4. KC - Crazy hard schedule and too much reliance on rookies this year. Beware Mahomes always.

    5. Ravens - not a fan when compared to top 4 AFC QBs. Allen - Mahomes - Burrow - Herbert.

    6. LV - Great team with new HC. Just doesn’t quite measure up with SD or KC, but might beat out KC for playoff spot.

    7. Colts - Are they Bills kryptonite? No, not again. Colts have nice talent though… I absolutely love Taylor, Nelson, Buckner…

    8. Denver - Great team with new HC, just doesn’t quite matchup with SD or KC….also could overtake KC due to KC schedule.

    9. Tennessee - this is the year the colts take them.

    10. Miami - Crazy to think they’re way down at 10 but….

    11. Pittsburgh - Dangerous DL, run game.

12.Cleveland -another loaded roster and their at the bottom over here. The browns are not ready again.

    13 pats - If jets weren’t the jets…..

    14. Jets - the jets….

    15. Jags - gave contract to Zay Jones.

    16. Houston. - it wasn’t that long ago they were good. Now? WTF?

If Davis (or Diggs) goes down for a couple games, who starts in his place?

Right now it’s definitely Khalil Shakir. On our first drive in which Shakir caught three passes, he lined up outside on every play….

I think he definitely can do it. He looks like a NFL already. I expect him to have a year similar to the one Gabriel Davis had his rookie year…. We’ve got this!

    Go Bills!

  16. 3 hours ago, Bruffalo said:

Punt god memes aside, I really think Shakir deserves an honorable mention.  He looked excellent.

And on our first series he lined up outside and dominated…. He is going to be another Gabriel Davis this year…. He’s going to get 500-600 yds. working from the outside and resting both Diggs and Davis at times…. Khalil is OUTSIDE WR option #3 for us this year!

    Go Bills!

  17. Unfortunately, the Bills and their fans aren’t lucky enough to live in a two QB world….

Herbert and Burrow are simply too good to ignore…are they as good? No, but they are true franchise QBs on good teams.

I will say I think the Bills with Josh Allen are going to beat the rams because Josh is better than Stafford and because most fans are completely underestimating how much the rams lost this offseason. Yes, our secondary won’t be ready on opening day but either will their’s.
