  1. Neither Levitre or Byrd are worth the money.

Wood is often injured, MAYBE they want to see if he can make it through a full season healthy?

CJ will get paid but at what price? He isn't AP and never will be so he won't see AP Type money. Problem is he and his agent will say and think he is the best and that causes issues.

Honestly I wouldnt' extend anyone at this point either. Wait until into the season and see how they are progressing. Inintialize contact with the agent and see what #'s they are thinking. If they are stupid #'s like Livitre or Byrd wants, forget it.

And people wonder why the Bills never make the playoffs...

  2. Difference is Bryd didn't recently have a pay raise like Peters did. Hopefully, Bryd won't sulk like a fat baby like Peters did and not answer phone calls or show up to work out of shape, putting teammates' health in jeopardy. But based on how Bryd carries himself, this shouldn't be a problem. And he should be the highest paid safety in football. Get it done.

Peters was UNDERPAID... If you go back and check, Peters was signed to play RT and then got shifted to the LT position. On top of that the Bills you might recall brought in a pair of stupidly expensive players. (LG-Derrick Dockery at 7.5 Million/yr and RT-Langston Walker at 5 Million/yr) If it were you, how would you have liked playing next to a stiff like Dockery who was actually being paid more than you??

Hopefully, the Bills don't screw this negotiation up like they did the Peters situation...

  3. Yes, missing games in 3 of 4 seasons is pretty much the definition of frail. Him missing "only" 2 games this past season is pretty much luck that the injury occurred late in the season instead of early in the season. If it happened in Game 1, he would've missed 12 games, right?

Compare this to Nassib, who got shoddier protection at Cuse, and started 38 straight games, never missing one.

Both these guys would be good choices at #8...

Barkley started all 4 years in HS and then again all 4 yrs at USC... His OLine problems were talked about on Gruden's QB camp...

Personally, I will not be disappointed with either Barkley or Nassib...

Each one seems to have the necessary skill sets to succeed...

  4. I actually think the Bills are going to avoid drafting a QB in the first three rounds but go heavy on offense. I would like to see WR and TE be the Bills first two picks then draft a OL round 3. Not that Kolb/Jackson is at all a good QB combo but I think that this QB class is so bad that the Bills want no part of it and that they would rather get targets for a QB this year so that next year when they draft a QB he has good tools to work with.

Based on what Buddy said to John Murphy, Buddy obviously thinks that there are at least two (2) Franchise QBs in this draft... and some other good QBs as well... QB in the 1st rd - bank on it...

  5. Not much to offer at qb in this year's draft. There are those on this board who would like us to take a 2d or third round choice at number 8 and "wish" him into a franchise qb. I don't see that happening. I think we might go qb at round 2 or even round 3 and go with the guy we just traded for for at least this year.

The Guy we just traded for??? Or do you mean the FA we just signed?

How does a QB prospect rise or fall at this stage? He played his games, he did his combine or pro day. They only thing that changes is buzz and buzz is often manufactured. See: Blaine Gabbert.

The media is frequently being fed disinformation by the various NFL teams to mask their true feeling about players they may be interested in taking...

  6. Every team has to let guys walk every year. They also have to replace them. The good ones choose the right spots, the bad ones the wrong. Levitre, at that price tag, is likely the right move.

What you said is partially true. Successful teams have to make these value decisions all the time... And they couldn't/shouldn't pay Levitre $7-8 Million per year... BUT... I don't see that "REPLACEMENT" you mentioned...

On a related note, I find it interesting to see so many of my fellow TBD posters espousing the idea of drafting Chance Warmack, another Guard, to replace Levitre... Wasn't drafting Levitre a mistake in itself because he is ONLY a guard (and therefore not worth $7-8Million per year) and now we want to replay that same mistake by again drafting a lowly unimportant position like OG in the 1st round?

You can't have it both ways folks... You simply can't demean the OG position by saying "we can always draft one in the lower rounds" (ESPECIALLY with Buddy's track record so far...) and if you are advocating draft Warmack you are setting yourself up for another failure down the road like Levitre...

A good GM would also have worked out a cheaper long term deal with Levitre last year and not wait till the last minute when you know his price is going to be significantly higher...
