I like that you put the AFCN over the AFCE.

For all the talk of our division, if Pickett makes any kind of jump and Watson, at all, resembles the guy he used to be.. that division is incredible.

There are so many "ifs" in AFC North

There’s a lot of valid criticism to level at Dorsey but facts are he called a top 3 offense as a first year play caller. Having Josh Allen at QB was certainly a boon, but I’m hopeful he’ll only get better with experience.

Shame about it is if he does get better, he gonna get scooped up as a HC lightning quick. I’d prefer it if next time we look for a proven OC who’s already flamed out as a HC… less learning curve and more likely chance they stick around even after success.

If the Bills win a SB with. a top-3 offense and Dorsey gets a HC gig, our new OC will be Joe Brady, our QB coach,

Dorsey’s process issues appear to be in the red zone.  He should hire someone specifically to help him with red zone offense.

Agree with that.  Last year the offense made too many mistakes in the Red Zone

While I generally agree with the sentiment of not overpaying for top tier RBs, I think the sticker price on an elite RB has come down considerably, and it may be a buyers market for those who can afford to pay a now reduced premium.

McBeane have also now invested three picks in the first three rounds at RB in their time here, and have yet to get the production they desire out of the position.

JT could definitely be the piece this year that helps get a team to the top of that mountain. This will definitely be a popular opinion, but I would even argue that adding a 24 yr old elite RB who the opposing defense has to gameplan for every Sunday, opens up the offense for 17 in a way that makes the aging elite WR, (who costs considerably more than the young elite RB), expendable next season.

I think James Cook's elite speed will force teams to game plan for him, especially with Kincaid on the field at the same time.

Just as Beane has heavily invested on RBs, he has also invested on DEs and the results so far all have been poor,  Hopefully,  Cook and Rosseau will be able to change the narrative.

    The "window" is a myth.

It will be varying degrees of open - but as long as Allen is QB, it's not closed.

I think we will let go off Hyde, Poyer, White, Miller on Defense next year as a salary cap purge to reset.  They will have an off year next year and then re-load again in 2025.   2023 should be a fun season.

After all the spend they have had on the defense, it is still their weakest link.

He looked like... a backup QB. Let's just say we want JA17 to be the incarnation of great health all year long. But don't expect backup QBs to all be the level of "Tom Brady replacing Drew Bledsoe"...

Yes I credited Dorsey and I loved what I was seeing. Even Diggs doing underneath routes. Talk about defenses not knowing what will come at them next! Quick passes, sweeps, runs... they can wear and demoralize defenses, while keeping some big plays anytime they want - just use more protection then. I hope that first drive is the style that remains. OLine will look much better too, as these quick plays help them, as an OC should do. That's what the Bengals did.

This is how they played the patriots in that playoffs game.  The sink-and-dunk helped making the perfect game

They’re playing the long game with Elam. He can start now but Dane Jackson has less mistakes. Elam will start at some point.

Elam was extremely good last year in the playoffs.

Agree with just about all of this.

Thought Edwards on the line looked good inside.

As soon as Nelson left the game Settle had a dominant series…. Wasn’t all that impressed with Bills pass rush in the 1st QTR though. AJE was invisible.

    Teams play Vanilla without scheming.

Very shrewd of Beane to avoid drafting defensive linemen who will command large second contracts.

No idea why this needs to be said every time a great player gets a big contract, but teams don't get into salary cap hell due to paying superstars big money.  They do it by overpaying mediocre players.

Star being the best of this example.

I disagree here. I really don't feel like the Bills are buying a SB. They have added Von but thats really the only big splash guy in quite awhile.

They are trying to develop giys like Boogie, AJ, Rousseau, Oliver, Elam, Cook, Davis, etc.

The majority of the Bills off season moves haven't been big money acquisitions.

The real issue or problem if you will is the lack of production from draft choices, misses, or mediocre play. Couple that with some past pick ups that didn't pan out.

In short, I'm not seeing how the regime is trying to buy a championship. Just my opinion.

Agree with you,  The Bills have tried to build through the draft and get mid-tier FA except for Morse and Miller (and previously Star),   Both Hyde and Poyer were low key signings that have gone on to build a great career with the Bills (and are as good as Bills draftees).

We have had good to reasonable success with Dawkins, White, Edmunds, Oliver, Singletary, Knox

Warming up for success are Cook, Elam, Groot and Benford, Davis

Hoping to have success with Brown, Basham and Epenesa, Shakir

Failed heavily with Cody Ford, Moss and several. 4th/5th rounders that did not make the team

The key to our SB run will be if Cook, Elam, Groot, Davis and Benford can turn in a super season and Brown, Basham, Shakir and Epenesa can hold their fort.   These players have the talent to be super stars in the NFL and this is the year for them to put it all together

Josh has made mistakes but I saw a piece yesterday where they were saying Burrow threw 15 INTs last season, yet he is thought of for some reason as so much better than Josh by people in the media. I think Allen gets judged differently because of the pre draft talk around him and his issues. People who thought he'd be a bust will grudgingly admit he's good when they have no other choice (when he plays out of his mind) but every time he throws a pick they're right there with the same old Allen talk.

I'm sort of glad he's not the media darling anymore because he's better with a chip on his shoulder. I wouldn't be too surprised to see him have an MVP year this season. But to shut these guys up he needs to win a Super Bowl and an MVP

I think people go by how we do in the playoffs...

    Mahomes beat Burrow and Lawrence

    Burrow beat Allen and Jackson

    Lawrence beat Herbert

Allen beat the Dolphins 3rd string QB

The way we got beat at home by the Bengals sticks a lot in the mind of media...We lost by 17 points at home when we were the favorites.  They man handled us at every point in the game.  A lot of the blame for that loss goes directly to how Josh played the game (fair or not).

We get it.  Josh is good, BUT it was a vastly different game in the late 90s-2000s and yes, Peyton threw a ton of pics early in his career.

The game was different in the 90s...but in the last twenty years the game is more or less the same..QBs have elevated themselves;  starting from Manning brothers,  Brady, Big Ben, Rivers, Rodgers  have all made it a QB driven league.  It is continuing with Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Dak etc.

Just a reminder of how lucky we are. 1st ballot h.o.f QB

The one missing stat here is the number of Fumbles and fumbles lost.  I think Josh has fumbled the ball a lot more than his contemporary QBs (due to the nature of his running game or holding on to the FB to make the big play).   It would be good to get that stats.

Yeah, we have to hope Beane got better at drafting over the last two years with Elam, Cook and Kincaid, Torrence and I Billieve he did….

I also think the Bills have done poorly developing AJ and Basham. It is not just the picks, imho… I wouldn’t be surprised if they both do better on another team.

    Go Bills!

I have lot of doubts about the DL Coach, Washington. He has been very underwhelming

Belichick.  He knows how to outmaneuver, gameplan specific opponents and make adjustments.  I don't like the guy.  I don't like his running up the scores as part of a temper tantrum after spygate.  I don't like his smug look.  But the man can coach.  He held us to 17 points of offense in XXV after we just put 41 (missed PAT) on the Raiders in the AFC Championship Game.  He mounted the comeback against Atlanta when they were dead to rights.  He found a way to disrupt the Rams offense by making formation changes after the coach/qb helmet feed was turned off each play.  He saw new QBs coming into the East and tried to wreck them before they got their feet under them.  Allen recovered.  Darnold never did.

As a fan, it wouldn't be right.  But objectively, I think he'd be the best for the job.

I think those small adjustments are the difference between winning and losing in the playoffs.

Davis had 6 catches 93 yards and a TD in that game.  Guess Peterson didn't know everything.  We were up 3 scores with 2:00 left in the third quarter.  Bad ball management, bad defense, and fumbling in your own end zone caused that.  None of those things had to do with Davis.  Davis is as much a decoy as Diggs he's just easier to stop but the cost should be underneath throws which Beasley used to make and Josh used to throw.  Josh frequently looked off easier throws and threw deep and I'm guessing it had as much to do with not trusting the guys underneath as it did with over estimating what Davis could do.  My guess is a healthy dose of a running game (I still don't trust them to commit to it) and some of our off season additions should address those things.

    Agreed.

Marino from Locked on Bills had a good theory...Davis was asked to stay back to block (due to the poor OL) and take the short routes.  Davis does not have the slot-guys speed nor step to separate from the DB.  Allen could never find Davis for the short throws and went more  the longer route.  This was even observed by Beane and Schoen during the draft.  They found him starting slow and then closing fast....you can imply that Davis has no chance as a slot receiver but has the ability to get consistent separation on the long ball.

Staying healthy and hope our young guys take a leap. Missing Daquan, Von and Hyde in the Bengals gm killed us. Not to mention Hamlin n playing with a 3rd string S. I love that we're being a bit overlooked vs last year being SB favorites

Do remember that the Bengals OL was missing most of their starters for the game and yet they manhandled us on that evening.

I listened to the whole episode and I don't have a problem with anything Florio and Simms said. They're exactly right - McDermott was in damage control in his Wednesday presser. The messaging was not consistent from one day to the next. The QB had an awkward 11 minute press conference where he had to try to diffuse the situation. It was a major PR blunder from a regime that has been much more buttoned up in the past.

I think this is a problem.  Until now, the BIlls have been perceived as a well-run professional organization and that they know what they are doing. That is what helped us get FA such as Miller, Floyd, Ford etc.   The handling of this business (or inability to handle) is going to raise eyebrows in the future as to the capabilty of this organization.
