  1. What, the Catholic Church is a better analogy? I agree. LOL

My point is that B-Man seems to think gay people are pedophiles, and that we can't say that simply because of the lefties and their overly-PC culture. Not to mention it was a terrible analogy. It speaks to the man's intelligence and how much weight should be given to his thought process IMO.

Now that we've agreed that comparing a pedophile to a homosexual isn't a strong analogy, and we've decided to run with "what is the hetero community going to do about the rape of girls?" as a proxy for "what are gun owners going to do about psychotic mass murderers?", can we get back to the point?

  2. Well-played you SOB! :nana:

You want to know what I think it means? It means not acting black enough that white people don't trust you or are outwardly hostile towards you. That's what it boils down to. To be a "brother" you have to be held down by whitey! If you're equal with whitey, in education, work, intellect, etc. then you ain't being held down!

Not only is RG3 not being held down, hes a collaborator. Taking whitey's dollar and preferential treatment and not sticking it to the man somehow through futile, self-destructive behavior.

At some point black was defined as a rejection of white, and white was seen as going to school and getting a 9 to 5. This bull **** distinction leaves little room for social advancement. As if disadvantaged kids in a tough situations across the country didn't have enough to worry about, they get to see people disowned by their supposed community just for daring to make something of themselves. Thats a disgusting lesson to learn.

  3. That the media gives them credibility... I just do not see it.

So first I blamed the media, then I'm the idiot who advocated some type of control over the media by agencies or forces unknown, then you finally read my original post and make an attempt to comprehend what was written and all you can muster is "I don't see it."? Fine work.

If you don't see it, go back and take a look at VA Tech. Take a look at how many of that loser's self snapshots posing in camo, holding multiple guns, and knives that were aired. His ridiculous recorded monologues were aired, blaming jesus for torturing him. Media outlets published his atrocious screen plays, Richard McBeef and some other abortion which was a ripoff of a Guns N' Roses song. They go to incredible lengths to describe how "chilling" he looks, how frightening. Are you telling me that some other loser with an axe to grind who feels somehow marginalized by a cruel society isn't taking note of how much national attention committing heinous crimes will get you?

Sports provides a very simple example of the copy cat phenomenon and a simple self imposed response. For years idiots seeking attention jumped over the rail and took to the field to streak, cause a scene, get attention. With growing numbers of jackasses looking for their 15 minutes of fame, networks decided not to air these morons. Cameras cut away, little to no mention of whats going on. They're sending a clear message to attention whores everywhere that we're not going to acknowledge you. People still do it, but media has at least self censored and does not recognize those seeking to be noticed.

Diminishing the coverage of mass murderer will not end the violence, but maybe these psychos will find another outlet for their violence if shooting up a school isn't a guaranteed month of 24/7 fame and recognition.

  4. You don't think I am tore up about this? Why do you think I haul off when some idiot makes an asinine comment about controlling the media, yet controlling the weapons is not an option? You are talking about number 1 and 2 of the USC in the same breath...

Controlling the media? Did you make any attempt to understand the simple point I made? At least Buftex had the good sense to disappear for another month after making an ass of himself. You keep on digging?

  5. You didn't suggest that the media's attention to the shooters was feeding the craving these "losers" have for attention?

If that wasn't what you were trying to say, what were you trying to say?

Yes, I stated that crazy, attention starved sociopaths know that they can get noticed and have their 15 minutes of fame by shooting up a public place. How the hell have you assumed causality from that idea?

  6. The more these public shootings happen, the more they happen. You can't stop crazy, but I have an issue with the way the media has covered such events. I can give them a pass for Columbine, since it was really the first of its kind in the modern 24 hour news cycle, but subsequent shootings like VA Tech, Dark Knight Rises, Norway, etc. the coverage strikes me as irresponsible.

The murderers aren't glorified, but they are given some credibility. The news shows pics of these guys in fatigues, wearing kevlar, posing with guns, anchors describe the photos as chilling. They cover the "detailed, military like" planning that went into the "attack". MSM describes these losers like commandos, and every loser who shoots up a school or mall gets their 15 minutes of fame. And the attention is what most of these losers are looking for.

I hope that future reporting largely ignores the perpetrators of these acts or derides them like the losers they are.

  7. My post was at most slightly exaggerated. He loves to write the positivity, which is cool....I'd rather that then constant negativity.... But makes it hard to get excited about pieces like this. As I said, weeks before Williams was rated the worst in the league he was pushing the next great pair angle. Finding the counter balance will help his articles greatly and if he wants to push hits for his articles on here I think it's fair to evaluate these as professional articles and not just message board posts. Once the link is there readers put a certain credibility and if i don't think it's credible I think it's fair to provide that, even if he's a fellow fan and seemingly all around good guy. I like his goal but think he needs to be more objective and less excited fan if he's going to link articles.

What is it about poorly written, poorly conceived, fluff pieces absent of any true insight or analysis that doesn't excite you?

  8. Two points.

That's a pretty high BAL although different people function differently at the same blood alcohol level.

Also some people act differently than others when intoxicated.

As a person who admittedly had lots of practice driving while intoxicated in my younger days, I would always give myself a lecture before firing the ignition. I would drive more slowly, try to be more alert, and generally be careful. I'd remind myself to not be in a hurry and to not race idiots.

Conversely, some people drive more aggressively when they're intoxicated.

My only theory that would somewhat explain it is that he was so guilt-ridden and ashamed at what happened that he couldn't face his best buddy.

    He lacked the moral courage.

From some of the reports I've heard, Brent was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph when he flipped and rolled his car a dozen times. I think, well hope, that Brent was essentially shell shocked given the trauma of the accident and his intoxication, and could not fully comprehend the situation.
