Mcfadden's on 2nd avenue in New York City is where you go to watch the Bills. If it's anything like it used to be, you'd better get there early. The place absolutely rocks.
NYC Bills Backers moved on from McFadden's a few years ago. Penn 6 is the current Bills Backers bar in Manhattan I believe.

Just once, ONCE, it would be refreshing to see an insincere thank you thread. One dripping with sarcasm and spite. Is that too much to ask?

I'm curious to see what they believe fans won't need. Bathrooms? Concessions? %10 of seats still missing?
There will not be enough time to shine the troughs. We're going to be pissing on some rough cut metal. The splashback COULD be noticeable. Emphasis on the COULD. Can't stress that enough.

I dont have that kind of money, but yes. He is worth that much and there was apparently a marketplace of teams willing to pay him. 23 Year old who scores goals and about to enter his prime. They are paying Josh Norris more than that annually.
The problem is, the silly past decisions. Owen Power contract, buying out Skinner last year (and not using the cap savings) which was stupid, Samuelsson, and UPL. Also, the Norris thing
Fair enough. I like JJ but his contract was one that I was scared of. I love his speed, he has a nice shot, but I don't think his game is well rounded enough to commit to him long term for that kind of money. Norris was a trade. We are paying Norris "too much" because we gave a bad contract to Cozens.

One of kevyn adams' few "wins" traded out of here for pennies on the dollar
Would you have paid JJP $7.7M per year?
On the other hand.....the last time we gave a long term contract to a guy who just had a never to be sniffed again shooting % we wound up regretting that hard.

is it because professional soccer is so popular in the US?

The NFL is, by far, the biggest sports league on the planet, so by default any team that is essentially tied with futility with an NHL team is automatically far more futile, especially considering the much more even playing field of the NFL and how much parity there is.
Also, I don't care how many times the Browns made the playoffs, they are among the most inept teams in the NFL and are equally a laughingstock for their QB situation they have mired themselves in.
50% of the NHL makes the playoffs every year.

Yes the rumor out there is Peterka wants out but the Sabres really don't want to part with him unless the trade package is an excellent return
After the Whistle reported today that hes not demanding a trade. He wants first line minutes and to be on PP #1 and he doesnt want to be just another guy on a new team. Sounds like hes sticking around but he's pissed that the team is a dumpster fire and he is a lot more outspoken than the quiet kid we drafted.

No, that is the NY Jets and Cleveland Browns of the NFL.
Sabres are tied with the Jets for longest active playoff drought. Sabres playoff drought is the longest in NHL history. The Browns have been to the post season twice in the past 5 years.

They are a laughing stock primarily because of him. Honestly, hiring McDermott might be the best thing he's ever done as an owner of any of his teams.
And Terry is on record saying he would not give McBeane as much power as he did if he had the decision again today. Which is terrifying.

Not sure why the hate but that’s so wrong it’s laughable. All of Pegula teams outside of the Sabres made the playoffs this past season. The Bandits even won the championship. Maybe we have a different definition of “disaster.”As for the Bills, they’ll be contenders for at least the next decade with Josh at the helm. And that will be with or without McBeane.
This is a hockey board. A conference finals, playoffs, and a championship means nothing when ARE Sabres remain the laughing stock of North American professional sports.

30 years ago there were far more than 5 news outlets. Media is global. Was then too. That's why we can almost always piece together truth. It's important to watch the BBC when trade deals with the UK are being discussed. Better yet, The Guardian or Economist. Or the CBC when the 51st state is being discussed...Or the Jerusalem Post or Al Jezeera when the middle east is raging...
Yes, algorithms play a huge part in what news people consume. But they needn't. There is still truth.
Of course there more outlets around the globe but Americans were primarily getting their news from Brokaw, Rather, Jennings, and their local paper. Unless you were trading copies of the Turner Diaries with the local militia, you were unlikely to come across the kind of "news" our pals in PPP trade in.

the worst part is that this varied group now constitutes the majority of Americans. We are in the land of misfit toys.
I think the worst part is that our reality is shaped based on where we fall in the political spectrum. 30 years ago there were like 5 outlets for news and they were all basically the same. We could largely agree on some basic "facts" or "truths" even when they were wrong. Now we have algorithm dictated infotainment delivering a 24/7 feed of confirmation bias. Whatever you engage with the longest is the truth. Whether its deep fakes, rage bait, conspiracy theories, outright fabrications, mainstream fluff, it doesn't matter. Whatever keeps your eyeballs on the screen the longest determines what "news" you get and therefor your reality. If the news tells you the earth is round and that doesn't tickle your fancy, keep scrolling and you'll have no problem finding a community of flat earthers that will take you in. You are never alone no matter how far off the reservation you have wandered. Every viewpoint is now equal. All "facts" are equal. Very few people question their feed when its reinforcing their world view.
Its increasingly difficult to find common ground and I don't see that getting better. Our political discourse is increasingly shaped by the raging debate between the lunatic fringes on either side. And now they have their own social media platforms. Which echo chamber do you prefer: every piece of art made in the past 1,000 years is a misogynistic, racist, transphobic microgression giving bad vibes OR 10 million Guatemalans have attacked the Lincoln Memorial and are eating dogs?
Here's my conspiracy theory: Social media is the greatest psy op in recorded history. Soviet level cynicism incoming.

I can say with close to 100% confidence that no theoretical Iranian nukes are pointed at the USA mainland. Why would they be? If they're pointed anywhere they are pointed at Isreal. But they don't exist.
Blowing up some underground research facility will do nothing to neutralize operational nuclear weapons. And if the Clerics running the country are faced with total defeat they'll use them if they have them. And if they have them then the mission needs to be taking the active nukes out. Not research facilities. Logically, focusing on taking out research leads to conclude no active capability exists.
They can point their nukes wherever they like, assuming they have one for this hypothetical. Just like Nathan Peterman could line up to throw the deep out route. Getting the package to the intended target is a completely different matter. An Iranian nuke pointed at the United States might hit Santorini? It sure as hell isn't landing anywhere close to an American territory. They have a long way to go with missile tech by all reports.

Ya, and you miss Kamela
I don't like Trump but the Iranian regime is about the most evil government on earth. I'm glad Trump isn't Bush and wanting to invade a country, which at the time I saw as just pure folly. I just hope this full pressure approach leads to a diplomatic solution, but that unfortuently leaves the regime in power. So, I guess there really isn't a winning play here. Bombing is no guarantee of success in anyway, but It has to be on the table.
I also think Trump in many ways is a reaction against the failings of the Democratic Party who really needs to get their own house in order.
Happy Juneteenth
They need to get tougher on trans rights. The American people have spoken and they demand to know where the Dems sit on trans rights!
Sadly, this is likely an actual conversation happening at the DNC. Dems learned nothing over the last 8 years. If they had a candidate who would focus on jobs, prosperity, and boosting the standard of living for working class Americans they just might never lose again. Instead they're baited into debates on fringe social issues. They're more concerned about winning the supposed moral high ground than they are with winning elections and as a result they're broadly viewed as arrogant, humorless, and preachy.
I think Trump and MAGA is more a repudiation of both political parties and our ruling elite. He promised to burn everything down. Ironically, the rejection of our political elitism is embodied by a rich Manhattan socialite who LARPs as a self made man but here we are. Trump's self aggrandizing travels too. Latinos and Black voters love the machismo, the under educated love the complete lack of decorum and decency. Trump is flame to the moth for everyone who has been cast aside as dumb, trashy, hairbrained, and generally undesirable. He brought them all in under the tent. He platformed their basest opinions and assured them they weren't alone.

Congrats to the Panthers on a well deserved Stanley Cup win, but their celebration appears to be orders of magnitude smaller than the crowd that gathers at the same venue for every Bills away game in Miami. I saw a report that the Bandits game aired on CW had more local viewers in Buffalo than the Panthers cup finals had in Miami. Its criminal that we do not have a competent hockey team in such a rabid market.

Buffalo Sabres and the NHL: 2025 - 2026
in Off the Wall
Posted
In my opinion, walking away from a proven market in a league which has had a rocky road to 32 teams would be an incredible mistake. A few years ago the Florida Panthers were at serious risk of a relocation. Seems like ancient history 2 cup wins later. A few franchises remain on shaky ground and several others are far too early into their relocations/expansions to call successes at this point.
