It was a joke, Hawes did go to Yale. When Fitz was Bills QB, announcers couldn’t get out a paragraph without mentioning he went to Harvard. There was an also a Bills player whose name I can’t recall, who was Malone’s son. Announcers would always point it out.

That was Demetress "Don't Call Me Demetrius" Bell.

Another fun fact, Hawes was actually an accomplished lacrosse player at Yale and wears wedding rings on both hands when he plays despite being an eligible bachelor.

  3. If James Franklin had any sense these first 3 PSU games would have been treated as an extension of practice with the only intent of developing an actual passing game.  Instead they proved once again that they can run the ball all over 3rd rate programs.  They aren't going to be able to run all over Ohio State and they can't even pass for first downs against the Villanovas, Nevadas, and Florida Institutes of Fashion of the FBS.  They remain abysmally bad on 3rd down even while playing inferior opponents.  Aller is not progressing at all.  Once considered a first round draft pick hes not even a top five QB anymore.

I think the only teams that I would say I'm feeling Giants and Raiders.

Everyone else, it's going to be a battle for them.

The Raiders gave them more trouble than other divisional opponents in recent years.  This is a different Raiders team but Maxx Crosby means Mahomes is in for a long day.  He makes it a point to touch Mahomes and get in his ear on every play.  We will see, but that division looks to be getting more competitive while ours may be the worst in football.

  5. Saw Oasis two weeks ago, Nelly with Ja Rule a week ago (not my choice), and Nine Inch Nails on Friday which was amazing and the best of the three shows by a mile.  Last up on the docket is Viagra Boys October 30th.

(You all will love this thread on victory Monday)

Seeing how we well we are playing now, that we get a couple of defensive players back in few weeks and assuming that the young 'uns on defense gel by mid-season, I am having a really tough time seeing a loss on our schedule. But we all know how difficult it is to go unbeaten. Also, I dont want to jinx it. So if we assume there will be at least one loss this season, which game has your vote?

    Dolphins - naah

Saints - no QB, still re-building

Patriots* - Maybe if Vrabel does his thing for playing  tough in the trenches and this is his Superbowl

Falcons - way too underpowered to slow us down

    Panthers - Naah

Chiefs - they should have Rice back by this time so it is likely but I feel we are more balanced overall on Defense and can avoid the typical issues with their offense

Dolphins - they will be thinking about next season at this time, so naah

Buccaneers - a possible loss as they are a tough team and on a good day, can give us fits

Texans - while good overall, it remains to be seen if CJ Stroud can recapture his rookie form. But I dont think they have the overall horses to stop us

Steelers - Again, could be a tough game but Rodgers' arm would be hurting by this time

Bengals - Maybe Burrow will be back by this time but he will be rusty and our Defense should be fully revved up by this time

    Patriots - see above

Browns - good overall team but still looking for a QB.

Eagles - first real possibility of a loss with how tough that team is. But if we have the #1 seed locked up, many of our starters will be resting

    Jets - rrriigght

So, in summary, I think our first loss could be to the Patriots, Bucs or Eagles.

    What do y'all think?

Its a long season.  Teams adjust.  Playing at this level all year isn't realistic.  If history is any indicator, somewhere around week 5 the wheels will suddenly come off and we will be looking completely out of answers for a few weeks.

I'd have to read the exact dialogue to believe this. @Jauronimo do you know what he is talking about?

I do know what he's talking about.  He was ranting and raving about the equivalent of litter boxes in school bathrooms and drag shows for kids which he believes to be the major issues of our time.  With all the actual issues facing the nation I cannot be bothered to care about every bit of rage bait he can scrounge up from the depths of the internet.  And NC believes he scored a major victory that day in my dismissal of his Libs of Tik Tok smoking gun.

You condemned cancel culture.  There has to be accountability.  We are on the verge of civil war, closer than at anytime in our lives.  We'll be burying brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers.  Is that preferable to cancel culture?

I did not.  But a bunch of guys reveling in today's canceling certainly have done so.

You condemn the people who cheer his death while being mad at these same people for being outed.

We all have to draw a line. I draw it at cheering on someone's murder. If you deem these people getting outed as cancel culture fine.

    I don't agree.

Why do you cry outrage when monsters are outed?

You call it cancel culture, I call it having common sense. I don't want these monsters in my community holding positions of power, interacting with children.

I'm not mad at those doing the outing or those celebrating the outing. I pointed out what sure looks like a double standard and some of you are taking it rather personally.

It is cancel culture.  Definitionally.  If you celebrate cancel culture today maybe think twice before ranting about how bad it is tomorrow.  Seems like a reasonable ask to me.

Or if you want play on both sides of the fence on this issue as its convenient, just own it like NC.

You took the word salad way out.

    Sad.

    Boxed in huh?

You have multiple times responded to my substantive posts over the past few days with some form of "thats a word salad" which is a total cop out.  Beyond weak.

You introduced a false choice in your previous post between some "semi controversial" hypothetical and public celebrations of death. I'm not taking the bait and letting you advance your own definitions of terms and degrees of controversy, as that is an obvious and underhanded way to debate.

I attempted to have an adult conversation with you in good faith, and predictably my efforts were in vain.

Do you think making semi controversial comments is different than cheering on the death of someone you disagreed with?

Cancel culture does apply to one of these above examples.

I don't know what "semi controversial" comments you are referring to or who deemed them only "semi controversial". Further, I don't know how this hypothetical of "semi controversial" opinions is even relevant.  It is obvious that you are advancing a highly flexible and personally convenient definition of what cancel culture entails.  Luckily, for us we don't need to debate the meaning of the term cancel culture as it has already been established.

I literally just described why it's not.

Violating company policy is not cancel culture.

    Damn dude.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cancel_culture

Definitionally, it is cancel culture.  Social media outrage, citizens reporting people for their transgressions, calling for firings. The only difference between this example of cancel culture and thousands of others is that this time you're the one who is outraged rather than the one defending free speech.
