  1. Yes, absolutely. This offseason/draft will likely determine my opinion of Whaley. I've been mostly indifferent on him until now.
  2. I think it's obvious that Rex's defense failed. I would also argue that was obvious to a lot of us before we brought in Rex. I don't, however, think it's ever as simple as defense = bad, offense = good. I think there were several games where we needed an offensive spark and they produced crucial three-and-outs (multiple big games from last year). I think Tyrod is an average/below average QB. He's probably our best option going into next season, BUT... if Cardale Jones is the only young QB on the roster our future is in trouble. You have to keep trying to plant trees. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
  3. I guess? I could revise to if we "neglect to successfully groom a young QB". I like Jones as a project, but I feel like him being a legitimate NFL starter seems more like a pipe dream. If Whaley's back-up plan to Tyrod is simply Cardale Jones then I think we're in big trouble.
  4. Wow. This post is...well, let's just say we couldn't agree less. You want to skip drafting a QB and are praising Taylor because of our strong rushing game. We truly are a battered fan base.
  5. I'm okay with this as long as we draft a couple QB's in the next two drafts. If we neglect grooming a young QB I could very well seeing it be the beginning of the end for Doug Whaley.
  6. Also, is that even a good trade? You usually get a next year's first when you move up, don't you?
  7. WHO IS "WE"??? RUSS BRANDON??? kidding
  8. Have you looked at our roster? We need both. What do we have, two WRs on the roster? Maybe three?
  9. We've also been saying that since 2008.
  10. Wildly different situations. We picked up Lorenzo Alexander to be a ST specialist. Had he been just a ST beast, I'm not calling it dumb luck. Now...getting 10+ sacks filling in for an injury, that's dumb luck. Whaley did not scout him and intend to start him, and I assure you there was no expectation he would have a pro-bowl LB season. Again, I don't have a lot of issues with Whaley as a talent evaluator, I'm just not willing to let people add Lorax to his pro's list like it was some genius master plan. Also, I apologize for hijacking this thread.
  11. This to me reads much less like, "get in the way of the coaching staff" and a lot more like, "hey, let me talk to the kid." I think this a non-story, but it makes no sense to call Christie an outsider and refuse to let him have a meeting with Carpenter just to talk shop. I feel like there was a way to make all parties happy in this situation. Huh?
  12. Did you lose a fight to your keyboard? Also, bringing up Lorenzo Alexander to defend Whaley in this thread is a stretch. There are some quality things about Whaley, but striking gold on an aging ST player is pure dumb luck.
  13. You actually think that it's too soon to have an opinion on how Trump is doing? I ask because, well... you're the first person I've ever seen say that. Not only has everyone made up their minds on the guy, but he's been about as polarizing a President that we've had, certainly in our life times. It seems like he's totally a love him or hate him type of a guy.
  14. If we come into next season with McCoy, Gillislee, and Williams, I'd like to bring in Starks to compete in camp. I don't think highly of Williams at all, and with our recent RB injuries, I see the RB3 position as one of value. I could see the argument that we need to get younger at RB, but I think backs are a dime a dozen anyway, and if we really just spent $1 million on Bush last season, why not kick the tires on Starks. If he's too slow in camp, release him and it's no big deal. Honestly, if it's late in the season, and we have some injuries at RB, would you rather have Starks come in to start or J. Williams?
  15. The ship has sailed but knowing what we know about Reggie Bush's season, even had Fred only rushed for like 100 yards, his presense in the locker room could have made a difference on our season. Cutting Fred in 2015 because he's too old, but bringing in the washed up Reggie Bush in 2016 was laughable. The Bush move screams Rex Ryan, but I still think we underrated Fred's leadership role the year before.
  16. meh Edit: can we leave this stuff for facebook? I come here because it's one of the few sports sites safe from the onslaught of unfunny sports memes.
  17. Great player. Always did well in his role and had a few games where he really shined. The guy had 993 total yards as back-up in 2015 which is pretty impressive. I'll never forget his rookie year where he rushed for over 300+ yards in the playoffs and led the Packers in rushing in their Super Bowl win.
  18. I love it when businesses attempt to create viral marketing and it works because people are dumb enough to eat it up and share despite it's low-quality.
  19. Yeah but I don't think it would be very safe for him to spend all his work time on this site like all of us...
  20. He had a great start to the season. If he had kept it up he'd be getting some real awards in the coming weeks. I love Lorax, but he definitely slowed down and I can't help but think age was a factor. He's not high on my "players to re-sign list".
  21. I almost took the time to write an honest reply, until I realized you're a Patriots*** fan and of course you don't like Eli Manning.
  22. Count me in as someone who never really thinks or cares about the position coaches (until one becomes our interim head coach). I am in the ABDL* camp for the QB coach though. *Anyone But David Lee
  23. "Okay, I'm totally going to be sober now" - Johnny Manziel, drinking his final beer of the night (approx. 3:47am on a Thursday).
  24. Don't worry Leroi, he didn't mean you. You're very cool.
