  1. We don't really post new threads when radio talk show hosts have opinions. I'd like to think I'm not alone in saying this, but I don't want the front page at TSW to be a flood of Howard Simon/Mike Schopp tweets.
  2. Yeah, Woods has a different, much needed skillset of a reliable possession receiver with a knack for getting difficult YAC. What's your point?
  3. It's not illogical to predict we miss the playoffs, but I guess I'll revise my post to simply...okay, let's say we miss the playoffs again. I'm sure Tyrod will dance around all the blame and that's fine, but now what? Without a QB waiting in the wings I don't understand what we're to expect? Do we ride Taylor until he's 30+? Edit*: I should point out for millionth time here, that I don't mind this restructure at all...my "angst" is that no one seems to also want to draft a QB. No need to misinterpret what I'm really trying to get at and focus exclusively on another Tyrod evaluation, I'm not interested in that - we know what we have in him.
  4. That's the part you picked from my post? The part where I predicted we don't make the playoffs, as if that's so unreasonable to expect...
  5. I mean... isn't every team in "win-now" mode? This isn't the NHL. Losing Woods and wasting a draft pick to replace him is a very Billsy thing to do (See: Winfield > Clements > McKelvin > Gilmore, Henry > McGahee > Lynch > Spiller).
  6. Okay, so hypothetically Tyrod plays exactly as well as he did last year...resulting in another season without the playoffs. Now what? Who did you groom? How ready are you to handle the future? Just try it again, fourth time is a charm? I really don't understand how, after literally witnessing the greatest example over the past 20 years that QB is the most crucial position to a team's success, Bills fans still want their team to avoid drafting them. We've taken exactly two QB's in the first round in the last 33 years. TWO!! It's MIND NUMBING to me that there are still people that think drafting a QB is not the answer every year until we strike gold. MIND NUMBING.
  7. It seems that everyone wants us to skip drafting a QB this year... I feel like I'm in a god damn twilight zone episode.
  8. It's been posted. It's a restructure. Cap down from 16mil to under 10 mil. Looks like it's a 5-year deal where after year 3 it's year-to-year.
  9. They'll probably say that next year.
  10. So another year not trying to take a QB in the draft... Why is everyone okay with this? I'm sick of, "this year's QB draft isn't great, wait 'til next year". I feel like I read that EVERY YEAR! Don't fall for that crap and take QB's! Why is this so complicated!?
  11. Yeah McCoy owes all his success to Tyrod...
  12. God, I hate this. You're allowed to be upset at your team when they fail to make the playoffs for nearly 20 years. Some of us have groaned over the last few coaching hires and starting QB's. It's not about "being right". I would love to be wrong, but a lot these decisions are becoming mind-numbingly predictable. Mind you, I do not think Whaley made the wrong decision here...I'm merely voicing my discomfort at the possibility that he may forego draft a QB with a top pick now.
  13. Yes, absolutely. This offseason/draft will likely determine my opinion of Whaley. I've been mostly indifferent on him until now.
  14. I think it's obvious that Rex's defense failed. I would also argue that was obvious to a lot of us before we brought in Rex. I don't, however, think it's ever as simple as defense = bad, offense = good. I think there were several games where we needed an offensive spark and they produced crucial three-and-outs (multiple big games from last year). I think Tyrod is an average/below average QB. He's probably our best option going into next season, BUT... if Cardale Jones is the only young QB on the roster our future is in trouble. You have to keep trying to plant trees. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
  15. I guess? I could revise to if we "neglect to successfully groom a young QB". I like Jones as a project, but I feel like him being a legitimate NFL starter seems more like a pipe dream. If Whaley's back-up plan to Tyrod is simply Cardale Jones then I think we're in big trouble.
  16. Wow. This post is...well, let's just say we couldn't agree less. You want to skip drafting a QB and are praising Taylor because of our strong rushing game. We truly are a battered fan base.
  17. I'm okay with this as long as we draft a couple QB's in the next two drafts. If we neglect grooming a young QB I could very well seeing it be the beginning of the end for Doug Whaley.
  18. Also, is that even a good trade? You usually get a next year's first when you move up, don't you?
  19. WHO IS "WE"??? RUSS BRANDON??? kidding
  20. Have you looked at our roster? We need both. What do we have, two WRs on the roster? Maybe three?
  21. We've also been saying that since 2008.
  22. Wildly different situations. We picked up Lorenzo Alexander to be a ST specialist. Had he been just a ST beast, I'm not calling it dumb luck. Now...getting 10+ sacks filling in for an injury, that's dumb luck. Whaley did not scout him and intend to start him, and I assure you there was no expectation he would have a pro-bowl LB season. Again, I don't have a lot of issues with Whaley as a talent evaluator, I'm just not willing to let people add Lorax to his pro's list like it was some genius master plan. Also, I apologize for hijacking this thread.
  23. This to me reads much less like, "get in the way of the coaching staff" and a lot more like, "hey, let me talk to the kid." I think this a non-story, but it makes no sense to call Christie an outsider and refuse to let him have a meeting with Carpenter just to talk shop. I feel like there was a way to make all parties happy in this situation. Huh?
  24. Did you lose a fight to your keyboard? Also, bringing up Lorenzo Alexander to defend Whaley in this thread is a stretch. There are some quality things about Whaley, but striking gold on an aging ST player is pure dumb luck.
  25. You actually think that it's too soon to have an opinion on how Trump is doing? I ask because, well... you're the first person I've ever seen say that. Not only has everyone made up their minds on the guy, but he's been about as polarizing a President that we've had, certainly in our life times. It seems like he's totally a love him or hate him type of a guy.
