  1. great post OC! Thanks for the analysis The Saints were 8-8 last year and 7-9 the year before. After the 2-0 start, people are putting them in the Super Bowl time for a speed bump (Buffalo) Go Bills! -RnJ
  2. The following is the answer I got from a DTV rep..he ASSURES me I am o.k. with my specific unit. Hopefully, he is correct: KC- SD broadcasts of the Sunday Ticket games are still delivered via MPEG2 encoding. I believe the problem KC experienced is due to a change in the way the guide data is delivered. Some really old model receivers (like the old DRD model RCA receivers) are not capable of handling the advanced program guide (APG) data that DirecTV currently uses. From what I’ve been told, the newer/larger guide data (APG) exceeds what these older receivers can handle. Sports packages were omitted from the non-APG guide data since it would affect the smallest amount of customers. I know a DirecTV CSR told you that it was due to MPEG4 but any of us who have been a DirecTV customer for any amount of time know not to put too much faith in what they tell you, it’s essentially customer service roulette. I’ve been told one thing one minute, just to call back and be told something completely opposite the next minute. ----> Richard- The GXCEBOT is APG capable, so you shouldn’t have any problems with SD Sunday Ticket games. <--------
  3. http://www.tvpredictions.com/dfumble092209.htm I just found this: " But on Sunday, DIRECTV only sent the 1 p.m. ET games in high-def in MPEG 4. Consequently, the MPEG 2 receivers displayed a blank screen and an error code. "This may sound like a minor issue, but in reality it may have affected tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of NFL. fans," the Times writes today. After being bombarded with phone calls, DIRECTV issued an alert on its Twitter page saying the problem would be resolved for "the next set of games," meaning the games that began at 4 p.m. The Sunday Ticket is a pay package that allows DIRECTV viewers to watch every Sunday afternoon game during the NFL regular season. The package costs from $279 to $299, depending upon when you order it. If you want to watch the games in high-def, the satcaster charges viewers an extra $99 for its 'Super Fan' package. Presumably, DIRECTV will send this week's games in high-def in both MPEG 2 and MPEG 4." I need to find this "twitter page" to verify this
  4. JR - what kind of receiver do you have? GG is reporting he had problems. You are not. mine is a MPEG 2 GXCEB0T ...hughes I think
  5. So does this mean SOME people had legitimate issues with their SD reception while others had no problems? This suggests that some receivers are too old while others are not? If this is the case, how can one tell ahead of time? Does anyone know if Directv is going to respond to this?
  6. Thanks JR - again, I appreciate the reassurance! I may, at some point, upgrade to HD but it will be on my terms once I am convinced the Directv units are worth it (I am still hearing some horror stories) and when I am convinced the cost of the unit, the cost of the monthlyl lease, the cost of the monthly HD feed and the upgrade to my 42" monitor all worth the benefit of HD and the various new "toys" that come with it. So far, I am content with SD and my 42" panasonic monitor and my older receiver that I OWN (no monthly lease fee).
  7. Thanks for the reassurance Fez!!! I would HATE for my group to find itself looking at a blank screen next Sunday From what I can tell, this is NOT a Fox Doubleheader Sunday so I am not expecting the Bills to be a National game in the NJ area (Giants at Tampa at 1 pm the only locally shown Fox game).
  8. I attended last Sunday's game and tivoed the game. Since it was a national broadcast, I tivoed it off the local feed and not off a directv NFL ticket channel (such as 314 etc). An article at the NY times http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09...#comment-147107 says that the writer (KC) did not get the games since his directv unit owned by him is MPEG 2. Directv spokesperson ("Byron") said this was an issue for HD receivers and that letters went out offering free receiver upgrades. KC replied he was receiving SD not HD and had the problem he described. I am not receiving HD and I received no such letter. Did anyone have problems - this question is for SD directv people only - receiving Sunday Ticket games last Sunday? Thanks for the feedback!! -RichNJoisy CNJBBB
  9. you're kidding right? just beat them as long as we don't cheat (patriots=cheatriots), who cares?
  10. it is being reported that starting RB for the Saints Mike Bell is injured with an MCL strain status for Sunday unknown ATT
  11. Lefwich is simply not in the same class as Golden Boy Brady. He can play well at times but every time I have watched him play, he is limping by the end of the first half. he certainly can move and gun it, but again, he's no Brady. So, the obvious thing is for the Bills to put more men in the box. This limits the run game. With Bryant ailing (at best for their sake) or OUT they are weakened at the WR position not to mention their all-pro Center is OUT (Faine) which makes the shotgun a big liability. They need the shotgun to given Byron more time to throw. Offensively, the Bills put up 17 points (not counting Schobel's TD) They SHOULD be able to score at least 17 if not more playing at home. Obviously, the Bills have to play well but there is no reason not to be optimistic. Go Bills!
  12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) at Buffalo Bills (0-1) My hope is Leodis McKelvin returns three kickoffs for touchdowns. He's a good player who doesn't deserve to be media-slaughtered for doing what a kick-returner is paid to do. Namely, return kicks. all of his picks: http://www.fannation.com/peter_king_challe...amp;eref=fromSI
  13. Buccaneers | Bryant not practicing Thursday Comment (0) Tweet me! Thu, 17 Sep 2009 09:27:17 -0700 Charlie Campbell and Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, report Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Bryant (knee) is not participating in practice Thursday, Sept. 17.
  14. I agree. If you think he was under a lot pressure, take a look at last year. Compared to last year, Trent had enough time on Monday to bake cookies. Still there is still room for improvement (especially in the penalty department)
  15. I like Stupar too. Your assessment as to the Bills protecting him (not) is spot on other than any idea people might get that releasing him and passing through waivers is any different than him being on a practice squad with the lone (and big exception) of the fact that he cannot be signed off of our practice squad onto someone else's practice squad. He can, however, be signed off waivers onto someone else's practice squad. He can only be signed off the practice squad directly onto another team's 53 man roster. So, making through waivers is only important if Jonathon WANTED to switch practice squads (which would be unusual at this point). Given nelson's play on Monday, Stupar's chances dropped a bit but I expect him to be on the Bills roster due to injuries before the end of the season.

  17. As soon as I heard about the vandalism, I thought the same things you did - embarrassment, anger and then resolve - the resolve to CHEER Leodis when he is introduced. to the vandal(s) - screw you. Go live in Philadelphia, there's room for one more.
  18. There is absolutely no reason for you to pay $350 for 1 night to get a good room within walking distance of a casino you could try Courtyard Niagara Falls by Marriott average of ~ $110 a night for fri-sat-sun Saturday is $157 a lot cheaper is Michael's inn at $110 for a saturday night stay don't forget your passport to cross into canada by the way, you could stay stateside - there is a casino in niagara fall NY a stay at the 4 points sheraton is reasonable good luck RichNJoisy Central NJ Bills backers
  19. From profootball.talk.com: According to Buffalo head coach Dick Jauron, Bills middle linebacker Paul Posluszny will be down for "several weeks" with a broken left arm. The development puts Buffalo in the market for linebacker help this week. Posluszny, who lost his rookie season in 2006 to a broken arm suffered at Gillette Stadium, told Allen Wilson of the Buffalo News that this injury isn't as serious because there's only one broken bone in the arm as opposed to two which was the case in 2006. Posluszny said that he will need surgery but added, "I should definitely be back. From what they told me it's not an I.R. (injured reserve) thing." The Bills don't have a lot of depth at that spot with young Marcus Buggs or Keith Ellison looking like the guys on the roster who'll replace Posluszny. Ellison was beaten by Benjamin Watson on the game-winning touchdown Monday night. The Bills could also go after Pat Thomas, a player they released late in training camp who started eight games for the Chiefs in 2008. The Bills also played the second half against New England without defensive end Chris Kelsay who got leg-whipped by a teammate. There's no word yet on his status for this week.
  20. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/...res/#more-68902 FYI: I don't agree with his politics but whatever........
  21. welllll, I did say THICK chains.
  22. If he lands there and passes a physical - tie him to a chair using thick chains until he sign a contract you could say I want him

  24. Look everyone - we have all suffered through one Cheatriot loss after another. Beating them means the Bills do two things REALLY well (which they have been unable to do since the Home Opener way back on September 7th, 2003) 1.) pressure Brady forcing bad throws 2.) Not turn the ball over If the Bills do that they have a chance of winning. Do I think Jauron could STILL lose if #1 and #2 come to pass? you betcha
  25. I definitely noted Stupar's play last Saturday. Interesting life story too. I plan to watch him specifically and see how this plays out. he might be something special. rewatching the game, man does Wood look good. another player I am watching closely.
