Right now this might be interesting - take Pettigrew at 11 and then trade up to grab Oher or Brown or Ayers (pick plus Roscoe to #22 like you suggested)
-
Boy, people are throwing around the words "stupid" and "ignorant" this morning. TE the lowest priority position? Says who? TE - a pass catching/blocking TE - are RARE. All the good ones are playing pro basketball. Give a decent QB a TE like that and he will move the chains. Again, and again and again. I hope you get to see what Pettigrew and do for Trent. With a decent TE sacks plummet too. He's always here to dump off to. Kelly with Metzellars was incredible.

Who are reading here that is saying the OL is not a glaring weakness? Do you see Andre Smith as a guaranteed "hit" or Oher? The question is value at pick 11 and the strength at each position of the draft. Reaching for OT's has been going on for years now but with marginal results. Even your point about Peters fits - he was undrafted. He was not even an OT in college - he was a TE. I agree that OT is a huge weakness but the Bills can still get a quality OT at pick 28. Pettigrew, arguably the best TE to come out of college in years, will be gone by pick 28. This will all be decided tomorrow. I would love to grab A Smith at 11 and pettigrew at 28. All for it except I don't think Pett will be there. Eben Britton or Will Beatty might be there or Ayers as a DE.
-
NO we haven't forgotten but Pettigrew will not be there at 28. I sure hope tomorrow you will be arguing that he would have been and we should have waited as opposed to saying, whoops! didn't see him going to the Jets at 17 or Eagles at 21 or Patriots at 23. A decent upgrade to the DE will be there at 28. This draft has many many 1st round DE choices. There is only one great TE
-
I respectfully disagree - pass rush is indeed one of the Bills weaknesses but so is the offensive line and so is the TE spot. I see them all as being "needs". In this draft, which appears to be "not exceptional" but loaded with many "decent" prospects, I see TE as the one "need" position that has only 1 "great" prospect: Pettigrew at TE. That is why I would select him then target DE and OT at picks 28 and 42. I see a decent prospect there at pick 28. At 42, same thing but obviously a "projected" lower prospect. The OT weakness, IMO, was there when we had Peters - he would probably have been preparing to hold out until week 10 or the Bills would have given in and paid him 10-11 mil per year. THEN - I would STILL not be sure how well he would play. Pettigrew can block and take dump passes - Lynch has been IMO a big disappointment in the passing game - he simplyh drops too many passes. Pettigrew solves that problem and can stay in for every down. I hear you on the pass rush but the Bills need to score. Our defense was not the reason we lost last year. We lost because we couldn;t score. Of course, if we sc ore more this year, our defense may "compensate"

He's been my guy too. If Andre Smith is there and (of course) Pettigrew - would that change your mind? I still wouldn't. I would take Pett at 11 and then wait until 28. Ayers could fall, Brown could fall. Britton should be there. Oher won't . Beatty should. English should be there Johnson too. Lots of decent options. The Ayers thing has me intrigued. Some have him going as high as 10, others as low as 28.

pettigrew will not make it to 28 if the Bills want him, they have to take him at 11 I hope they do and then grab Ayers at 28 (if he's there that is)

I definitely dispute the opinion that Ralph doesn't care about W/L except from a profit viewpoint. But, his desire is only one necessary condition required to building a winning franchise. Look at Snyder. I have no doubt he wants a Super Bowl and has spent exorbitantly every year since he took over the team. Washington has even sniffed anywhere close to a championship. Dallas has also spent like crazy but has not been anywhere close in a decade. MANAGEMENT/SCOUTING is one huge problem. And I also wonder sometimes how much LUCK is involved. Do any of you think the Cheatriot run would have even started without 6th round pick Tom Brady? Thurmon Thomas fell to round 2. Andre Reed was what round? House Ballard? Wasn't Bolden a 7th round pick?? Was this brilliant skill or luck? I am not saying luck is more important than good management but it does matter...it seems. Last is good coaching. That has been missing from Buffalo since we (rightly) fired Wade Phillips. Wade is a mediocre coach but is 10X Jauron (at least). Belicheat cheats and is a certified !@#$ but he can coach. Parcells, etc This is one huge complaint I have about Ralph - he refuses to recognize the importance of good coaching. -rNj

Stafford, J. Smith, Curry, Sanchez, Raji, Monroe, A. Smith, Crabtree, Orakpo, Maclin I pulled this from his wednesday "chat rap" This would leave Maybin, Brown, Oher, Pettigrew, Ayers there at #11 I'd take Pettigrew

he won't be there at 28. he blocks, he catches, he thinks it is a huge need - the hell with the "Reach" issue. Take him at 11 and know you have put a very good player on your team. and who knows, Ayers may fall to 28. if not him, then Britton will be there.

Maybe I missed it in this rather long thread - but didn't the trade of McGahee also result in an extra pick we used to select Trent Edwards? As to the list above (Pat Williams, Antoine Winfield, Jason Peters, and even Nate Clements) - Williams not being resigned WAS a mistake. No doubt. AT THE TIME, I wanted him resigned but I was concerned about his age. In retrospect, it was not an issue. Winfield and Clements were WAY overpaid by their respective teams. I don't agree with you premise that the Bills should have paid their asking prices. As to peters, we shall eventually know who "won" this trade but my take is that he wanted too much money since his play has regressed for two years straight plus he was disloyal, disruptive and uncommunicative. After he opened his mouth this past Sunday, I can now understand why he did not talk much. It brought to mind his Wonderlic score. It was a 9 (which approximates an IQ of 78). my 2 cents

I absolutely love the excitement of having Roscoe back there with the possibility - every time - of a game changing return. Having said that, I am still FOR a trade since he is almost (I said ALMOST) worthless outside of punt returns. I do remember his great series of catches last year against Oakland - with a wrist/finger injury too as I recall. My huge problem with him is his consistent inconsistency when playing regularly at WR. When Reed went down, instead of taking this opportunity it was like he was not on the field. I started watching him and Trent and I noticed time and again that Trent would throw and Parrish would be in the wrong place (my take IS that Trent threw correctly and Roscoe botched the pattern). If I am correct, Roscoe will never be much more than an occasionally brilliant playmaker but otherwise unreliable WR. With the addition of TO and Johnson coming on plus the return of Hardy, the Bills simply cannot afford to waste the roster spot on Parrish. I hope they use the trade value wisely but who knows.....

What an interesting draft for Bills fans next Saturday. Most pundits have the first four off the board as Stafford - J smith - Curry - Monroe. But Curry MAY not go at #3. I doubt this but it is a possibility. Also, after the small chance of KC not taking Curry comes Seattle who might forgo taking Monroe and, instead, go for Sanchez or Crabtree. As a Bills fan, I will be thrilled if either a run on QB's emerges early or if Crabtree goes early and then (hopefully) Maclin. This would drop the OT's and DE's plus Raji should go in the top 10. In the "run" scenario, Andre Smith should fall to 11. Then, we wait and see if the Bills will go that route or take the best DE on the board. I haven't completely ruled out the drafting of Pettigrew at 11 (but I will be surprised). Then, we wait for pick 28 for the OPPOSITE to the pick 11 pick (if Bills go DE....wait and hope Oher or Britton falls). If Andre, then see if Ayers falls. My guess at this point will be the DE at 11 and then hope for Britton or Oher at 28. Then best TE left in round 2. The possible trades of Kelsay and Parrish in addition to the refusal (apparently) to take a 1 and 3 and instead taking a 1 and 4 and next year 6th lead me to believe the Bills are aimed at stockpiling picks for some trades. Waters? Scheffler? A trade up? -RnJ

Who hopes that Jason Peters gets cracked this year?
richNjoisy replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think he'd care. He gets paid if he is hurt or not. If he plays well or not. He wanted green. The eagles think he wants to wear green. Nope. He wants it in his wallet. Good trade. Good riddance. -
Rick Gosselin's 2nd mock draft - BASED ON NEED http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...t.e3cc4cc9.html

Well, I guess I am among the very few - I won't miss the holdout I won't miss the 11.5 sacks I won't miss paying him $10-11 mil per season I really thought the offensive line play last year dropped precipitously right when Butler went down and played well in weeks 1-2 without Peters. In my opinion, he was not worth it and I think the eagles are crazy to give up a 1st rounder+ and pay the guy 7 digits in salary too. My 2 cents and I realize I am in the minority here. ***** As to the draft,

Not just a great signing but a perfect signing for the "new" Bufelon Bills. From Buffalo Rumblings, "His one season in Oakland included a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He was also arrested in February of 2007 for drunk driving, eventually pleading guilty. His license was suspended for 180 days and he was fined $2,000 as a result of the incident." O.K. We can put Ko (Not O.J.) Simpson, Lynch and Rhodes in an SUV. Now....who drives? Simpson of course! He has no driving issues. Yet Now, if we can bring back Hargrove.......we'd have one hell of a foursome.

ESPN2 is having a schedule release special at 7 pm

I hope you are driving too! (not)

Do we quit the season after 15 games? THAT should be a bonus of 100 points!
-
Does BOLD mean home game in your list? If so - I love it! We get 9 home games! woo - hoo!

Oh really? You have a link?
