Basically do you prefer a Hollywood Brown or an AJ Brown type? Cause I’m in Hollywood’s camp can’t teach off the top of the defense speed like that

I prefer a Larry Fitzgerald/Hines Ward type.  Guys with good speed who know how to get open and create separation.  Big receivers seem to be easily dominated for long stretches in a game at times unless they are exceptional talents like megatron was.

Another Andre Reed would be exactly what this team needs.  I personally feel he was arguably the most unique mix of speed, toughness, and skill I've ever witnessed short of Jerry Rice and John Taylor.

Thinking of taking my two sons to the pro bowl in Orlando this year (ages 14 and 16) and wondered if anyone has been before and what their thoughts were? It would be a 2.5 hour drive there plus the cost of tickets, hotel, food, etc., just wondering if it's worth it?

I can think of 50 other things I'd rather do instead of watching that game, one of which involves me driving a nail through my foot.

We have almost a carbon copy of last years team in an even weaker playoff battle. With Tyrod I think it would have been back to back playoff years. Give him two turnovers in a game and he wins more often than not. No, I don't think he's good. But what he does do is protect the ball, enhance the running game, and to some extent mask poor offensive line play. Whats even more silly about the whole thing is he gets traded to the exact same situation he would have faced here. Perhaps he would have had the same fate in Buffalo he has in Cleveland if he was retained. I know Taylor has been talked to nauseous levels. I just find the thought process on this interesting and I'm curious what others think. Is this a playoff team with Taylor?

At first I was all set to shout at you for posting a troll thread, but the question is valid, and this wasn't a fanboy attempt to stir the shitpot.  so, to honestly answer your question, no.  There's not a QB in the league that could have performed well in the games where this offensive line looked like they were the walking dead, and I can't think of a game the Bill lost that tyrod could have improved the outcome.  some might say the Houston game, but I contend that it was Tyrod that held this team back last year, not the reason they won 9 games.  His lack of pocket skills and inability to push the ball down the field got him shipped off to that dumpster fire in clevelend where he quickly lost the starting job, just like he should have.

Now, where your statement is categorically false is the "carbon copy" statement.  Not only does the defense have a completely new look and feel to it with a lot of newer stronger talent, but the offense alone lost 3 of their best linemen, and the WR position had only 1 full time receiver return.  Zay Jones was an intermittent starter.  Totally different roster at key positions on offense.

5-6 wins with Tyrod at QB this year, with Allen learning as he goes, or with any luck that Barkley keeps performing the way her did, 6-8 wins.  they were not a real playoff team last year, lets not kid ourselves, Tyrod was downright terrible in sustaining drives all year.  Happy he was sent off.

We all know that this offense has been pathetic. We know that they have traded away a lot of good players. We know that they took on a lot of dead cap space this year and for some reason they have an obsession with Peterman but let's look at the last two drafts. We seemed to have hit on some nice players

    Tre'Davious White: Lock Down Corner

Zay Jones: Has shown flashes he can be a very good receiver

Dion Dawkins: Easily Our Best offensive Lineman

Matt Milano: 5th Round Pick but a very nice gem at linebacker

Josh Allen: Has Shown Some Glimpses. Very Athletic but Very Raw. We'll See What Happens

Tremaine Edmunds: Has Looked Fantastic This Season. Will be a cornerstone for a long time

Harrison Phillips: Has Made Some Plays

Taron Johnson: Has played Well This Season

Wyatt Teller: Got His First Start and Looks Like A Mauler

A lot of these guys have been mid to late round picks. I think they deserve credit for the last two drafts that have been put together. I think another solid draft and some nice free agent signings with a lot of cap space we can be a potential playoff team next season

I haven't been one who's lost sight of the process McDermott is driving towards.  The defense alone is proof of that.  The offense, and Benjamin specifically have been apocalypticly bad.  After losing most of what was good about the offensive line during the offseason, my hopes and expectations were very low, but at no point did I think McDermott and Beane were to blame, that was a natural disaster type hit to take.

Now is not the time to be winning these kinds of games.

    Peterman all the way.

What do you mean, "find a way".  That will happen regardless.  If anyone thinks there's another win on that schedule, please send me what you';re on.  I've never seen a more inept offensive line, wide receiver group, and offensive coordinator on all my life.  Such a sad thing to see the defense we have wasted on such a group of Bums, especially Benjamin, he's flat-out garbage, of the sun-baked and hot variety.

I came across and interesting interview on Twitter with Bucky Gleason.  In the interview he sounds good about a number of topics.  Including the Buffalo News - he said that the new management from outside of Buffalo too over and didn’t understand Buffalo sports.  He said they bought into the Twitter mob that said they were too negative.  So when they took away his column, he knew it was time to leave.

He also said that the Pegulas and the Bills significantly influence the local media either directly ($$$$) or indirectly (advertising $$$) - alluding to WGR and other outlets in Buffalo.

Later he said that they both tried to get press credentials from the Bills to cover the team.  The Bills denied their website The Maven - which is kind of like a free version of The Athletic - and are the only team in the NFL team to deny press rights to The Maven.  He later tried getting credentialed through 1270 AM, where he has a radio show.  1270 AM was already approved but since Bucky and Sully weren’t on the original press list for 1270, they were again denied.  Again, Bucky says this is very rare in the NFL.

His take is that the Pegulas and The Bills are essentially blackballing Bucky and Sully because they don’t like how critical the duo has been.  In his mind, this is an atrocious and petty thing to do to a journalist.

Its a facinating interview.  Check it out:

    http://moranalytics.com/ep-66-bucky-gleason-sports-writer-radio-host/

Sullivan was and still is a "jerry Springer" hack with no real ability to provide anything more than pot-stirring garbage.  The only thing that was atrocious was how long it took for him to be fired.

I'm guessing he knows its only for a season.

Leaving a family behind versus moving and moving again.

    Thoughts ?

Wait...  you're telling me a journeyman sub 500 QB at the age of 35 isn't planning a long term career in Buffalo?  did anyone pass this news-breaker off the the Buffalo News for a deep dive cover story?

This isn't a thread to crap on McBeane and/or Peterman. Genuine question. The fact that they give him so many chances means that they may see some sort of potential, real or imaginary, that we don't see. Just trying to figure out what it is.

He's the only option they have, it's that simple.  But, there's no doubt he was the clear-cut best QB through the off-season, and it's head scratching to see how badly he's played in live action.  McDermott will find another option I have no doubt in that, but when he does that is the bigger question.

Off topic a bit, but I don't care how much Josh struggles, I still think he's going to prove me wrong and turn out great.  Keep playing him if he's healthy.

When you look at our team/FO/ etc, etc... They came in with a pile of you know what as a team. They came off of  Rex/ Whaley regime that strapped this team against the cap and left it talentless. They took that team to the play-offs with none of us expecting it (while completely gutting it in 1 year).... while trying to fix the cap issues.

Say what you want about Beane and McDermott but those that refuse to see the cap as an issue of talent acquisition are simply not seeing the big picture..... money = ability to acquire high end talent and/ or system role players. Where did they spend the available money? Defense... and that defense (which is essentially all Beane and McDermott acquired players) is absolutely balling out.

I think this coming off-season and draft are going to define this regime. They absolutely have to address the offense in every aspect. I do believe Daboll has called some absolutely atrocious games this year, yet we are still competing. I sincerely hope that his inability to call an effective NFL game does not hinder the growth of Josh Allen.

Think about where we are as a team and the cornerstones we have....

Seemingly top 3 secondary (with a second year CB that is most likely a future All-Pro)

A 20 year old stud at MLB (and Milano growing into a nice player)

A young DT that has played well above where he was drafted and has been very impressive

A left tackle that is young and improving with every game

A young first round QB (and this regime believes it's their guy)

80+ Million in cap space next year

    10(i believe) draft picks

We have many many important pieces in place for a promising future..... I think we need to be patient and look for the growth of this team and players throughout the rest of this year.

    Just my .02....

I can't say this enough.   People who follow this team are sick of the losing.

People around here are sick of the losing.

I'm not going to tell your the Chiefs D is "good"....but they aren't nearly as bad as their yardage totals indicate.  We have outscored teams 59-9 in the first quarter this year..(that is with the other team starting the game with the ball ALL 5 games so far)..teams have had to play catch up to us/we blow them out....lot's and lots of garbage yards in that total.

The chiefs defense is embarrassing, but then again the Chiefs are winning games.  I'd rather have wins, but our defense is downright awesome to watch.  I am going to have to disagree with your sentiment that most of the yardage against the Chiefs is during garbage time, unless garbage time starts in the 1st quarter.

All I can part with is;  enjoy the post season, we'll be watching your team

all we heard this offseasin is sin is our passing game couldn’t get worse.  Well in a league where offense records are being set, we are barely over 100 yards passing!

Wins are always nice but other Bills qb would be getting killed for this game.  This is Allen’s 3rd won in 2 years where he passed for under 100 yards.  Isn’t that why we got rid of Tyrod?

No, we got rid of Tyrod because he is a very limited passer.  Josh was a developmental passer that needed to be thrown into the starting role, nobody knows yet where his ceiling is.  To expect exponentially better from a rookie is just silly.

  12. There were definitely outstanding moments during the game, and outstanding players and schemes, but the game itself was not.  It was, however, very satisfying.  I have nothing to complain about other than a weak passing game and a few receivers that seem to be mailing it in.  I'm not sure at this point what to think of this team, but I really do like the head coach and Josh Allen, they both have guts.

Will I pick them over Houston?  This is the first week I really don't know.

Fact: all through the draft process, TC and pre-season Allen's Achilles heel has been his inability to throw those short swing passes or dump-offs accurately.  He usually fires them from a cannon and they're high.

Was watching the condensed game in slowmo and couldn't help noticing that many of Allen's completions were low throws.  KB had to go down for his one completion, and our backs and TE did a nice job for the most part adjusting for low throws.  Not horrid low in most cases, but off target low.  At least 2 incompletions, though, were too low for our guys to dig out

Now many of these throws, he was throwing on the run without his feet set.  One possibility is that he's working on those kind of throws and he's over-compensating at present, instead of too high, they're too low.  A bit low is where a QB wants those passes to be vs. high where the receiver might tip them up for an airball and INT - though not quite as low as Allen is placing them.

Another possibility, though: maybe Allen is hurt, and they implemented such a run-heavy game plan (as well as, in rumor, ramping up negotiations for a backup) to hide Allen and give him a chance to heal?   Allen was sacked 7 times last week, plus a bunch more hits and 5 tackles when he ran.

He missed the last 2 games last fall with a sprained A/C joint in his throwing shoulder and he lost a season in 2015 to a clavicle broken in 7 different places and repaired with a steel plate.  So there is reason for concern.

Argument against the "hurt" might be when he was throwing from the pocket with his feet set, as in the INT to Holmes and the 12 yd pass to Zay, were on the money and had plenty of zip, even at the end of the game.

    Thoughts?

I think he's getting a little gun-shy due to a lack of receiver separation and the familiarity of what he's seeing from the defense.  Seriously don't think he's hurt,  given his mobility throughout the game.

Acknowledged, but you did say in response to the "patience you petulant children" OP: " If you were calling out the people who are instantly ripping the coaching staff already, or that Josh Allen isn't good , then I retract my poke at you, and say, carry on my friend."  I interpret "carry on my friend" as "in that case, I agree with (the OPs) call for patience"

No question that some people go "over the top" with the quick calls of "bust" and "fire 'em all!  every one of 'em!" (ok I exaggerate but just about).

But then others go overboard in the other direction with name-calling people who have reasons for their critique.

We have some pretty knowledgeable football folks on the board, and some others who aren't so knowledgeable but can maybe see some things if they stare long enough (I'm in that latter group I hope).  If they think there's a problem, there probably is.  Now can it be fixed, maybe, but I'd like to see movement in that regard.

ahhh...(bolded in red)  no, I meant carry on by calling out the "quick to criticize" constituent around here...

no doubt we're all a little frayed from all the losing.

I'm ripping the coaching staff and saying if Josh Allen doesn't learn to accurately makes throws he is missing now, he will not be good.

I'll be happy to back that up with factual analysis, anywhere, to anyone.

Call out as you like, but telling me to have patience is not a meaningful rebuttal.

Nowhere did I say I want people to have patience.  I simply don't agree with the crucification of a QB or a coach as it happens so quickly around here.

Did we not go to the playoffs last year??

Not really. and when they got there they looked every part a weak, middling talent team, and really had no business even stepping onto the field, but yes I was happy they were there.

Why are so many acting like petulant chlidren??

If you mean calling other people names, ummmm , look in the mirror.  People are downright sick of losing after 20 years of garbage, and the defense has surprisingly struggled at times.  The first game was nauseating to watch.

Last year was used to get our QB, mission accomplished.

100% agreed.  I wanted Rosen, but on character alone so far, Allen has proven to be the top of his QB class

This year we're in the process of demolition and restocking this spring, right on track. Let's exercise some patience and let them build a perennial contender and not a flash in the pan.

I fully believe in the process, and hope this team doesn't run off McDermott.

I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, but this team's struggles are probably more disheartening than any other year.  We've been waiting for 2 decades to see an improvement, and this year has ripped the guts out of this fanbase, especially when the team really does have a very good head coach.

If you were calling out the people who are instantly ripping the coaching staff already, or that Josh Allen isn't good , then I retract my poke at you, and say, carry on my friend.
