Welcome to the 19th century.  Yeah, "Redskin" is a derogatory term for a Native American -- and has always been a derogatory term even 200 years ago.   "Indian" is simply an outdated term for Native American, much like "colored" or "*****" are outdated terms for African Americans.

Apparently you missed the part where I said "fine, I'll concede that one".  I get called ethinic terms from the past that just don't offend me because, well, I am an adult.  I think what everyone just can't handle is the context in which it's being used.  Terms that were used 30 -40 years ago considered to be fine then many people get all bunched up about today.  I not only choose not to, but have the intellectual awareness to understand context.  apparently many do not.  If you have been playing along with my other responses to others willing to have a civil discussion, you'd find that I am actually OK with the name change which was not immediately apparent in my first post.

A 2020 UC-Berkeley study found that 49% of Native Americans considered the "redskin" term 'offensive' or 'very offensive.'

A Center for Indigenous Peoples/CSU-San Bernadino study found that 67% of people surveyed thought the expression "redskins" name was offensive and racist.

Numerous Native American tribes, and other Native American organizations, have spoken out against it.

Apparently, the word "redskin" isn't offensive to you.   Great.  Even some Native Americans don't find it offensive.

But many do.   Why would we - as a country - choose to demean these good people?

How many people were surveyed in 2020?  Where were their respective geographies?  Were all the people surveyed located in California?  I would really question the sample populous as a consensus of ALL native Americans must then feel this way.  Sorry, but very pointed surveys to generate a foregone conclusion seems very un-scientific to me.  However, if you read my comments, I conceded the name even though the very people I associate with who have an ethnic connection to all of this think it's absolutley preposterous.  Go figure... not all people feel the same way.

I don't think changing the name was all that bad given it's actual intent, and if some of the population, no matter how minute feel offended, then I agree it was prudent to change the name.  what I am trying to say here, is that I actually agree with you based upon my first post, just not in as many words, but to remove a very cool logo along with it was like throwing out the baby with the bath water.

If anyone finds a native American logo offensive need to have their heads examined.  I will stand firm there.

For example, as I said in a differnt post..  Mutual of Omaha changed their logo from a Native American to a lion, What the Actaul EFF for?

Karens...   that's why.  That to me was an insult at its worst level.

  3. I watched the Bucs playoff game with a buddy of mine who is a huge Bucs fan and we both kinda felt like you could tell that was going to be his last game.  He looked done.  If you can watch that game on gamepass or something you'll see a look, or expression on his face that I'v enever seen before.  It was like he was just worn out.

Actually, the more I think of it, Jim Kelly had a similar look on his face after the loss to the Jags.  It was obvious Jim was done and had nothing left in the tank.

  4. making the playoffs has nothing to do with positional player excellence.  It's really geared around individual player performance regardless of injury status, and for those reasons I don't think it's broken.  Where I think it's broken is how they have made a joke out of the game with all these changes.  I was far more inclined to watch it when it was after the superbowl, I don't know why that was for me, but I haven't watched it one time since they changed that alignment.

  5. Anyone who has known me on here for some time knows I am no homer with my opinions, and tend to lean on the cynical, but I am here to defend scoring both the touchdown and going for 2.

    1.  We've seen bigger leads disappear in our favor with less time on the clock in the past (see 77 second miracle), so if there's a chance, you bury that possibility.

    2.  the Bills have been struggling this year mightily on 2 point conversions, and you have a chance to practice one in live game action where more points means harder for the opposition to orchestrate their own miracle comeback, you take that opportunity every time in my book.

All I saw there was a team making sure there was absolutely NO chance of a comeback.

We only lost 4 games last year and wore blue pants in every one of 'em!

When will the insanity end, I ask you!?!?!?!?

The prosecution calls to the stand Mr. Deion "Primetime" Sanders:

    "You look good,

    You feel good,

    You play good,

    They pay good."

    The prosecution rests.

I hate the loser 70's blue pants, even more than the all reds.

They had one dominating performance vs. Washington and played well vs. KC.  I thought too vs. KC they stumbled in the third quarter (remember back when that was an issue?), and frankly were very good, but not at their best.

I think Diggs is lagging behind last year, Beasley is an enigma & Davis maybe playing injured.  Sanders & Knox have been good.

Josh was mediocre (or bad) vs. Pitt, played so so vs. Miami and average vs. Houston.

I know the expectations are high and funny that we can nitpick, but I'm waiting for a game like those last year vs. Seattle, Denver or SF.

Forecast Monday is great vs. Tennessee and want to see an air show......

I find it quite surprising that more people don't see this, especially the network talking heads.  Yes, these wins have been decisive, but the offense does not seem to have the same consistency, and Allen's completion percentage so far has been down.  Can't dismiss that.  I'm not saying Josh is not playing great, I think he os, but that completion percentage has to contribute to the offense slowing down.

It's still too early to know if the Bills are legit or are indeed frauds.

The only caution I give is for everyone pointing out Green Bay is it's a bad example because:

    1) It was road game for them.

    2) Rogers is a proven commodity that has been in multiple playoff games and won a SB.

Same deal for those pointing out how Brady and the Pats typically had these type of losses early in the season....they were typically road games and Brady already had a well documented history of winning.

The big concern out of the Steelers game is not just how bad they played, but it was at home and the Steelers simply dominated and ran away from the game in the 2nd half....maybe down the road we'll look back at it as a true anomaly but for now it appears the Bills have serious flaws indicative of a team that is not certainly not a championship contender.

I watched the game again and could easily say that the lack of commitment to the running game, coupled with very, very poor offensive line play was what led to the loss.  if that continues, then I agree, this team isn't going anywhere.

I don't watch ESPN 8 "The Ocho" for anything other than the Dodge Ball championships, so who cares what those knuckle heads say.  I'm not saying he may not be right, but there's 16 more games to be played before a clown like this should come to that conclusion.

Looking at this list makes me appreciate Joe Ferguson even more , when you look back on it he was a very steady QB for us for a long time, then we had the pre misery of Dufek, Ferrigamo, & Mathison before Kelly and the long search until Allen.

Joe Dufek and Bruce Mathison!   ahhh  the crappy old days.....

So I'm clear what Homey's rules are: You're fine with some personal life being public business?  We know that player's health is ok with you.  What about crimes they've been accused and/or convicted of?  What about their charitable work?  Is religion too taboo? How about whether or not they have been or plan to be vaccinated? What is it about his sexual orientation that makes you uncomfortable?

I don't really care about anyone's orientation, religious beliefs, or political stance when it comes to football.  Nothing about his sexual orientation makes me feel uncomfortable, but I do enjoy the thinly veiled attempt at calling me homophobic, again nice try LOL.

What I do care about is those three things being dramatized for the simple theatre of it.  Hey's gay, yipee.  I do care about the well being of players, up to and including health struggles, as I would like to include them in my thoughts and prayers, however I don't feel Carl needs prayer from me any more that a straight person does for being straight.  I have that ability to separate things that way, you on the other hand, don't seem to have that skillset.  You don't like my opinion?  ohh no!  what ever will I do with myself!

I dignified your legitimate questions in this post with a response, so now you know.

I'm sorry, I missed your outrage on Sunday when millions of people posted "happy Fathers' Day" messages on social media.  I also missed it when the Bills community has wished Jim Kelly, Pinto Ron and Pancho Billa well wishes for their health.  That was all their personal life and their business - unnecessary theater.

Ahh yes, both very relatable to sexual orientation  LOL.  Nice try.

Because it’s not supported in the NFL and it needs to be. Nassib is FAR from the only gay player in the NFL and they shouldn’t need to hide out of fear of being black balled.

I respect your reply, but if we are going to treat each other with the same level of respect and acceptance as those who are not gay, I feel these types of things really don't help unite.  I don't have the answer to what will, and I do hope we get there someday, but, in my opinion, this really does less help to the community.

I was listening to OBD yesterday and started thinking about Steve Tasker’s career.

How do you explain his brief career resurgence as an offensive weapon during the 1995 and 1996 seasons?

At that time Tasker was a special teams who rarely played on offense.  So little that he never had double digits receptions.  He also was about 33 years old at that time and his best years physically were behind him.

Yet he became a solid contributor on that Bills as a kick returner, receiver and even an effective rusher on reverses.  While he was never a star, you can argue that he was the difference maker in a playoff win versus Miami.

I know there is a story of Jim Kelly lobbying to use Tasker on offense, only to get shot down by Marv and Bruce DeHaven.  I was never sure if that was entirely true or just

    and exaggeration.

Either way, why do you think Tasker was had these blips after hardly ever playing offense in his previous 12 years in the NFL?

I think Tasker could have been a Wes Welker type of player well before Wes Welker re-defined that type of role.  I don't think there was any reason to develop that type of weapon, given the team had HOF caliber players at the skill positions already.  A completely missed opportunity in my mind, but hindsight is always 20/20, and before Welker, who knew a small scrappy receiver could be so effective.

Because of the tweet where Diggs thanked Beane for getting him out of Sota.

It's a pretty long read but you'll catch his disrespectful,  ridiculous and outright Sad vibes towards Diggs and Buffalo (idk why he's taking shots at the city, guess it shows how jealous and salty he is)

This writer acts like he doesn't care but he clearly cares tremendously and is extremely jealous of Diggs and our franchise , while his franchise stays irrelevant.

Oh and feel free to say hi to him on Twitter.  I'll try to find his page in a bit. 😁

We aren't judging this guy, we know he is a murderer....that's factual.  He murdered 5 people including children so yes, we can condemn him because we are allowed free thinking.

I offered my view, you offered yours.  I stand by my statement that none of us should condemn any man, but that does not mean I sympathize with him either.

  16. Of all the things not really football related that shouldn't be discussed here, this is one of them.  Did he play football, yep.  Are we discussing his football career, nope.  I've had posts deleted for far less.

Maybe instead of everyone judging the guy, we let a Higher power do that, and pray for ALL those who died on that day.  It's not for me or anyone else on this planet to determine where this man will spend eternity, and since I don't know that, I won't condemn him.

Trying to understand the cause for his actions makes us human.  Mocking or criticizing those who seek to understand makes you a douche.

  17. you kinda figured there would be a majority of Buffalo votes, but in reality I think that's wishful thinking.  It boils down to whether or not McBean thinks the team is one player away from the superbowl or not, and I'm fairly sure nobody thinks this team is one JJ Watt away from a championship.  On top of that, JJ himself also has a say in where he'd like to play and I still think he want to play a few seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay.

I think our goal should be to win the Super Bowl every year we make the playoffs.. Do we really want the Bills to have a future like Philip Rivers did in San Diego every year? Ohhh. You threw for 4,000 yards and 30 TDs so you must be good!! but then you lose in the first round of the Playoffs every year..

In a hypothetical scenario, the Bills vs some of the more recent Super Bowl champs like the 2007 Giants.. the 2011 Giants.. the 2015 Broncos.. the 2017 Eagles... ————— I’d take Buffalo vs all these guys.. C’mon.. Peyton Manning snuck one out his final year and he threw 9 TDs and like 17 picks that year.. We have just a good of chance as anyone.. WAY worse teams than the 2020 Buffalo Bills have won it all.. Just gotta get hot at the right time and own the AFC East for the next 10-15 years consistently and we should be golden..

Once the playoffs start ***** your record.. *Patriots 19-1

It's not who you're better than from year's past, it's how well you stack up against the teams that stand between you and the superbowl this year.

I don't think there's a temperature this team can play at(getting hot) that makes them better than at least 3 teams in the AFC right now, even if those teams play slightly off.

I love this team's trajectory, but it's not high enough this year.
