Hill was lucky because of the horrific and accurate character concerns.

Beane hit on a 4th and 5th round WR, and you’re trying to portray that as a negative.

Rice is fine but Sky Moore is a wasted pick, Mecole Hardman is trash. The Chiefs have spent more capital on WR and have the same as the Bills to show for it.

Also Gabe Davis is better than any Chiefs WR other than Tyreke Hill

Definitely quantity this year.  So many open spots all over the roster.  Deal with it!

Where are you seeing that? I'd love to upgrade one of the safeties, and add some depth at DLine, and of course another WR.

The offense is going to be better than this past seasons

    I'm kinda old.

When did the X, Y, Z nomenclature take over?

    WR1, TE, Slot

Or from my early days: Split End, Tight End, Flanker (that one was before my time, but I knew what it meant)

Isn't it all the same thing, different name? Or am I missing some subtlety here?

When I played freshman football in 1995 I was an X

I don't see Samuel as a Davis replacement, so I don't see that move as addressing the loss of the boundary receiver, or now Diggs.

Unless you think Shakir can take over for Davis, I think you still need two.

We need two because you can’t put that much pressure on Shakir to be a borderline all pro.

In the past the bills could get away with just 5 WRs because of how good Diggs and Davis were. They’re gonna need 6 or 7 IMO

I'd like some level of elite traits.  Size for jump balls and radius for josh allens... we'll call it "inconsistent" ball placement.  Speed to create deep separation.  Elite ball tracking on deep balls.  Something that isnt just - he does a lot of stuff well.

These kinds of dudes are rare - but probably super valuable here, given what else is on the roster. Think DK Metcalf.

What’s interesting is that in the modern game they’re probably not gonna really reach elite status and they’re fairly limited in what they can do. Like DK won’t run routes that require sharp cuts. He runs posts, flys, crossers, and deep outs.  That’s gonna be Justin Shorter as well.

Jahan Dotson probably profiles as your average X these days. 6-1, and he wins with quickness and moves and route running rather than physicality

Davis was already replaced. His name is Kahlil Shakir. He clearly became WR2 by late season.
Thanks for SOME  magic moments, Stefon.

route trees are very different there. If anything, I think Justin Shorter gets first crack at replacing Davis if they stay in house

Diggs running into coverage isn't always double teaming....

Nah, having a safety just shaded over or a backer shaded over makes a pretty significant difference.  Teams don't double Kelce and others, they layer coverage. Don't think Diggs is wrong here.

What are you talking about? The Bills will have a cap charge of $30M this year and no player on the roster to show for it. How much more dead do you want that to be???

Yesterday the Bills had 7.5M in cap space. Today they have about 4M.  What is the opportunity cost of that 3-4M?

I don't think any team would take this because the Bills will pick too low and no team has 32 first round graded players.

Much more realistic is possibly getting to 9-12 in the hopes of getting Rome Odunze, and then if not him getting into around 15 and getting Brian Thomas Jr

just wait....Beane is going to build the Allen A-BOMB  offense

We are going to add 2 impactful WR's.  At least 1 in the draft. Maybe another via trade

    That's my belief.

I don't particularly care WHO the players are. But he's getting deep threats, and that's right in Brady's wheelhouse for what he wants on offense.

    About what?

Who cares what Beane said.  Look at the talent Houston has and look at our talent, then ask yourself which is better.

What Beane says has nothing to do with anything related to our brief discussion here.

Beane said they weren't done. This is not what the Bills will look like in Sept

Perhaps, but the $3 million does not include the cost of a receiver corp replacement (which needs to happen).  That can be expensive depending on what Beane does.

A rookie first rounder is like 19M over 4 years.

Maybe trading for someone like Tee Higgins you'd use that full cost, but then you're getting 2 players for 1 Diggs

  13. This is driving me insane. This is not how to portray Dead cap. It's THREE MILLION

I would go crazy if we got DK Metcalf.....but what reason would Seattle have to trade him.  I think they eat way more $ than we did for Diggs and he's still 26

They're not anywhere close to contending and DK is their best way to get picks

If he does, yes. But then you’re trading what, a pick that’s in the 200-300 point value range.

Guess my thoughts of that not being in our possession is them trading into the 10-20 range.

I think the draft point guide thing is my most disliked modern feature of the NFL media complex. How tf you gonna measure value when you don't even know the player who comes in, and you're not even taking into account the needs of a team.

You want a player that you think is gonna complete your roster and elevate you to SB contender? Go get him and damn the stupid charts

We may be getting caught up up in grammar. I mean next year as in 2025 because the current league year already started.

$31M is the dead cap for 2024. Which is only a ~$3M increase from having him on the roster.

The best way to look at this is the Bills gave up Stefon Diggs + $3M in cap space in 2024, bottom 10 6th and a 5th rounders, for a top 10 2nd in 2025 and 30M in cap space going forward
